Don't Mind Me, I'll Just Ramble on for a While

I think I'm catching a cold which totally sucks. Hopefully I'll get over it during the weekend because I do not want to be sick for a calculus test. But yeah basically this post is going to be all over the place because I'm just going to write whatever pops in my head so I can hurry to bed.

We went on a science field trip today to see some labs and stuff, like I mentioned in my last post. In one portion of our tour we were being taught about soils and how to tell how sandy or clay-y (lol totally not a word, but whatever) a soil sample is. Basically for one of the tests you have to taste some to see how gritty it is, which I had absolutely no problem doing at the time. Now though, my mouth and throat are kind of weird feeling and I can't tell if it's because I'm sick or if it's from the sand. And all I can think about right now is this one book I read where a girl was killed from internal bleeding because some one put finely ground glass into her food. Not even sure if that would work or not in real life, but it's a freaky thought.

I finally finished reading The Fault in our Stars (which is technically the first John Green book I've read! :o I'll eventually get to the other ones). It was amazing. It really made me think about life and death and the struggle to survive. I have to say out of all the books I've read so far it's probably the one that made me laugh and cry alternately the most. It was a whole roller coaster of emotions for me and I ended up bawling for pretty much the whole three hour bus ride to Thunder Bay.

I realized something about myself a while ago and want to pop it to you guys as a quick random question: What's the first physical thing you notice about a person you meet? I'm not sure why exactly, but the thing I always notice first and the thing that sticks in my mind the most about a person is their mouth.

Katie, I think you should stay with Envirothon for this year at least and if you absolutely hate it just don't do it again after that. The Walking Dead is about zombies (hence the name) and this one group of survivors. It focuses on how the group is coping, trying to stay alive, and trying to deal with the problems amongst themselves. As for reading, I sometimes have a hard time starting reading, but once I'm a chapter or two into it usually I get really pulled into the story and end up reading it all in one sitting. I also have the bad habit of reading half of a book and leaving it, which I think is directly a cause and an effect of my need to finish books in one sitting. Basically, if I don't finish a book in one go I usually get distracted and then a couple weeks later return to it not fully remembering all that's happened so I don't want to finish it, but I also don't want to reread the beginning so it just sits there. In conclusion: maybe try reading the book without interrupting it for anything. As a side note, I can't do what Deidra said and assign reading time, I do it when I'm in the mood or when I'm procrastinating, so maybe that's something else you can try. Or maybe you could listen to music. (whew that was a long response)

Adam, I loved Gatsby and agree for the most part on the Harry Potter books. As a side note, I heard JK Rowling was writing an adult book so hopefully that turns out well.

Kate, I guess I wasn't really thinking fully last week when I said turtle shell because I didn't consider what a drag it would be to carry one around everywhere. All I was thinking was that it would be nice to just hide in your shell whenever you wanted to, kind of like you take your home with you everywhere or something.

Campion, I remember watching that movie with my dad when I was little. I don't really remember much, but I do remember Hal and I do remember it being very strange. I don't doubt the use of drugs while it was being made. I also really liked Hal though, it (he?) was kind of cool, and there are tons of parodies of him which are usually pretty funny. On the topic of strange movies, have you ever seen the movie Sharktopus? I have to admit it's pretty terrible and the animating was pretty funny, but I enjoyed watching it so maybe you would too. (It's tag line is "Half-Shark. Half -Octopus. All Terror" which is just genius, don't ya think?)

DFTBA
