Charlieissocruellike

So this week was pretty awesome. My homework load was lighter than usual and I got to miss half a day of school to go to a university presentation thingy in another town. Also I just got the results from my first advanced functions unit test and I got 91%, the highest in my, albeit small, class.

I'm also really looking forward to Stickaid this year. I was able to watch some, but not all of it last year. It was hilarious. I especially liked Mr. Bun (may he rest in peace). I hope to watch the whole thing this year (only 6 hours to starting!) but who knows what'll happen.

This weeks movie review is for Castle in the Sky. It's another animated movie, but this time it's from Studio Ghibli, an asian company. It's funny, cute, and corny all at once. This is definately one of my favourite movies by them, or more specifically Hayao Miyazaki. Other favourites that I recommend from Studio Ghibli: Howl's Moving Castle, The Cat Returns, My Neighbour Totoro, and Ponyo.

Since I didn't have as much homework this week I was able to draw a couple things, which made me really happy. I gave Oshawott to Deidra as a little present and kept Snivy for myself (Snivy rules!).

Adam glad to hear you're liking college. I am super jealous that you got to meet James and Oliver Phelps. And I love your Pizza John shirt, I wish I had one too.

Katie, that's kinda a tough question. I'd probably have to say that world powers are regions that have a great impact on the rest of the world depending on the things that they do within their own country and with others. For that reason I'd say Canada, China, USA, and England are all world powers. Of course, I'm probably wrong or forgetting somewhere, but that's what I can think of right now.

Kate, I love sleep as well, so I hope I'll be able to watch all of Stickaid. I can only imagine what it would be like to host the thing and have to be doing all these activities while being super tired. I did have a wake-a-thon like that in grade eight, though so I guess it wouldn't be much different than that.

Kira I also suck at remembering numbers organized in math. It can be such a pain sometimes.

Campion it sucks that you have to study so much for your upcoming exams. I have to admit, I have terrible study habits and usually just end up studying the week before the exam. I'm planning on trying to break that habit this year, however.

Deidra I still think you should have stayed in advanced functions with me so I wouldn't be the only girl in the class, but its your loss I guess =P And don't worry about how much you write, its fine.

Rainy Day Words

The weather today has been so dreadful. Yes, dreadful. It has been raining all day long, and not even fun rain with lightning and thunder. Nope, just the endless, pitiful rain that makes me tired all through the day. Then of course, since I was tired all day I am no longer tired now, when I need to be. Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday.

My week has actually been pretty good. Aside from some annoying poetry assignments for English class, my homework load has been pretty minimal. I don't have a math class this year, since I don't need it for university (I also really hate math), so I feel really bad when you guys get bogged down with lots of math work. I know I struggled with it the past three years. Heck, if it weren't for Kayla, I don't know if I would have done as well as I did.

Stickaid is this weekend, and I am super-duper excited. This will be my second year watching it, but my first year actually staying up the full twenty-four hours. Or at least, I hope it will be. I stayed up all night once this summer, and it wasn't too difficult, but I didn't have school to think about or homework to do. Plus, I was able to sleep in later the next day, which I won't be able to this time. Oh well, Stickaid is worth it.

We don't have a Homecoming here, but one thing that may get in the way of me watching Stickaid is the season finale of Doctor Who. It is playing on Saturday, and I want to see it soo badly, but I also don't want to miss any of the fun times. I will end up choosing the Doctor in the end, of course, but it is still a dilemma. I hope you have a lot of fun at your Homecoming dance, Kate. Although I've never been to a school dance, i hear they are great fun. =P

Lately I have been having a bit of trouble remembering the New Zealand time difference. It is quite troublesome because I basically know the time for everyone else, but the conversion just doesn't seem to stick in mind for you, Campion. So to solve problem, I changed the time one of the clocks in my room to NZ time. So far, it has helped. It has also made me realized how annoying these time zones are.

Katie, I think that what makes a region or nation powerful is the ability to make decisions together and act as one. A powerful nation is united, and has a system that works positively for the majority. The regions that I feel are the most powerful are probably Canada and the United Kingdom. They both seem to have things together, and the people seem to be content with how things are going. Also, they seem to have their problems under control. That is my answer, off the top of my head with no research and little thought. Sorry, I'm not really in a big thinking mood tonight. =)

Sometimes I feel like I write too much. I look back and see what I've written, and think, "wow, nobody is going to want to read that monster post." But once I start writing, I don't want to stop. I could just keep writing forever and ever sometimes. Anywho, I do have other things that have to get done before bed, so have a good end of week, and don't forget to be awesome!

Deidra

I love the mists

Brandon Sanderson, he is an amazing author whose work I am absolutely in love with. I am currently reading a series he made called Mistborn, it's brilliant one of my favorite books that I have ever read. I've just been borrowing the books off a friend of mine for the time being and I actually enjoyed the series more than I enjoyed Harry Potter. I don't know why, I guess that I just enjoy reading high fantasy more than urban fantasy.

Schools been really tough lately, been studying a lot because I have exams in about a month and bit. I just can't wait for it be over, it's just so frustrating! Because I'm a filmmaker and I haven't been able to make anything because I've so bogged down with study. In fact I've been grounded from fun (by my parents) for the next month. I just can't wait for it be over.

So my life right now consists of getting up, going to school, getting home, study, go to bed. At the moment, I'm currently procrastinating and enjoying every minute of it. Procrastinating might be bad, but it's more enjoyable than the alternative (and I've studying for about two hours, so I guess I can take a break to write this)

So I need to get back to writing essay, so...

Have an awesome week guys

The Pain That Is Math Homework

Okay. I'm pretty good at math in general. But when it comes to keeping a lot of numbers organized and remembering what's for what...Bad. Thus, I frequently mess up on matrices. Wince.

Now, forgetting about that for a moment. Happy birthday, Google!

I forgot to answer the hero question, so I'll say...a hero is anyone who inspires you to become a better person, as bland of a definition as that. My personal heroes? J.K Rowling, the Vlog Brothers, and a very good friend of mine named Evie.

Having a friend as your hero may be idiotic, but not if you ever knew Evie. She is the best person you'll ever have the hope to meet. Confident but not arrogant, talented, giving, a born leader...Actually, that's where my pen name comes from-her middle name is Kira. I've always admired her. She's never been afraid to tell us-"Guys, I hate you just as much as I love you."

I'm glad to know her.

9/26/2011

I have seen a few Shakespeare plays myself.  On a field trip, we went to see Romeo and Juliet.  Last year's spring play was Macbeth. Both were really good.
Adam, I am so jealous.  Fred and George were my favorite characters in Harry Potter, and I admire James and Oliver as actors.  I also wished I own a Pizza John shirt, but, sadly, I do not.
Katie:
Your question is hard for me.  I would say the United States, but we were more of a power during and before WWII.  Now we are in a ton of debt.  Most of that debt is owed to China (I think), so I'd say China is one of the more powerful countries.  After all, most of the US's products come from China, or at least that is what it seems like.

This weekend is Stickaid.  I'm looking forward to it and I hope I can stay up the whole 24 hours.  It starts at 6 A.M. my time so really I'll only need to be up for 25ish hours. Then on Sunday I plan to sleep until Noon and then go to bed early so I can get a good amount of sleep before school on Monday.  I like sleep.
I never did much on the internet before 2011 so I missed out on Stickaid last year.  I had made a promise to myself that I would watch it this year, but this morning I realized that the Homecoming Dance was also Saturday.
The realization actually made me smile.  It was a funny coincidence and it gave me a reason to not got to the dance.  The dance bored me last year, I know this year would have been more fun, but I still didn't want to go.

Because it's Homecoming week, it's SPIRIT WEEK!  I never really get into the spirit week tradition.  Each day we dress up as something different.  Today was hippie/tie-dye, tomorrow will be pajama day, Wednesday is western/cowboy day, Thursday will be class color day (my class color:  green), and Friday is spirit day.  Spirit day is when we dress in our school colors, black and gold.

But there is a terrible bit of irony to this...
Saturday night, around 10:30 PM, Facebook exploded with posts.  There was a rumor (that really wasn't a rumor, there was just no "official" source) that the beloved drama teacher had killed himself.  I never knew him, but people talked about how great he was and how no one would have expected him to do that.  I didn't cry.  I felt sad, but like I said, I didn't know him well.

I would write other things, but I'm afraid this post may get too long. I'll probably write more on my personal blog later.

I had a really clever title

Somehow I forgot, so your stuck with that. First off, I'm glad Craig has a dinosaur friend. I also made that dinosaur the background on my phone. I had the same boring, uneventful week. Sounds like you guys had a pretty awesome one though.  I've only ever been in a Shakespeare play, never seen one in a big fancy theater! Adam I can't believe how much fun your having at college, hope it stays like that! I can't believe that kid fell out of his chair, so good! This is going to be a lot smaller than I thought. School photo day was Friday, which is something I hate more than anything. Lets just say I don't photo well, at all. On an extremely sad note, death seems to be a trend this week. That boy, Jamey, who committed suicide because people were bulling him about being gay. Just horrible. I found out the night before international peace day. People the next day were using gay as an insult and it really hit a nerve. I felt so sorry for the parents of that boy and I wanted to tell those kids that they needed a language check. Also, today was the memorial for my neighbor who died of cancer. I didn't know her well so I couldn't feel too upset, but I'm still pretty sad about it. She was a nice, fragile old lady. She died almost a year ago if I remember correctly.
However, Nerd Factor is awesome! I watched the winning videos, and they're great. Really hilarious. I love Thomas Jefferson: The Musical. So hilarious. I wish I had something interesting to write about...Oh I have another question for you guys, but first may I say, I love your responses to the 'hero' question. This weeks question: In your opinion, what regions are most powerful? Why? And What makes a world power? Those are just some questions that came up in my History class, and I think it would be interesting to see your opinions. Also, a great website my teacher showed me:
http://www.worldmapper.org/atozindex.html
I think its very interesting. One more thing before I go. Remember when I told you my sister went to Australia? Well she might be going on another trip like that with the same program, but to Italy, Sicily, and Greece. I'm so jealous, but I'm not old enough yet. On that note, I bid you a good
Bye!♥

A Week of Awesome

I love college. So very very much. Everyday I wander in and sit my lectures and my tutorials in math and physics and it's awesome. I get to spend it with people who share my passion for the subject, we can work together, bounce ideas off each other and just generally have a good time.

Monday evening, I just hung out with a couple of new friends and relaxed. We chatted about what clubs and societies we joined. I joined Basketball, Games, Sci-Fi and the Law society. Law is great because they organise great talks and debates.

Tuesday evening, I attended a glamour model debate. It was on the motion "Is glamour modelling a legitimate career?" There were some good speakers including some models but also they had some comedians who were just hilarious.

Wednesday night, the students union bar had a band called the Saw Doctors playing, they're really popular in Ireland because they've been around forever. They have real typical Irish type music, it's good to dance to, you should check them out.

Thursday night...... oh my Thursday night...... James and Oliver Phelps were in UCD.......

And things got kinda awesome............. Yes. That's right. I'm wearing pizza john.

They were very good, they spoke for about ten minutes each and then had an hour long Q and A which was amazing. They said they were surprised how many questions they were asked that they had never been asked before. They both seemed really nice and genuine people. It was a great night.

Anyway, my definition of a hero is someone who influences us for the better. Maybe that's a little simple but it's the only definition that could fit all my heroes.

I quite enjoyed writing this post, I hope you liked it. :)

Aaaaaaaaaaah Title!

Haha, wow. PD days really throw my schedule off, I totally almost forgot to post today.

But yeah, anyway. Today was alright since there was no school. I didn't get to sleep in though because I had to get some bloodwork done and it was scheduled for 8:30 in the morning. It only took like 30 seconds for them to take the blood so that wasn't too bad. Afterwards I was supposed to stop by the school to get a ride home from my dad (he teaches there), but the doors were locked so I had to walk home. It was slightly annoying.

The I just relaxed at home for the rest of the day. I was working on this one thing, though, for a possible trip that Deidra and I will be taking after we graduate. Some of my friends are planning to go to the Dominican Republic, but we figure we'll probably stay in Canada (maybe the east coast or something). We don't have anything confirmed yet, but it's all so exciting to think about.

My movie recommendation this week is one that I meant to see a while back, but only got around to watching today. It's....................... Megamind! This movie was really good, it made me laugh so much and it was touching. The characters were very lovable. It probably apeals most to my childish and nostalgic side. It was definitely the best animated movie I've seen in a while. So ya, don't be shy about watching it if you haven't already and think it's for little kids.

As for my definition of a hero.... I think I go with the definition that it's someone who is looked up to and admired for the qualities that they have and live by, if that makes sense? So like someone who stops someone from getting hit by a car could be a hero, but so could a person who returns lost items to their owners.

Also I was thinking, maybe what we're sort of doing right now is fine in terms of theme-ish weeks. What I mean is if people keep asking little questions like what is a hero or what are ten things that make you happy, that's good enough to prompt us to write something we wouldn't have otherwise. So maybe if we just continue with things like that it's fine.

Anyway, cutting it kind of close so that's all I'll write for now.

I Be Distracted

This week has been a short one for me, since I did not go to school today. My family and I went to the city to do some shopping, and also because they had some appointments to go to. It was mostly boring, as shopping usually is for me, but I bought a book that is surprisingly very good. It is called Boy Proof, and I am almost finished reading it already. I would be done if it hadn't gotten so dark on the way home.

I don't have school tomorrow, but I still have to get up a bit early to do some work for my online World History course. I have to finish and submit an assignment that I have barely started, since it is due tomorrow. Also this weekend I have to study for a biology quiz, do English homework from today, and start the history assignment that is due on Monday. I really wish school would be over now.

Craig looked a little lonely, so I drew this for you Katie. I copied the baseline from a Google image, not from my head. I am not that creative. But it is my favourite kind of dinosaur cartoon, because it is so adorable. Also, my definition of hero is someone that you can look up to and take strength and ideas from I guess. I've always been a bit sketchy with the idea of heros. I kinda prefer the term role model, or something of the like. 'Hero' is just a bit too fictional for my liking. I don't know.

Campion I am extremely jealous that you got to see a Shakespeare play. I would love to see one, though I have never read Henry IV. I have only read Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, and The Merchant of Venice. Personally Romeo and Juliet is my favourite of those, but for different reasons than most people. It is the play that really got me interested in English, and one of the main reasons why I now want to study it in university. To see it in the Globe Theatre would be to die for!
Kira, your story was funny and reminded me of my Wednesday. We were in the library doing our online courses, and a friend of ours decided to take a nap underneath the the computer desks. I mean, he was sort of hung-over, but it was still pretty random.
Congrats Kate on being sorted into Ravenclaw! Also on being able to play the ukulele so quickly. I am amazed.  =)
Adam I hope you have a good week and that college is exciting. Please tell us how those challenges went, I am interested in seeing how you did in them.
Kayla, I will never look at pudding the same way again.

I hope you all have a good week and a good Thursday! Don't forget to be awesome!

I'm honestly surprised right now

And I truly am. I just got home from a film of a Shakespeare that I went to see with my friends and I absolutely loved it. I'm really surprised at how amazing the film was... and it wasn't even a proper film. The play was Henry IV part 1. I laughed so much during it (I'm surprised that I laughed so much during a Shakespeare play), I never even thought that this play was supposed to be so funny. I gladly have a new item to add to my list of things I want to do before I die, see a Shakespeare play at the globe theatre.

I've watched a film adaptation of the play in class before but it was nowhere near as good as this one. The actors were charismatic and very entertaining to watch, I felt compelled to keep watching (even though the thing was about three hours long) and the actors were just brilliant. Especially the actor that was playing the character of Falstaff. He was by far the most entertaining and one of the most hilarious characters I have ever seen in a film/play. Can I just say again, that I never thought that Shakespeare could funny!

Sadly, none of my classmates are going to believe me when I tell them about it at school tomorrow. Oh well...

Have an awesome week guys

Quick Anecdote

Okay, so I don't have time for a long post today. I'll just give a short story you might find entertaining.

I was really tired and in a bad mood today...until my third period class.

I had econ, and I was wearily taking notes. Then, all of a sudden, another kid (whose name just happens to be Adam Smith) said, "Sir, that kid fell out of his chair."

This guy fell asleep in class, then slept on the ground. He was using his sweater as a blanket. It was the funniest thing I have ever seen. Then my teacher leaned over and asked if he was okay. He opened his eyes and said, "...what?..."

Then he said sorry a lot. It was brilliant.

Addicted to My Ukulele

Stress seems to keep building for me.  I just can't wait for next semester.
So far I can play Animals by Tom Milsom and the Internet Love Song by Tom Milsom on my ukulele.  I can play others, but not while I sing along.

I forgot to tell you about Pottermore last week! I got my email Saturday morning and finally got to the sorting in the evening.  I was sorted into Ravenclaw, the house I originally thought as my own.  Though, for the past few weeks I thought that I would also be a good Hufflepuff.

Katie... your dinosaur is adorable, and I totally know what you mean about Twitter.
Deidra, I'm not going to decorate my ukulele or anything.  I really like the simple look it has.
I am open to having themed weeks.  What would be the best way to plan for them?

Kate

My definition of "Hero" comes in two ways.
1)  A public hero can be someone who does a lot for a community or a group.  They can save someone, help someone, or go out of their way to do something nice.  Examples:  The Doctor, Police Officers, Soldiers and Veterans
2)  A personal hero, someone you look up to, a role model.  Someone who inspires you to be a better you.  My personal heros:  John Green, The Doctor, My volleyball coach.

Its Getting Better All The Time...

A little better, since you've been mine. So this week wasn't the best week, but it was better.Yesterday was amazing, as well as most of today.  I still think some type of theme is in order, but I have no idea what. Except turtles. No reason really, I just think turtle week would be fun. My friend Anna finally read Looking For Alaska, and is on Katherine's [I made her a Nerdfighter, so I wasn't alone!]. Anyway the reason yesterday was so awesome was because I finally caught John doing a live show. He was answering questions from Twitter and he answered mine, which made me happy-dance. Something he said and I quote: "No idea why hackers chose your pants." So yea, it was great. Also, Doctor Who was quite amazing, I really enjoyed it. Today was good because I watched Savannah [http://www.youtube.com/user/savanamazing] on blogtv. Then I went outside with some books, my iPod, pillows, blankets, and drawing paper. I was out there from 3:00pm-7:00pm relaxing. What made it notsome was when these asshat collage kids honked there horn at me when the drove by. I didn't do anything to them, but lay in my front yard minding my own business. Oh I also made you this:

I think its one of my best. You can't read the bottom, but I named it Craig. Not sure why, just thought it fit. So that's Craig the dinosaur everyone. There is this cat in my neighborhood that my mom and sister say looks like my cat [same colors, but not breed]. I saw he/she next door in there back yard and had it come right to me. I pet he/she then went back over to my blanket. A few minuets later it was coming toward me. He/she came on my blanket, but got scared away by my dog. He was barking at this guy walking. It ran across the street and left, but it was the cutest cat. Here's a photo:

Glad you guys have had a good week, I have a question for you. I was asked to define what being a "hero" was this past week. So now I would like you to define "hero" and try and find someone to fit that definition. Mine was the Uncultured Project, because Shawn is made-of-awesome. DFTBA guys, I'll write to you next Sunday late at night, when its almost Monday!
Bye!♥
P.S. I really like Twitter. Way too much. Its not healthy...

Tired

This is going to be brief because I've had a bad last thirty minutes.

My week was really good, it was exciting having to find where all the classrooms where all over again. I'm looking forward to next week when I get to join the clubs and societies.

Also, Ireland beat Australia in the rugby world cup which was great, they played really well. Everyone here's delighted about.

I saw Ryan Sheridan live this week, he's well worth checking out.

Mutant and Proud

Well today was very busy for me, but in a good way. Student Council held a Welcome Back to School BBQ and activity thing today. We got our afternoon classes off so we could have free food, compete in activities to win prizes or just hang out with friends outside. Have you ever seen one person try to feed another pudding while they're both blindfolded? It's quite hilarious to watch. But the best part was that the weather was really good compared to how rainy and freezing cold it was the whole week before.

Also I'm sleeping over at Deidra's house tonight and we just finished watching X-men: First Class. I have already seen the movie twice before, but Deidra hadn't and I really wanted her to watch it with me because she's not usually into those movies. I really like movies where people have superpowers, by the way. They're so exciting and imaginative.

Also I just noticed that I like to mention a movie in my posts so maybe I'll make it a thing. A weekly movie recommendation or something.

Question: are we still planning on doing themes or something... because we never really ended up doing them even though we all said it was a good idea. If we do still want them we should figure out how we're going to go about using them.

Anyway, hope everyone is doing well

Once again unto the breach my friends...

That title has very little anything to do with my post, I just thought that it would sound really cool. So next week, me and few friends of mine are going to a stage production of King Henry IV for English. It should be fun I guess, I've found that I enjoy Shakespeare more than most people (probably because I can understand most it) and so it should be really fun.

I don't really have anything to write about this week... at all (it's been a slow week). So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY Adam and have a good week guys

I Refuse To Grow Up

This past week has been kind of weird. I have been frantically trying to change my online history course for a writer's craft course, and I don't know exactly what is going to happen with it. I am really really hoping to get into it, since English and writing are what I love (and history is just bleh). Also, I have been writing a lot of essays for English class, which has been wearing me down. Essays are not fun to write.

I did do a fun exercise on descriptive writing, where I had to describe what I can see from my bedroom window. Since I live in the basement I thought it was going to be extremely difficult, but once I opened my blinds (which are always closed, it was the first time they had been opened in months) I found that it was actually pretty easy to describe what was out there.

Living Low
Soft yellow light filters down through dusty window panes as the tips of dying blades of grass leisurely brush the glass. In the brightening sky jet black birds make slow smooth circles, their shrill calls piercing the tranquility. Rising, the remainder of the scene comes into view. The front lawn unfolds in front of me, a vast expanse of glistening green broken up only by a declining shrub. The small number of remaining leaves make the plant appear skeletal and lifeless. Beyond its twisted branches lies the cracked and faded road, void of people and purpose during this moment. The houses that line the street remain dark, only their faces illuminated by the glowing light radiating from the street lights. Dropping back onto the bed, the scene disappears from view, once again engulfed by the walls of the room.
I had never heard of Starcraft before you mentioned it in your post, Campion. It seems like an interesting sort of game. I am not much of a gamer, but it looks like something that I might like to try. Anyway, a few days after reading your post, I overheard some guys in my school talking about it. Coincidence? I think not.
Kayla, the only thing I have to say to you is read more of The Great Gatsby! I finished it on the weekend and am dying to talk about it with you. The beginning of the novel was a little dry, but the ending is what really makes it worth the read. Just keep going!
Happy Belated Birthday Adam! I hope it was really good and that you celebrated it well. Here is your Internet birthday cupcake, do enjoy!  ^.^  Also, some of those challenges sound pretty scary. I would probably be too embarrassed or shy to do many of them.

Sorry to hear that you had a suckish week Katie. But I expect to see a dinosaur at some point in the future, so that I have something to cheer me up whenever I have a bad week (since I cannot draw dinosaurs).
Kate, I am jealous of your ukulele. Although I have no musical talents I would love to have one, because they are so adorable and awesome. Are you going to decorate yours and make it nerdy? Or just leave it like it is?
Congratulations Kira on your acceptance into Gryffiindor! I also have always believed myself to be a Ravenclaw, but I would accept Gryffindor or Hufflepuff anyday. Slytherin on the other hand, I would not. =P

I must now go and do more English homework. So I hope you guys enjoyed this post, because I used it to procrastinate my work, and that you all have good weeks. Don't forget to be awesome. Ever!

Musical Me?

Musical? Heck no. I'm very musically challenged. I have difficulty with just about everything musically related. But me, being stupid, agreed to switch from the flute to the bassoon. Have I mentioned that before? Too bad.

I have never played an instrument with a reed before. It is hard. I have also not played in bass cleff for a really long time...I think I'm just going to pencil in the notes.

Now, in case you wanted to know-I am a Gryffindor in Pottermore. I was utterly shocked. I always pictured myself as a Ravenclaw or a Hufflepuff. A Ravenpuff?

Bye. I need to go practice.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ADAM!!

By the time this is post it will probably be Tuesday in your time zone...  It's still Monday here though!

I hope all of you are doing well with school and life in general.  This weekend was a very interesting weekend.  Saturday was amazing and one of the best days of my life.  Katie mention my present that I got, it was a ukulele. My brother, BJ, got it for me as a birthday present since he will be gone for my birthday.
Sunday wasn't good.
Wasn't good at all.
Around 4:20 PM a sergeant guy came to pick BJ up.  I won't see him again until Christmas.  Before he left we hugged for awhile and I cried.  (I've cried about 3 times since then... my emotions are just everywhere).

I spend to much longer on here so I guess I'll say bye.

Sunshine and Giggles and All-round Happiness

So I'm having a good Sunday. Not sure how tomorrow will go, or the next day, or the next. All I know is that last week sucked. It seemed that everyone [including most teachers] Forgot To Be Awesome. Now I'm not going to lie to you. My week was so bad, Saturday I spent the morning crying into my pillow [to which I fell back asleep I was so stressed]. I don't want you to feel bad, because you guys didn't do anything. My school is just...unfair to certain kids [being me]. Now I don't want to give detail because it upsets me, and I don't want tears on my key board. I just had a tough week, that's all.
However I'm glad you guys seemed to have had an awesome week! First off, Kate I follow you on Twitter and I'm glad for your new present! Kira I can't believe what happened to you, stuff like that annoys me to no end. Campion I know how you feel, sports don't really interest me either. Deidra I find it awesome that you get to read The Great Gatsby at the same time as the rest of Nerdfighteria. And Adam Happy early 18th birthday!!!!!! I hope it will be an awesome day for you!
You know something, I like doing is chores. I don't find them annoying. In my house I do the dishes, bathroom, living room, and my side of my bedroom. I also from time to time help cook. I like doing these things, they calm me down and help me to focus on doing one thing at a time, which is always something I need to do. Sure I complain a bit, but today that was because Savannah [http://www.youtube.com/user/savanamazing] was on blogtv and I thought Hey I can go watch and have fun. But then I was reminded of my chores and got a bit sad.
This week I didn't have any homework really and same for the next week. I have a lot of YouTube to catch up on, because I have such a long day. I get up at 5:30am and get home at around 5:30-6:00pm. A really long day compared to last year. So I on;y have enough time to eat dinner and do homework. The interwebs get left behind. I'll try and find a way to squeeze it in though. So the title lied, I didn't want you to read the title and go 'oh great shes in a bad mood' because I'm not. I just had a rough week, and an okay weekend. I will go and watch my sub box and draw some dinosaurs [I draw a mean cartoon dinosaur]. Until next week you lovely kick-ass people!
Bye!♥

On the other hand

One week of college over me, it's been extremely tiring. College proper begins on Monday so I'll actually have full classes. Now, I feel like you guys are all getting a lot of homework and stuff and so since I'm the only person who isn't still in second level I've decided to focus on something different.

Every year UCD (University College Dublin) holds a fresher scavenger hunt. Freshers have the first two weeks of term to complete as many challenges as possible. Each challenge merits a different number of points, the person (or team, I'm not sure) with the most points on the 23rd of September wins. Video evidence of each photo must be posted on the Student Union facebook page. I'm also going to post the footage to youtube to start my youtube account. So, here's a few examples of the challenges.

1. Get a picture with the dean. 3points
10. Take part in a duel in the library using bananas instead of swords. 3points
12. Wear ridiculous fancy dress to a lecture. 4points
19. Propose to a lecturer in front of at least 100 people.  3points
22. Stand in the (busy) trinity courtyard yelling "UCD, UCD!" for three minutes. 3points
29. Sit in the front row of a philosophy lecture and respond to everything the lecturer says with "hmmm, interesting, but why?" (including when you are told to leave) 5points

Also, I should explain 22, trinity and Ucd are two (extremely) rival colleges, so 22 is basically a suicide mission.

So, I'm 18 on Monday and I'm really excited, since I'll be away from home we're having my birthday today (oh yeah, I'm a little late writing this), My parents bought me some nice aftershave and my sister made me a giant cookie :)

My new favourite joke: My friend died in a bowl of muesli, a strong currant pulled him in.
I'm really excited about all the famous people coming to the college to give talks, Brian Cox, Hans Zimmer and my favourite James and Oliver Phelps (Fred and George!)

Anyway I should go now, I haven't eaten breakfast yet.

I Even Ended Up Taking That Physics Class....

So it's back to the daily grind of school. All I can say is this will probably the first year where I won't have endless amounts of free time from putting work off or simply not having all that much work to do. It's actually kind of hard for me to believe that it's only been four days, I've been so busy it feels way longer than that. It already looks like I'll have more to do in Student Council than last year and I know for sure I'll have more work to do for my classes. And that's basically why I decided to write on Friday, because that way I would actually have time to post and the rest of the weekend to do homework. But, yeah, I'll try to not complain about school in every post.

In my English class we're supposed to be reading The Great Gatsby right now which I think is pretty cool because John is doing those videos on it at the same time. I'm also going to be reading Jane Eyre and Sense and Sensibility for my Independant Study Unit. I was thinking of reading those books sometime anyway so I figured they'd be a decent choice.

Also today was pretty exciting because there was some problem with the fire alarm, making it go off for no apparent reason so we got to stand outside for like at least a half hour and miss class while the firemen checked it out. Four fire trucks came which was pretty cool.

Adam, I hope college is going well and you're enjoying yourself. Also Happy (early) Birthday, because it's closer to the 12th now then it would be if I waited till my next post. Hope you have an awesome one.

Katie, don't worry about your little panda drive adventure. I think it happens to most people every once in a while. I myself am constantly looking for lost things and sometimes it turns out I was holding it the whole time.

Kate it must be kind of a big thing for your brother to be training to join the army and I'm not really sure what to say, but good luck to him. I hope it goes well.

Kira I hope your sweater was fixable. I don't have a sweater like that, but I know if something else I cared about was damaged I would also be pretty upset about it.

Deidra, I know what you mean about it being nice to see all your friends again because I'm usually gone for the summer and super unconnected with everyone (except you) during that time period.

Campion, I don't really keep up with sports either, even though hockey is a huge thing here in Canada. But when we hosted the Winter Olympics and won against the US in men's hockey for gold I was cheering so hard I even surprised myself.

The Importance Of Something That You Don't Really Care About

In New Zealand, the biggest sport in my country is Rugby. Now, let me just say that I never cared for sports but the rest of my country seems to absolutely obsessed with it and recently the whole freaking Rugby World Cup is being hosted in New Zealand this year. For the past few weeks that's all that anyone wants to talk about, it's all over the news and the radio and Facebook, it can get a little irritating some times. Personally I'm more of a Starcraft 2 fan myself (yes, I actually follow professional gaming) and would rather watch a professional game of that, but to so many people sports is a way of expressing our patriotism for our country. New Zealand is one of the least patriotic countries you will ever see, so it's good to see that people can be proud of this country for once in their lives. Even though I may not care that much about this sport, I will probably join in with the cheering if we manage to beat Australia, because lets face it... it's Australia.

So for 10 things that make me happy, well it takes quite a bit of thinking for me to think of them but I guess that it would be:

1. Finding an awesome YouTube channel that none of my friends know about
2. The feeling you get when an awesome song you haven't heard in a while comes on the radio
3. Find an old video game in your closet that you lost 3 years ago
4. Making an awesome painting that your friends love
5. Coming up with a witty response that just makes everyone laugh
6. The sheer amount of arrogance that comes from winning a game of Starcraft
7. Playing a Mario game while watching Doctor Who
8. Making Films with my friends
9. Waking up thinking you have to go to school then remembering it's the weekend and you can go back to sleep
10. Enjoying something that most people don't even like, so you know that your one of the few people who has the privilege of enjoying it

Have an awesome week guys

Quick

I must say the first day of school didn't go as bad as I thought it might. It was quite nice to see all of my friends again, and to finally be able to see the work they have been doing inside the school. I am already not enjoying being back, though. Getting up early in the morning has never been a favourite thing of mine, especially not to go to school.

My classes have been so-so. I have since quitted my math class, because after two days of it I just wanted to hide in my closet and forget everything I'd ever learned about it, just to have an excuse to never do it again (though I'm quite sure that would not help). I have changed it for some type of online history course, to do with Canadian cutlure and identity. It sounds like a good idea now, but I'm sure I will be regretting it in the near future.

But I have spent most of the evening writing a stupid essay (that took me forever to start, because I suck at beginnings) so I will post my first short post, and hopefully be able to write a longer one next week.
Campion, hope exams are going/went well. Adam, I really hope college is all you've hoped it would be, and that you are settling in well. Katie, sorry to hear about your mad panda drive search, I do stuff like that, mostly with my glasses. Put those things down for a second and then *bam*, total confusion (not to mention blurry vision while searching). Kate, I would love to be able to read Alaska for English class, but sadly it was not on the accepted reading list for the studies. So I'm doing the Stone Angel. I hope it will be good. I'm so sorry to hear about your sweater, Kira. I don't know what I would do if I ripped my favourite sweater (probably scream). I have not had it as long as you have had yours, but it is my comfort when I am upset.

Anywho, have a good week everyone, and don't forget to be awesome!

Frustrated Girl Stabbing At Her Keyboard

Have you guys ever been having a great day until something happened to completely ruin it? That was me today.

I got 105% on a French test, perfect on three others, had time to read a good book, and got to listen to my school's awesome string ensemble practice-then it just had to happen.

My flute got knocked over by a stand wielding idiot, and when I leaned down to pick it up, I ripped my favourite sweater off some random metal thing sticking out of my stand. I understand that that's a petty thing to complain about, but I am very irritated. Not only do I have a scratched flute, which is extremely irritating, my sweatshirt tore. And it was really cold out, so I had to walk outside shivering.

Normally I don't complain about clothes. But that was the sweatshirt I have owned since I was seven! It was big then, it's big now. That's the sweatshirt that got soaked when it was pouring during the monsoons in India. That I wore when I was sledding with friends, and watching water bottles freeze in a heated car in Montreal. I loved that sweatshirt.

I'm going to go see if I can fix it now.

Labor Day = No school!

I always feel like I have something else I need to do... but I don't.  I know I don't have anything that I need to do.  I'm just sort of anxious for some reason.  Probably because it's a three day weekend and school starts back up tomorrow.

I loved the Legend of Zelda games.  My favorites (because I can never choose one) are Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker.

Ten things that make me happiest:

  1. Making my family/teachers proud.
  2. All the things I do on/everyone I know from the internet
  3. Accomplishing a goal/project
  4. Laying outside on a trampoline, in the country, when the weather is perfect.
  5. Finding the perfect, most comfortable position in your bed, and just laying there in the warmth.
  6. My cats.
  7. When all the snow finally melts, it's 45 degrees (Fahrenheit) and you don't have to wear a jacket.
  8. The first day of school.
  9. The last day of school.
  10. Knowing/feeling I belong to an amazing group of friends.
A week from now, next Monday, is the day my brother leaves for basic training.  He is going to train to become part of the Special Forces in the US Army.  I'd like to see him off at the airport, but my dad wants me to go to school, and I also don't want to see my parents cry.

Still no luck with Pottermore.  In July I had finally decided I would be best in Ravenclaw.  I wish I didn't choose a house for myself as I will probably be sorted into something different.

For English, we have to read a book by the end of the quarter.  The book had to be an AR (Accelerated Reader) book.  Once we finish the book, we have to go take the AR quiz.  I chose Looking For Alaska even though I have already read it.  The book is beautiful.  My favorite quote can be found near the end of the book.
"Those awful things are survivable, because we are as indestructible as we believe ourselves to be. When adults say, 'Teenagers think they are invincible' with that sly, stupid smile on their faces, they don't know how right they are.  We need never be hopeless, because we can never be irreparably broken. We think we are invincible because we are."
If John came up with that on his own... he is a genius.  Sometimes I wish we were assigned to do a paper on our Role Model so that I could write all about John and Nerdfighteria.

I Can Be So Dumb

I swear sometimes I think "If my head weren't attached to me, I'd lose it." This is 100% true and I have the most perfect example to prove so. Alright well I got my supply list for school on Friday, so me and my mom decided we try and get everything Saturday. We got me a haircut and everything I needed off my list and headed home. We realized we had bought the wrong calculator and had to return it to the shop. [I still actually don't understand how I got TI-83 mixed up for TI-30. That's not the point.] While at the shop on Sat. we saw the most adorable thumb drives [flash drives] on sale. They were thumb drives designed to look like animals, so I got one that looked like a panda bear. That night I unpacked and put together everything and placed it in my bag for Tuesday, except the panda drive [thought it was a cute name]. It had an option to make it a key chain, but my sister said it would be cuter as a necklace. So this morning I took it off my desk and tried to find a chain to fit it.

I didn't have much luck so I set it on my bed and did other things. Being the worrisome person I am I checked my supply list again and realized I needed colored pencils for art. So I got mine out [spread them on my bed] and took out the basic colors that come in a package thinking that that would be enough. Not noticing that when I put the rest back, I picked up the panda too. After finishing that it was time for me to catch a bus to get to that shop and return the calculator. Its Sunday so the bus doesn't run as often, I had to wait awhile. I got home around four-thirty and started labeling the important things like the new calculator I had to buy [again]. I ate dinner and remembered I wanted to show my brother and grandmother the panda drive.

So after dinner I went downstairs to my room to grab it. Not remembering I accidentally put it in with the colored pencils I started to panic and turn my room inside out. I retraced my steps and searched every inch of my room with the help of my sister. Now I did check the pencil bag, but I didn't dump it so I couldn't see the panda. Its been hours, at least five or so looking for this thumb drive. When my sister tells me to dump out the bin the colored pencil pouch was in. So when I got to the pencils I dumped it out and BAM my sister starts cheering and then calling me names because I made her search with me that entire time. So yea, I sometimes feel like I have no brain.

Most exciting Sunday post yet? And its not over! :o So things that make me truly happy, eh? Tough one. So much eaiser to think of things that annoy me. I'll give it a go:
1.Seeing someone I like after a long while of not seeing them.
2.Being alone in a nice place.
3.Listening to a song that fits any occassion.
4.Doing something good for someone because you can.
5.Putting clothes on right after they finish in the dryer.
6.Going out side in the winter, getting cold, then going back inside to warm up.
7.Knowing I did an awesome job on an assignment before I hand it in, and getting an A.
8.Being part of such an awesome community like Nerdfighteria.
9.Laying on the grass watching the clouds and feeling the earth move beneath me.
10.That feeling you get, right before you go to sleep.

Well, that's my list! I'm quite pleased with it. A very good exercise, to think of all the things that make you happy. I actually couldn't start school on Thursday because the hurricane took out the power at my school. So I start Tuesday! Tomorrow will be my last day of summer...sadness. I enjoy summers a lot, because of all the wonderful sleep. Though it will be nice to see my friends Irl and have a schedule to follow. I want to get to sleep so let me finish up real quick. I hate coffee and red bull, I hope your testing went well Campion, I haven't seen any or read Rise of the Planet of the Apes. I might, not sure. Last but not least I hoping moving out and moving in goes smoothly for you Adam!
So I managed to write about a panda thumb drive, happiness, more school, and you guys. Good.
Bye!♥
P.S. I didn't tell you this before but I had a choice of Spanish 1 or Chinese 1...and I got into Spanish 2...yep. And I also can't get "I Should Have Known Better" by the Beatles out of my head! Its driving me insane. The harmonica over and over and over...

MF

Tomorrow I move out and I move in to a house in Dublin. It's kinda daunting but I suppose most thing's worth doing are. This week is freshers week so it'll just be first year students in the college. Which is good because there's normally 25,000 students so I won't get lost as easily.

I got skype this week, it's really good because a lot of my friends are going abroad for college and it's going to be tough to keep in contact with them all. I know people going to Switzerland and Germany, it's crazy to think how much things are changing.

I really like the question of your favourite things in life. I'm finding it very difficult to conjure up some answers but I'll have a go.
1. New socks
2. Writing a song that I'm proud of
3. Liverpool winning
4. Spending time with my friends
5. My sisters cooking
6. Getting dressed up all fancy
7. Having eccentric conversations with my best friend Ross
8. Talking with my parents
9. Playing basketball
10. Taking a shower at the end of a long day

I really love these types of questions because they make me think about myself much more than I'm used to.

Also, Kayla I was so delighted when you recommended two door cinema club because they're my favourite new Irish band and I didn't realise anyone knew them outside Ireland. (Irish people take a lot of pride in the achievements of other Irish people).

I need to start writing these posts earlier because once again it's really late now.
Night night

I Really Like Movies

So my sister's gone now and there's only like 3 or 4 days until school starts again. While she was visiting my whole family went to see the new Planet of the Apes movie titled Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Let me just say this: it was really, really good. I don't know if any of you guys have seen the original Planet of the Apes movies (I don't really know if any of my other friends have either) but they're really good, they're classics and I highly recommend watching them. I got into them along with other things that are technically before my time such as Star Wars and Star Trek because of my family. But if you don't want to or don't feel like watching the old movies and just watched the new one you'd still get a good experience out of it. You just won't get all the references to the old movies.

Also, a while back (like last year sometime, I think) I watched the movie Freak the Mighty with Deidra and I just got around to reading the book today. Lets just say my eyes are really sore now from crying and squint reading in the evening in my vehicle.

And I recently saw a trailer that rreminded me of the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword game and I cannot wait for it to come out! LoZ games are my favourite, anyone else here like them?

Congrats Adam on getting Prom King, that's really cool. I hope your first day of school went well Katie. Kate, I hope volleyball and school are going well for you, too. Kira, I don't drink coffee ever even though my whole family is like addicted to the stuff. I prefer hot chocolate when I want a warm drink. And Deidra you are always buying those cappuccinos or lattes or whatever from school in the mornings, I put that in the same group as coffee. Campion, I hope your exams weren't to difficult and everythings going alright for you.

Deidra, you had to go and make me think of something difficult like what makes me happy and of course I have the shortest time of everyone to think about it.... thanks, thank you very much. *sarcasmsarcasm* Lol, just kidding, but yeah, it's hard for me to think of things like this on the spot so my list is things that "make me happy," but maybe not the things that make me "the happiest in the world." Also its pretty much just random order so #1 doesn't necessarily mean it's highest for me.

1. Having something turn out exactly the way you imagined it in your head.
2. Weekends.
3. My Mummi's baking, it's heavenly!
4. Daisy (and friendly pets in general)
5. Snuggling into my bed after a long day.
6. Being with my friends.
7. Hot chocolate when I'm feeling cold.
8. Reading a good book.
9. Having no homework. (which I think happened only once last year)
10. Knowing the lyrics to a song for once.

Also some of the things on your list were good, I just didn't want to be repetitive.

Current music recommendation: Two Door Cinema Club

11. You Guys

Only a few more days until my summer is over, and I too will be stuck in the prison that is school. I am very much not looking forward to it. My summer thus far has been excellent, and I don’t want it to ever end. The year to come has a lot in store for me, as it is my final year of high school.

I happen to have the same first semester as Kayla, with Biology, English and Math being our classes. I am not looking forward to the Math, as it is my least favourite subject, and the one I understand the least. My second semester consists of Chemistry, Philosophy, and a Studies of Literature. I wish I could just skip to second semester, but sadly I cannot.

I recently found a blog with a post that I thought was a cool idea. '10 Things That Make Me Happy'. I decided to do my own, and post it for this week. It was actually harder than I thought  it would be. I mean, there are plenty of things that make me happy, but when I really think about them, these are the things that really make me feel good and happy through and through. I'd like to know what's on your lists, if you guys have time.

10 Things That Make Me Happy

1. A book so good I never want it to end
2. Music that sparks memories
3. Friends that know me so well that they know what I mean when I fail at speech
4. Falling asleep when my head hits the pillow
5. Getting/Making the perfect gift for someone
6. Getting something right on the first try
7. Warm sand beneath my feet
8. The first snowfall of the year; also, the last
9. A blank page
10. The inevitability that tomorrow brings a new day

I wish you good luck on the rest of your exams Campion. I know that a bit of my soul dies each time I write one, so try to keep your spirits up. They'll be over before you know it, and then you will have some time to relax.
Kira, I can't stand the taste of coffee or red bull. But I do love sleep. I stay awake by sheer will and determination. Or I just sleep and leave homework until the next day before class, but never that really turned out well for me.
I hope you volleyball game/scrimmage went well Kate. I don't know very much about the game, though I played one year when I was in middle school. But I do know that it's fun!
I fear knowing that you are near the hurricane Katie. I do hope that you are safe, and the it passes by you with no harm. The Doctor's Wife was a very good episode. I really liked that it showed more of the TARDIS than just the control room. The new episode was also brilliant, though I was kind of confused about it all. It seemd like Moffat just threw in a bunch of different elements to sew the story back together. I can't wait to see what he does next. Also, I hope your first day of school went good.  ^.^
Adam, it looks like you had a lot of fun at the Debs, which is great. Congrats on being Prom King! The blank card deck sounds like a fun idea, can't wait to see how that turns out.
Kayla, I hope you had a lot of fun when your sister was down visiting. I'm glad that you have decided on something for your future.

I hope you've all had a good Thursday. Don't forget to be awesome. And yeah, that's about it.

It's one of those days...

I've had exams this past week, so I really haven't got a lot of time write much. It's like one in the morning and I have my Maths practice exam to get to tomorrow. This is going to pretty brief but I'm just gonna have to make an extra long post next week. Sorry about this guys
