Busy Day

Today has been an extremely busy day. We started setting up the gym for the prom tomorrow, and that is one huge job. It meant being on my feet literally all day, and now I'm exhausted. We are only about halfway through, though most of the grunt work is done. I can't wait until the decorating is finished.

Along with decorating, I have to get Kayla's birthday surprise finished. It's just about done, only the final details and wrapping to be done now. It's weird, because I'm more excited for her birthday than I was for mine.

There is now less than one month of school left. We do things weirdly here, and have our graduation ceremony before we write our final exams. It is kind of unsettling to think that I am graduating in a week. I really wish that was the end, and I wouldn't have to write final exams. *sigh*  Oh well, what can you do.

Katie, despite the fact that I don't drink tea, I am very jealous of your TARDIS mug. The only kind I've ever seen in stores are the disappearing TARDIS mugs. Never any that are actually shaped like it. Waterfire sounds like it was a really fun experience. The statue people remind me of the Weeping Angels, in a less creepy way. Also, the fire dance looked pretty cool.

Sounds like you have a busy summer planned, Kate. I am not 100% sure what I'm doing with my time off. Hopefully some travelling. I've also got to pack up my stuff and move into my dorm at the end of the summer. I don't know if I'm looking forward to that or not. In terms of driving partners, we seem to have opposing problems. I cannot drive with my mother, she's a little too high strung. I prefer to drive with my dad. And yeah, I still can't drive on my own. I didn't get my first class license until I was 17, and still really don't drive at all. There's no appeal for me.

It's been a long day, and I'm not even finished everything that I need to do. So I'm going to go and do that. Hope you all had wonderful weeks, and I wish you amazing weekends. Don't forget to be awesome!

Ready to be Home

I'm on vacation right now, but it's a bit boring here.  Even though my mother goes over to the house to take care of my dad's fish and my cats, I still worry and miss them dearly.  I'm ready to go back, but not so ready for my summer activities to begin.

I know summer conditioning starts in a few weeks, along with Drivers' Ed. Hopefully my pole-vault coach contacts me about summer practices starting soon. I'm also looking to volunteer at the local humane society.

Congrats on getting into honours band, Kira!

I hope you'll be back to your normal health soon, Campion.  At least you got to play Pokemon while you stayed home.

Deidra, there are two places that I've thought about living in in the future.  Like you, I would like to live in London or Cardiff, somewhere in the UK. Or I'd want to move to Canada somewhere.

Oh, and I have driven once with my dad, and I didn't do bad.  I prefer my mom as a driving teacher because my dad kind of stinks at teaching.  Luckily the town I'm currently in doesn't have any curbs and the residential area speed limit is only 32 km/20 mph.

Have an capital-A Awesome week

Postjacker

It's defiantly not Sunday. Nope!

I had a bit on my plate yesterday, and I can't wait to tell you all about it! But first, some other less exciting news. Finals are in two weeks, so of course I'm in complete shut down mode and all I can think about is summer. Speaking of summer I might be getting an internship at a library to pass the time.

So the reason this is Sunday and not Saturday is because of time and things. The reason I'm posting on a Sunday is because  I got home at 11:40 last night which was the last bus home. I went to the city for two reasons. 1) I went to see Dark Shadows at the mall and 2) I went to go see Waterfire.

Dark shadow was good, but in the sense that I don't regret seeing it. Three stars at most. I like Johnny Depp and Tim Burton, but this movie was eh. I laughed when cued and felt sad when needed. Basically not the best series-to-film-adaption. And the mall part. I'm not exactly a people person, no joke. A mall is like one big high school hallway. Everyone's rude, pushy, loud, and like to stop in the middle of walking to stand in the way. AND OH MY GOD DO THEY STARE! It's so annoying. I hate the mall. The one good thing is this:
A TARDIS mug. Keeps my beverages hot. I about died when I saw this! Oh and speaking of doctor who look a-likes the American version of Katherine Tate works in Bed Bath and Beyond. She checked us out of the store, my sister and I couldn't stop giggling.

I don't know if you know what Waterfire is, because I'm pretty sure its just in Rhode Island. Basically there is this event in the middle of Providence where they set up stands in the water, light the wood on fire, and pass out roses. Something that's more fun to do when your in a relationship. Unless you're me. They had people painted and dressed as statues.

Here is a really awful picture of this girl. My sisters phone doesn't have flash an neither did mine. So she had to take the photo while someone with flash did. I got a better picture of a different person, but it has my sister in it and I don't think she'd appreciate me putting her picture up. I donated a dollar to this pirate statue guy and he gave me this little orange note that I seem to have misplaced. Whoopsie!

We, being my sister, mother and I, sat on a park bench not to far away from a stand that was letting people hang dedication stars and luminaries. I decided to do a star, which came with two luminaries for ten dollars.

On either side are the two luminary notes which are pretty cheesy I must say. The star was what I really wanted to do though. When I saw them I about fell over and knew what I had to do. So I wrote Ester a 'This Star Won't Go Out' and hung it on a tree.

It's a picture filled post, I must say. this is the highlight of my week and most likely the weeks to come. Questions. Yes he did actually get a cookie with a rock. I know! And I'm not sure where I would go if I could live anywhere. I probably wouldn't leave New England. And if I did I probably wouldn't leave the U.S. I just don't see myself outside of my own little bubble. Whenever I think about the day I move away, if ever the song 'We Gotta Get Out Of This Place' by The Animals comes to mind.

JUST finished making this video clip my sister took of this guy on a gondola swinging fire all professional-like. Anyway, got things to do on this not Saturday day.

Plans for the Future Near and Far

I've been super super lazy all this week. I think I'm already in my summer mood, so I have very little motivation to do school stuff. Which is bad because everything is starting to get busy as prom and grad draws nearer and exams are in a month.

I did get to see the Avengers last weekend. I won't spoil anything, but I thought the movie was pretty great. I ended up liking Bruce Banner/Hulk and Tony Stark/Iron Man more than I thought I would. Originally I liked Thor and Captain America the best, but now I'm not too sure who's my favourite.

Thanks for your compliments on my Ood drawing. I did end up making another one, of the Silence, as a present for Deidra this time. I'm planning on doing more Doctor Who aliens, but there's so many that I want to do and like I said, schools getting really busy, so I'm not sure when/how often I'll be able to make them.

Kira, yeah my birthday's on the first. I'm really excited for it, but boy oh boy is it going to be a busy day. I have to finish decorating for prom that day, do a calculus test, hand in the written component of my data management ISU (which I will hopefully have done well before that day), do my post on here, get ready for prom, go to prom, ditch early so I can go home and celebrate my birthday with Deidra, and then if the weather cooperates and I can find our tent then we're going to sleep out in my yard. Lol I hope that's not packing too much into one day.

Deidra up until probably this grade I have always only ever imagined myself as living in Canada for the rest of my life, preferably not in Geraldton or Thunder Bay, but somewhere in Canada. I enjoy living here. However I have more recently considered the fact that I might rather live elsewhere. Definitely not the United States. Maybe somewhere like England (just because), Australia (also just because), Japan (always wanted to at least travel there for an extended period of time), or Finland (because it seems really nice and I have a lot of relatives there). Some other European countries sparked my interest as well. But in all honesty I'm not sure if I would ever be able to move so far away, to such a different and new place. It would definitely be an adventure.

Where in the World

So I get a super short week this week, as there was no school for us on Monday and I didn't go to school today. We went up to Thunder Bay to bring my niece home, do some shopping, and for some appointment of my sister's. I got everything I need for prom (basically just shoes). I am still not really looking forward to it.When we got home, we discovered that our phone isn't working. Apparently it was storming here, and our hydro/telephone pole got hit by lightning. We still have electricity and Internet (thank gosh) but our phones aren't. It's a conundrum.

Have you watched all seasons of Torchwood, Katie? I watched seasons 1-3 online, and then season 4 when it was playing on television. I liked the first two seasons, I felt they were really amazing, and the cast was just the best. Then stuff happened, and season three was so-so, but they totally ruined it in season four. They american-ized it far too much. I liked the concept of it though. Don't read farther if you haven't seen the season, but I have often wondered how things would work if suddenly all humans became immortal.

I hope you are feeling better, Campion. It always sucks when you get sick. Though getting to sleep may balance it out for me. Also, when I'm sick, I like to watch movies and shows. Also ignore school. It's good until you have to go back. I hope you get to back online again soon, for more than what little time you are getting.

I have a question for you all this week. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? I have toyed with the idea of living in London, mostly because of my love for Britain. France has come into contemplation recently, as apparently they have really good health care and government. And you know, it's France, romance capital of the world. I've given the United States a bit of thought, since my boyfriend is from there, but I'm not sure how I'd feel about that.

Anyway, this post is long and boring enough already. Hope you guys have fantastical weekends. Don't forget to be awesome!
-Deidra

I don't have a lot of time

Due to my brothers (and my own) addictions to constantly playing video games on the computer our computer time has been restricted so I really don't have a lot of time to write this but I'll try to get as much as I can in. Well, spent the last week in bed recovering from a horrible cold that I caught (it is flu season over here) so I'm still feeling a little off but apparently I was well enough to attend school today (much to my displeasure). But I guess that the upside to staying home for a few days is that all I was really able to do was play Pokemon and sleep, which was pretty good.

Anyway, I have to go now my times almost up, I promise that my post next week will be longer

So have an awesome week guys

Title-less for Eternity...

Hey, everyone. I don't have much to say this week, nothing much has happened. I got into honours band, which was pretty cool.

Campion, Kayla, you both are kind of awesome at art. Puppets, drawing. I wish I could do that. They all turned out amazingly. Good job. Kayla, it's your birthday on the first? I think I need to hijack Deidra's birthday cupcake thing...so long as I remember all of the birthdays.

Katie! You're alive! Gld you enjoyed Envirothon and Ecofair. Did your friend seriously get a cookie when he paid with a rock?

Adam, good luck with your article. I've always regarded that sort of thing as insanely difficult.

Well, I've got nothing left to say. Have a great week

Completely Forgot to Post Last Week... Oops

My cat woke me up at 5 AM today and I'm feeling a bit ill right now, so this day isn't looking so good.

Thursday I finally got my Learners permit.  I would have gotten it last year, but instead of taking Drivers' Ed, I had wanted to go to my cousin's wedding, and that conflicted with the classes.  I have yet to actually drive, but I'm excited to learn.

Deidra, ever since I was a child I have hated dresses.  Freshman year was almost a disaster for me trying to find a dress.  I did manage to find one dress that I liked.  It's the only dress I have and wear to formal things.

Adam, in my town we get about 3 months of summer. Every year we end in May and go back in August.

I really liked your puppets, Campion.  If I'm get bored and remember those, I'll probably create some for myself.

Kayla, you are amazing at drawing! That Ood looked great and so did the Silence you posted on Tumblr.

Okay, I'm going to stop here. Exhaustion is taking over.

5/20/2012

Hello again.

Hello again. So not much happened this week, I'm finished college for the year so it was a pretty boring week. I haven't been doing much, I'm trying to keep busy but there's not much to do.

I went to see the Avengers during the week. I really enjoyed it, I thought it was an absolutely brilliant film. Some of my friends thought it was too long, and I admit it could have been shorter but it was still awesome. (Also if any of you guys go see it, there's a post credits scene, actually there's two of them and one is a teaser for the Avengers 2). It was just a well made superhero film, the action scenes were suitably epic but the intervening scenes were still witty and entertaining with lots of great characters interacting with one another. I can't wait 'til it comes out on DVD and I can see it again :P

Kayla, your ood drawing was great, it was really well done plus I like doctor who so win win :)

I'm trying to get in to writing letters again. I'm out of the habit of it lately. Plus I'd like to get a penpal who speaks Spanish so I can keep up the language.

I'm working on an article to try and get published in the Irish Undergraduate Mathematics Magazine but I find that style of writing more difficult than just stories so I'll see how it works out. It'd be nice but I'm not too worked up about it.

Not Dead Yet

So hello strangers! I could come up with about a million excuses, but only one is worth explaining. I've been stressed.

Envirothon is a thing that happened yesterday. We didn't place, so no fancy metal or photograph. I'm not too bummed about it, but everyone else was. What I found funny was that because I don't go to my local high school, I didn't compete for their team and they placed second. I'm glad its over so I don't have to worry about it.

Dan Harmon is leaving Community, or at least, that's what I've heard.  I went to my old middle schools' Eco Fair which is just an event outdoors and got a wicked bad sunburn on my arms. Even though I don't get out of school until June 19th I'm still counting the days.

So the Eco Fair was really awesome this year. They had a band, bunnies, horse rides, goats, and a bunch of other venders. I think what I liked most about it though was seeing my friend John. He's a year older and goes to a different school, but great company. There was a booth for desserts and another friend of mine got himself a cupcake. John didn't have money so he tried to pay with a rock. The guy gave him a cookie!

Oh also at Envirothon we got these cool shirts that had a possum on the back (nothing to do with Low Impact Development) and around it in Latin said when it doubt, play dead. I thought that was pretty awesome. And we got free water bottles. It was a huge deal because our congressman or something was there to present awards. He was dressed in the snazzy three piece suit and the rest of us were in jeans and T-shirts.

I started watching Torchwood from the beginning. I forgot how incredible it was. Tofu ice-cream is weird, just note that. My brother graduated College this past Friday too, and I noticed the sign leading up to the school said best wishes. I'm trying to think of things to say, but I haven't been around much. I guess that's how you know when you're done...?

P.S. More next time hopefully

Happy May Long Weekend

Hey guys, hope you're all fine and dandy. It's currently May long weekend since we get Monday off school for Victoria Day, but I also got today off because I had a dentist appointment in Thunder Bay. I hate going to the dentists, it's just not enjoyable at all to have people poking around inside my mouth. However the appointment was short and I got to do some shopping afterwards so I guess it was alright in the end.

Not much else has really been going on, just the usual business from school and preparing for prom and grad. I did have a bit of free time (I say that but I was really just procrastinating) one night so I drew a picture of a possessed Ood. It turned out really well I think, and it made me realize that I really enjoy using ink as a medium.

Adam, my summers go from the end of June to the beginning of September. And a valedictorian is the person that has to do the farewell speech during the graduation ceremony. Typically it's the person that has the best grades, but for some reason this year they decided to take the top two people and then have a vote among the grads on who should be valedictorian. I had the highest grades so I was one of the nominees, however I was not chosen to be valedictorian in the end. Which sucks and bothers me immensely, but whatever. I'm trying not to dwell on it.

Campion, those puppets look soooo cool! And I definitely think there is an improvement from the first to the second one. Seeing those pictures kind of makes me want to go try making one myself.

Also since I'm in Thunder Bay for the weekend I'm hoping to be able to go see the Avengers. It's either that or Dark Shadows which I am also anxious to see.

May is Kind of Bipolar This Year

What to talk about when I don't know what to talk about. That is a question I struggle with every week, and somehow I always end up with a lengthy post about something. I'd really like to know how my brain works. Honestly, I wonder how anything gets done with the mass chaos that is my mind.

So yeah, our prom is coming up soon, the first of June, and no matter what Kayla says otherwise I am not particularly excited for it. I'm actually starting to get a bit anxious about it. Dances aren't really my thing, so I have this feeling that the whole affair is going to be nerve racking for me. I don't particularly like dancing, or large crowds of people, or dressing up, or the mainstream-type music that tends to get played at these things. It will probably end up being  blurred memory later on.

June first is always Kayla's birthday (a major reason why I am consenting to go to prom) and I have been thinking of and working on what I am giving/doing for her. I have a really secret project that I'm working on, and I'm really hoping it turns out the way I am wanting it to. And a lot of ideas swirling in my head.

My summer vacation begins at the end of June after I write my final exam (hopefully on the 22) and goes to about the first week of September. Then I start university (scary thought). I don't know what I am going to do with my summer, aside from hopefully hopefully hopefully going to visit Hunter. Other than that, a lot of relaxing and swimming and staying up late and sleeping in.

Our May weather is kind of mixed up right now. It keeps going from nice and warm to rainy and cold. It's kind of annoying. I am actually kind of fond of the rainy weather. I've gotten to love storms, thunder, and lightning. It's weird because as a kid I was terrified of them.

Your puppets turned out really amazing, Campion. I especially like the second one, it's got more of a defined body and detail than the first. Just goes to show that practice makes a better robot puppet. I wish we got to do cool things like that in art. When I took it waaay back in grade nine, the coolest thing we did was working with clay, which ended up a bust for me as my first project got ruined, and to make the grade up I had to make a second thing that was worse than the first one.

As for the Avengers, I haven't seen it but I've heard nothing but good things about it. It looks like a really cool movie. Lots of action and whatnot. I think I am most interested in being introduced to all of the characters, as I haven't seen any of the back story movies.

Anywho, hope you all have good weeks and weekends. Don't forget to be awesome!
-Deidra

My Puppets

I mentioned last week that I built a puppet out of junk in my art class week, I got around to taking some pictures of it, so here it is.....

It's not really much to look at but I'm proud of it, for some reason. Also, since my last post I also managed to construct another puppet, it's better than the last one and it's a hell of a lot easier to operate....

Anyway beyond building my puppets I really didn't do that much this week, well I also watched the Legend of Korra (which is amazing by the way) but I guess I don't do that much.

Kira, yeah I know how you feel, I'm not a big fan of May weather either. Except here, it isn't as much hot... as it is freezing cold and constantly raining.

Adam, yeah I really have no idea what a Valedictorian is either and good job on training for a marathon. I could never have the will to do anything like that.

Kayla, I hope you have a really good time at your prom (your dress looks lovely by the way), also good job on getting the Valedictorian (I don't know what it is but it sound really important).

Kate, I'm glad that you could give your mum a good mothers day and birthday, I'm useless when it comes to that kind of stuff

Deidra, I know how you feel about not liking the prom, I don't really like them myself. But it's good that you and Kylas are going and I hope that you have a good time. Over here we call proms, balls and I really don't think I'll be going to my schools one, never really liked that sort of thing.

Anyway, have an awesome week guys
DFTBA

P.S- We're all talking about the Avengers this week aren't we? Every post this week seems to relate to it. Well I haven't seem (but I really want to) my brother went to see the movie with a few of his friends and he says that it's pretty awesome, so it sounds like it's worth checking out.

I Do Believe This Is Our 290th Post

I don't know if we have any drafts in there, but I'm going to hope we don't and keep my title.

So, it's been a pretty slow week. My friend and I went to the store to get birthday gifts for another friend. We ended up getting her a panda pillow pet, a copy of The Fault In Our Stars, a monkey that screams, and a necklace. We also ordered her a few things from perpetualkid.com that will arrive soon enough.

It has been really hot around here lately..I don't really like it. I normally love May weather...

Adam, good luck on marathon training. I did a half marathon once. That didn't end well. Also, good job on the chess thing - I love chess.

Kayla - me? Wear myself out? Not likely.Campion, congrats on the puppet and your nerdfigherlike.

I've got to go study right now, so DFTBA,

Summer

Hi everyone, sorry I didn't post last week, I was just studying non stop for my exams and by the time I realised I'd missed my post it was like Wednesday. My exams seemed to go pretty well so at least I think the work will have paid off.
So I have the longest summer I've had since I started you know.... education and stuff, I'm off for about four months until the middle of September. I really don't know what I'm going to do to fill my time. I need to earn a bit of money for next years college but at the same time I want to down to Dublin to visit my friends a bit, but buses are expensive. How long are the summer holidays in your countries?
I'm hoping to go see the Avengers next week, I'm really looking forward to it. The ads for it look really good and I've always been a fan of that genre of films.
Can I ask what a Valedictorian is? That's probably a stupid question but we don't have that here (or don't call it that here anyway). Congratulations on it anyway Kayla. :)
Let's see, what am I doing lately? Em, I've started training to run a marathon in October, I've gotten very unfit so I thought that would be a good idea. I started studying stuff on Khan Academy and Crash Course. I've started playing Chess... Yeah that's about it really....
So yeah, I guess this post is going to kinda short.... I need to start finding more things to write about.
Anyway, DFTBA

Meelo is One of My Fave Characters

I'm in a really good mood right now and there is one single reason for that. I stayed home from school today. Just because nothing important was happening and I didn't want to go, so I just stayed home. And let me tell you, that is majorly relaxing. I ended up cleaning my room a bit and suntanning since the weather was ridiculously good until about 3 o'clock (good thing I wasn't cooped up inside school or I would have missed it). I was lucky though because my mom was out of town for work today so I just asked my dad if I could stay home and he didn't have a problem with it. If my mom had been here she probably would have made me go because I didn't have any real excuse to stay home.

Since the weather has been so nice I've been getting into my spring cleaning mood again. I just finished sorting through my clothes and holy crap do I ever have a lot of clothes. It was getting pretty crazy so I decided to donate a bunch that I didn't really wear anymore.

Oh! And like Deidra mentioned we went prom dress shopping and I also got my dress. It's teal and I really like it. Only problem is it has sparkles on it so whenever I wear it or touch it or move it around to much they get EVERYWHERE. (lol I was in the middle of cleaning when I took this picture, so don't mind the piles of clothes scattered around)

I've also been rewatching some of the 10th Doctor episodes of Doctor Who recently. It's been nice since I found that I forgot some of the things that had happened. Plus David Tennant, so yeah, need I say more?

Kate I really really really really want to see The Avengers movie too. For these movies I usually find that you don't really have to know much background on the superheros to still enjoy the movie. You could always google it though if you really wanted. Or watch all the previous movies, haha. And you should definitely try making some fruit tarts! We found a really easy recipe, they're not hard to make at all and they tasted pretty great.

Kira try not to wear yourself out too much with school. Campion congrats on your nerdfighterlike. That puppet you made sounds pretty cool too, you should show us a picture if you can.

DFTBA
Kayla

PS - Soooooo excited for prom now that I know for sure Deidra's coming. I can't even describe it so I'll let Meelo do the talking for me:

First Time For Everything

No! My post is late! Ahh! I'm sorry. I decided to take a nap last night at 7:30, and intended for it to only last about an hour, but apparently I was much more tired than I thought I was. I woke up at 12:30 from people texting me. And then I fell back asleep until 6:30 this morning. So I got around 11 hours of sleep. Which is good and bad, but mostly good, since I'm feeling pretty refreshed now.

So yesterday, Kayla and I went down town during our spare period and looked at dresses for prom. I ended up actually trying some on, and miraculously found a dress that I didn't completely hate. And I bought it. This may sound totally normal to you guys, but I've never owned a dress before, as I hate dresses, so this is kind of momentous for me. I guess now I have to go to prom. No more excuses. It's black, goes down to just above the ankles, and ties up around the neck. I will try to get a picture as soon as I get it back (my grandma is fixing it for me, as it is a bit loose).

Kate, I haven't seen The Avengers yet, but I am really excited for it. It's apparently a really fantastic movie, with lots of different elements that haven't been combined in a good movie in a long time. I don't think it will require any background knowledge, as that would just denote from the movie's awesomeness. As for the fruit tarts, every time you reblog them on Tumblr and I see them it makes me hungry. They are so good. Also, so jealous that you are almost done school.

I have to get up now and get ready for school. I figured since I woke up early and wasn't tired I'd write my post, so that it wasn't extremely late. Not a lot to say. Hope you guys have really fun weekends. Apparently Mother's Day is on Sunday, so good luck with that as well. Don't forget to be awesome!
-Deidra

Again

My week this time around, was okay I suppose. I didn't really do anything, then again I never do anything... reflecting on this I realize that I should find a way to make my life more interesting, well I haven't vlogged in a while... I know that I'll probably never get around to it.

Something that I actually did do this week was in art class, the project that I'm working on is centered around puppets and the other day one of the art teachers gave me a big box filled with junk, like computer pieces random bits of wire and random pieces of metal (And no, I have no idea why they had this box lying around) . And using the pieces from this box I managed to construct a marionette puppet. Now actual puppet builders have years of experience, fine tools and good materials to work with. I, however have never made a puppet before, all I had to use was a box of assorted junk and all that I had to work with was a few pairs of pliers. The puppet that I did end up making did look sort of cool (in a piece of junk kind of way) and I do like the thing, even though controlling the bloody thing is like trying to text wearing a pair of garden gloves. It's movements are awkward and not really that impressive and the right arm and right leg are way to heavy but I am proud of it, mostly because it's the first puppet I've ever built.

It's getting late so just one more thing before I go to bed, a while ago I joined a Facebook group for people who are nerdfighters throughout New Zealand. And sometime last year, I started chatting and messaging a new friend that I had made within the group. She lived quite far away from me but we were just chatting on the internet, so it never really seemed to matter that much. Then I found out that she was going to university in the same city that I lived in, needless to say I was happy that a fellow nerdfighter was moving into the neighborhood. To cut a long story short, we hung out a few times and then we started dating and now she's my girl friend. So yeah, I have a nerdfighter like now... I really can't think of a way to end that without being awkward but there you go.

So I'd better stop this before it gets anymore awkward

So anyway have an awesome week guys

Strawberries, Nostalgia, and Mom

So...I have had an extremely boring week. Nothing much has happened - a lot of homework, a lot of exam prep, and insomnia. I have been spending all together too much time on a certain website called happynews.com I have no idea why.

Last Saturday, I wanted to go on the Walk for Wishes with my friends, but I couldn't. They won't let it go.

Kate, I'm super jealous that your school ends so soon. The time is dragging out until June 26th...

Deidra, Kayla, those fruit tarts look delicious. Strawberries. Yum. Now I think I'm going to go to my kitchen and get some...

Campion, I practically define nostalgia. I see a snow flake, I think of going sledding as a kid, or going to Bonhomme Carnaval in Quebec and being super excited with my face, which normal doesn't flush, bright pink. For those of you that don't know, that's a really huge winter festival. With what you said about grandparents as compared with parents reminded me of a conversation I had with a few friends. We call one of our friends mom, because she's always telling us to be more careful and to stop doing stupid things. Another of our robotics teammates is a lot stricter and more distant. We were debating which one was mom and which was grandma because grandparents don't see you as often as your parents, but they often let you do what you want a lot more...I just realized that for anyone not there, that probably made no sense. But I don't feel like deleting it.

Have a great week,
Kira

A Few Good Days

This last weekend has been pretty full... well, fuller than usual.  Saturday I went out and bought my father his birthday gift. I bought him a birthday card and a new wallet.  I also surprised him by buying his favourite kind of Dairy Queen Blizzard (which is an ice cream treat, in case you don't know).  His birthday was today and he liked his gifts.

On Sunday I surprised Mom by taking her to her favorite restaurant for a birthday/mothers' day surprise.  This year my mom's birthday happens to fall on the same day as mothers' day.  Because I figured all the restaurants would be crazy full that day, I decided to take her out a week early.

I've been hearing a lot about The Avengers movie, and I'm interested in seeing it.  If any of you have seen it can you tell me if one should have prior knowledge of the superheroes before seeing it?  Or will it still be awesome if you're new to the characters?

Kayla and Deidra, I am so jealous of those fruit tarts.  I've always wanted to try something like that but I've never made any.  They just look so tasty and pretty, and a good percentage of the food I reblog on Tumblr are fruit tarts.

Eight more days of school left for me.  I can't wait for summer.

Be on the Lookout for Shia LaBeouf!

Hey everyone, hope your weeks have gone well. Mine has been quite alright; I did pretty good on one of my calculus tests, I'm working on a watercolour painting in art, I'm starting to figure out what classes I have to register for my first year of university, and just today I had some spare time so I built a house of cards that was 6 levels high.Oh, and I was also nominated as valedictorian. There will be a vote next week to see who will be valedictorian out of the nominees. Even though I don't really like making speeches I'm still hoping that I'll get it.

Deidra's over for a sleepover tonight so we decided to make some more awesome food for supper and dessert. This time we made chicken samosas. Well, kind of anyway. We didn't have all the spices the recipe called for so we just kind of put in a bunch of stuff until it tasted good (note: for some reason cinnamon tastes really good with chili powder and curry powder). We also decided that we would try to make the dough instead of just buying some premade stuff, and that turned out.... interesting. In the end we couldn't shape them right because of the dough so we just made them into dumpling shapes since it was easier. I have to say though, this was probably one of the favourite things I've made for supper.

For dessert we made a mixed fruit tart, with strawberries, apples, and kiwi. It was super easy and equally delicious so I don't know why I haven't ever made it before.

Adam I hope your exams have been/are going well. Good luck! Try not to stress too much.

Kate I am super jealous you get out of school so early. I just want my final year to be over already, but it just has to drag out all the way to the end of June.

Campion, like Deidra I also write the title last and its usually just something relating to what I have talked about in the post. But if I can't think of anything good for that then I just put something random since it's just a title so its not that big of a deal really. I also get nostalgic quite a bit about things I remember from the past. And about the whole thing where your mom said your grandparents would be really strict, well that's probably because they were her parents and the grandparent-grandchild relationship is quite different from the parent-child one. My grandparents are the same way, and I love them for it.

PS - you guys should totally check out this song, its funny and random: Actual Cannibal Shia Labeouf

Spontaneous

It's Thursday! And I'm watching The Big Bang Theory! And Sheldon has a glaring of cats! It's the Manhattan Project! AND ZAZZY! (that's a lot of exclamations) I thought I'd start off my post with some excitement, since the rest probably won't be.

My weekend and week have been pretty tame. I've gotten a lot of work done, too. I finally started my Independent Learning Course (ILC), Studies of Literature. I've had everything since about January, but as I've said before I'm a terrible procrastinator. Anyway, I finally got the kick in the butt that I needed and started it. I got the first unit finished on Tuesday, and got the mark back pretty quickly. So now I've got 94% in that class, which is really good. It's my highest mark, and since I am going into English in university this mark will be really good for me.

Speaking of university, I got my dorm room assignment this week. I am in the quiet hall (or nerd-hall, as my mum likes to call it). It's kind of a relief to know that I'll have somewhere to live in the fall. Next I need to register for classes. I'm really hoping that it won't be too difficult.

I had to look up The Omnivore's Dilemma, since I didn't quite understand the point of your blog. It seems pretty interesting, something that would make you really question human life. From what I read on Wikipedia, it sounds like it'll be something interesting to study.
I'm glad that you enjoyed Paper Towns, Adam. I also felt a little disheartened over the ending. It was good, don't get me wrong, but it felt kind of lacking. Sort of like there were things still left unresolved.
I've never really had troubles thinking of titles for my posts, Campion. I like to think of them once I've finished my post, something that is witty or clever or at least has something remotely to do with my post. When it comes to nostalgia, I've been experiencing it a lot this past year. It's probably because I'm facing the reality of leaving home and growing up (which is overrated). This year, I've gone in and out with playing Pokemon on my Game Boy Colour, reread some Dr. Seuss books, and played lots and lots of Tetris. And of course Death Note, which I find to be an homage to my childhood cartoon watching days.

That's really all I have to say. Five more weeks to prom, six more weeks until I graduate, and seven more weeks until I write my final exams. *sigh* This is moving too fast. I just want to pause time, curl up with some original Doctor Who, and hide from the world for a little while. Well, don't forget to be awesome!!
-Deidra
P.S- While writing a note for Chemistry today, I wrote the word spontaneous about 14 times. Woo Equilibrium.  -_-
P.S.S- Hey look, inspiration for my title. Even though it has nothing to do with my actual post.

My Week

Probably the most unoriginal title I have ever some up with, I noticed that as I keep on writing posts I find that I have a lot of trouble coming up with good titles for my posts. Does anyone have this problem? If so I think we might need a theme or something for naming our posts with, either that or I just need to be a bit more creative with my posts.

So anyway, this week has a reminder for me that winter is just around the corner and the warmth of summer will soon leave, admittedly that reminder was an icy chill that nearly froze me to death on my way to school a few days ago but I guess that's besides the point. I guess I really shouldn't complain as winter here isn't as brutal as the winters that the rest of you guys have to deal with.

Last weekend I stayed with my grand parents and I have to say it was probably one of the greatest weekends I've ever had. Ever since I was a little child I've always loved visiting my grandparents house. Our parents were going out of town for the weekend and me and my younger brother had to stay because we needed to catch up on some school work, so that's why our parents left us at our grand parents house, before we went there our mother was telling us that as a child our grandmother was a very restrictive and controlling person and that she controlled most of my mothers life as a teenager and that we wouldn't get any free time from all the homework we were doing but when we did end up visiting, our grandparents treated us like a couple of kings. We were allowed as much ice-cream as we wanted from the freezer, ate the delicious meals that our grand mother made and trust me she's a fantastic cook, found my uncles old X-Box that I used to play all the time when I was like twelve with all the old games I use to play on it and my uncle had the first eight seasons of the original Pokemon anime, staying there was just so awesome. I really miss being there and it made me look back, realizing that I've spent a lot of my childhood at that house and that I have a lot of happy memories there. I find myself getting more and more nostalgic as my final year at high school draws to a close. I'm not the only one who's done this, right?

Anyway, it's late and I've got a busy day at school tomorrow

So have an awesome week guys

P.S- Since I was staying at my grand parents house, that was why I wasn't able to post last week
