The Weather Loves Proving Me Wrong

Last week I talked about how it had rained and spring was coming. It snowed again.  On Wednesday, my town woke up to about 2 inches of snow. Thursday it melted, but once again on Friday, we woke up to another 2 inches of snow. It was sunny through out most of the day Friday, but around 2:30 it suddenly started snowing, and snowing hard.  Even though the snowfall didn't last long, about 4 inches of snow fell in about 30 minutes.
It only took about 20 minutes after the snowfall for the snow to already be melting off the trees and the streets to be completely clear of snow.
The region I live in seems to have mood swings all the time.  One minute will be sunny, the next will be thunder-storming with a possibility of a tornado.

I hope your mom's operation went well, Kira. I love freerice but I never have enough patience to keep going.
Campion, I feel jealous because of all the rain you have. I understand how having rain fall seemingly all the time would make it undesirable, I just think it's nice.
In answer to your question Deidra, I would absolutely love to have wings.  I've had so many dreams in which I have angel wings and get to fly around.  The next thing I would choose is to have gills.  It'd be cool to be able to breathe in water.
I've never heard of the show the Walking Dead, Kayla. I was wondering why you'd like to have a turtle shell. What aspects of having a shell appeal to you most?
Katie, when it comes to reading, I don't really have any tips for not getting distracted.  When I was in 5th grade, which is when I first got into reading, I would read the Harry Potter books while the TV was playing them.  I always managed to get really into the book and look randomly look up at the TV to find that the movie seemingly jump forward in the plot line.  I tend to be able to stay focused if the book I'm reading is very good. The only time I sometimes can't focus on what I'm reading is when I'm in a quite room, like if I'm in my room and there's no sound and all I'm doing is reading.
I hope you do well in your classes, especially Calculus, Adam.  I find Rugby and interesting sport though I don't watch much of it.  I don't really watch much of any sport, but if I did, Rugby would definitely be one I watch a lot of.  I have to admit most of my knowledge about the game of Rugby comes from the movie Forever Strong (which I recommend watching by the way).

So today was our first track and field practice. It went all right. We mostly ran around the track and went off the routines and such.  The only disappointing thing is that we have a morning practice at 6:30 because the school called a half day due to our girls' basketball team making State (which hasn't happened in 25ish years).

Reading and rugby are awesome.

Hi, everyone, I hope you're weeks went okay. I had a pretty eventful week I think.

My tests went quite well, I'm not sure about Spanish but German was very easy so that was a relief. I have another important test this week on Calculus, I'm quite nervous about that, but considering I'm writing this post at half 11 and I haven't done any revision yet, I probably can't complain if I find it hard.

The rugby game was really good on Saturday, I enjoyed it so much. Ireland won 42-10 against Italy, they didn't play that well at the start though.Since most of you come from places where rugby isn't all that popular, here's a poorly edited video of the match I was at. It's a little like American Football except you don't wear protective gear, you can't throw the ball forward and you have to touch the ball off the ground in the end bit to score.

Anyway, I finished the book I was reading, it was good. It had a very simple storyline but there was a sort of sadness running through it, it puts "the hollow lust for gold" or want for money into perspective as something we have to try and live without. I've started reading "The Great Gatsby", it's quite a classical old-fashioned book, but it's extremely enjoyable so far. I think reading books like Harry Potter (wonderfully crafted stories with immersive worlds though they may be) are too easy to read. I just mean that I can float through a harry potter book without paying full attention and still enjoy the book, it is to books what Ed Sheeran is to music, very talented but at the same time I don't need to concentrate fully to appreciate the song. But with something like the great gatsby I have to really focus to realise how brilliant and insightful the language is. I just love the quote "...what foul dust floated in the wake of his dreams that temporarily closed out my interest in the abortive sorrows and short-winded elations of men."

Ok, I should probably go study for my calculus test. Also, muppets were really good. :)

A Series of Whys

Brought to you by What & Who Inc. It's been a pretty awful week with many lows and a few highs. Mostly because I've had the week off, and have been bored out of my mind. Usually the vacation feels long, and I can't wait to go back to structure after the first few days, but it feels too short and uneventful. I haven't done any work since last Friday. What's weird is that I don't miss anyone really. I mean it would be nice to see friends and a few teachers, but I'm not as ecstatic as I was over winter break. I'm not sure why.

I think it's because of Envirothon. I like it, a bit, but not enough to go through with it. I want to drop it, but there's no other club I would really rather do. I like learning about sustainability, and environmental ways of doing things, or eco news with my state. But you know that click you get when you really like something, and you can't stop learning it, or when you find a book you really like. I just don't have that click when Envirothon comes around.

Wow I sounds joyful. Let's move onto the highs. Kayla's post for a start. I got overly excited when she mentioned Someone That I Used To Know, because my brother showed me that video a while back, and one of his friends was apart of the making of the song or something. Not quite sure, but I thought that was cool.

Another high was Thursday, over here it was 60 degrees Fahrenheit which is I think is around 16 degrees Celsius. I went for a walk around my neighborhood that day, which was nice, but I wore the wrong shoes so I got blisters. The other high was that I wrote a short story as an assignment about the painting Liberty Leading the People for our French Rev. unit and my teacher e-mailed me back saying he liked it. I felt the end lacked detail though. If you want to read it, it's posted here

I've been slowly catching up with Buffy this past vacation, but I'm not much farther past season five. When I'm done I'll start Angel. I've heard of The Walking Dead, but don't know what its about. I seem to be the only one on the internet to have not watched any of Sherlock. I want to, but just haven't gotten to it. Oh, I might get a Mac in a few weeks! I bought a new desk, and a bookshelf to go with it. I'm excited for that.

Do you guys have any tricks to help yourselves stay focused while reading? I seem to be struggling lately with staying on task with books. I've started so many, and can't seem to finish them. And on the topic of humans and animals, if I could choose which to be, I would be an animal. Our emotions and brains worry too much, that and I'd rather be a turtle. I really like turtle's.

As a recap: Vacations are boring, should I stay with Envirothon?, I watch few T.V. shows, reading is hard for some reason, and I long to be a turtle. Until next Saturday...

Bye!♥

I wonder if a tail would improve my balance

Hey everyone. Hope your weeks have been going well. Grad photos were this week, which I almost completely forgot. Besides our individual ones we were allowed to sign up for buddy pictures so Deidra and I got some done, we did the Nerdfighters hand sign in one picture.

I did manage to finally go see Chronicle last weekend. It was pretty good, not exactly what I was expecting to see, but good none the less. I think I liked it because if by some chance some teens got super powers in real life I could see them behaving the same way the guys in the movie did.

Our teachers just informed us today that there's going to be a field trip to Thunder Bay on March 2nd to go view a bunch of science and medical labs. I'm really excited about it because I'm going into biology for university so I think it will be cool to go see what everything is like. We're even going to be seeing a DNA lab so that's cool.

My sister just showed me this song and it's already stuck in my head. It's called Somebody That I Used to Know (feat. Kimbra) by Gotye. You guys should check it out. Oh, and I only just realized that Martin Freeman, the guy who plays Watson in Sherlock, is also playing Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit. It's kind of strange I didn't realize it sooner I think, but I guess it makes sense because I only started watching Sherlock a while ago. Also just randomly wondering, do any of you guys watch the TV show The Walking Dead?

Adam, hope your tests went well. I've never even watched a rugby game on TV or in real life before (mostly because I'm not really into watching sports, but also because rugby isn't really as big here in Canada usually everything is about hockey) so it will be interesting to see those pictures if you post them.

Kate, I've often wondered what animals think when they see humans. I mean we stand upright, we have no tails, and we have no head-to-toe fur. Whereas we're completely fine with how we look it's very strange to think about it from an outside point of view.

I thought a bit about your question Deidra and I think I would choose a prehensile tail. It just seems like it would be useful to have an extra limb that can grab and hold stuff. Runners up: wings, gills, and a turtle shell.

Chameleonism?

I am not much in the mood for writing tonight, especially since I had a random nap a short while ago. I was laying on the couch watching The Big Bang Theory and I guess I just sort of fell asleep. I woke up like an hour and a half later, and was still tired. I haven't been sleeping very well this week, which is annoying since it's a short week and I would assume that I would have more energy to get through it.

Not much has been going on in Deidra-land this week, mostly just getting work done on time and not procrastinating. So far I haven't done a good job on the not procrastinating part, but I think I'm getting better. I started my next philosophy assignment earlier than I usually do (which is usually the day it's due), so I may even have some spare time tomorrow. What I am going to do with it is a mystery right now. Maybe I will bring my Game Boy to school and play some Pokemon. Or read.

The change in bloggers on Saturday/Sunday still confuses me when I read it. Like, I will check in Saturday night, see that Katie has blogged, and then wonder where Adam is and why he missed posting. Of course, only after this train of thought do I remember that it is Saturday and the change and everything. I have a terrible memory sometimes.
I hope your tests went well, Adam. The plays you seen sound quite interesting, and very funny. Though I guess it would take some knowledge of Ireland and Irish stuff to understand some of the jokes.
I have had some thoughts on human appearance, Kate. We seem to be very stretched out, like everything about us is exposed, whereas animals are more curled together and protected. Also, why is it that the coolest/most useful thing we have are thumbs? I want wings or poison or chameleonism. That would be really cool. Question: If you could add something different to your body, something inhuman, what would it be?
I hope your mom's operation went well Kira. Wish her the best of luck at recuperating. Also, that is a lot of time spent at robotics. Is it difficult to do? What does it entail, exactly? I kind of imagine it as you and a bunch of people sitting in a room filled with wires and stuff, putting together some sort of weird robot creature thing (my mind is strange).
I hope you weren't actually late this morning, Campion. I was thinking about your annoyance at the rain, and was wondering if I would prefer it over the constant snowfall that seems to be occurring here this week. At first I thought I would, as I like rain and don't much like the continuously growing snow banks, but I think I like snow better. It seems to add a sort of softness to everything, a clean look to an otherwise chaotic world.

And because I can think of no way to finish this post, I leave you with this. Don't forget to be awesome!

The Shortest Post I've Ever Done

Well, my week has been better than previous weeks I’ve had. So I guess that’s been pretty good. But unfortunately the eternal thing that seems to have plagued my country all summer has returned with a vengeance this week… the rain. Thanks to the rain, this summer has been fairly awful but apparently it’s been worse in other parts of the country so I guess I can’t complain. But it seems that no matter what time of year it is, the horrible constant rain seems to follow us.

Now I have to keep this one shorter than usual I’m afraid because I’m literally about to leave for school and I’m already late.

So have an awesome week guys

Late Night Procrastination

Okay, maybe not quite that late. Whatever. I don't really have much time, because I'm typing this while eating ramen noodles and getting work done.

Kate, I have thought about our human appearance. We do look rather strange. Kind of clumsy looking too, compared with some other animals. Man, without our opposable thumbs, we'd be useless.

Kayla, it feels a bit sad that I actually still read them. I was being all nostalgic for the days of me being like three years old and curled up in bed reading them...

I have nothing to really say, because not much has happened. I did spent fifty seven hours at robotics over the past week. Ship day is at midnight. I wish I could have stayed that long, but my mom's having an operation tomorrow, so I should get some sleep and go with her. I donated 5400 grains of rice on Freerice. Then I got tired. And that's all I have to say for now, so bye!

2/20/2012

The 20th of February, 2012.

The finale to the second series of Sherlock was... everything I imagined it to be.  It was intense, sad, funny, and pretty much everything else.  I cried like I did with Tfios.  I would definitely recommend Sherlock to anyone.

Today was the first rainfall of the year.  Unless the weather continues being weird, I imagine my town won't be getting anymore snow. This is good because of many reasons. 1) I always loved listening to the rain. 2) This means Spring is coming, and it's only been recently, in the past few years, that I really started to enjoy Spring a lot more.  3) Hopefully there won't be anymore snow because Track and Field season is starting next monday. I'm very excited for that!

Sometimes my brain goes off on these random thought trains and I end up with a ton of random questions.  Example: Have you ever thought about how weird humans look? Compared many other animals, we do look strange. Of course these all thoughts I've had. I've also thought about technology, things like televisions, computers, etc, and how they work and sometimes it just blow my mind.  I don't think it's something that should fascinate me as much as it does... but it's just really cool to think about.

Kate

I had more to say than I initially thought.

I'm not really sure as to what I should write but I'm going to type and see what ends up on the page.

Not much has happened since I last posted. I went to see a play on Monday, I really enjoyed it, it was callec "Bus Banter". It was a series of about 10 short sketches/monologues set on buses, either Dublin bus (the bus for getting around Dublin) or Bus Eireann (the bus service for getting around Ireland in general). Some of the sketches were hilarious, one was of three tourists, german, english and american on a tour bus where the driver is giving information in irish and a North-side Dubliner is translating (pretty badly). I also loved one of a guy sitting on the bus trying to learn a soliloquy from Hamlet.

Also, sort of on the topic, there's a pretty big divide in Dublin. The river which runs through it divides in north and south side. If anyone read the book "The Outsiders" by S.E. Hinton, the north side is like the greasers and the south side is like the Socs. I actually wrote an essay making a comparison for English class once. Anyway, stereotypically the south side is extremely posh and the north side is really rough. The accents don't exactly help the stereotype. :)

On the topic of books (I'm just on a roll here :P) I'm reading a book at the moment called "The Sisters Brothers", I'm really enjoying it, it's a western set in the 1850's. The style of writing is very interesting, the longest chapter so far has been about 5 pages and the shortest has been half a page. It's kinda weird but I like it.

In other Adam related news, I'm going to a rugby game this weekend between Ireland and Italy, I'm pretty excited, I haven't been to a rugby game in six years, it should be a nice experience, I'll post photos.

In an attempt to make this seem longer I'v done more spacing than usual. :)

Anyway, I've got two tests this week which are worth 15 percent each of my final grade. So that's a bit nerve-inducing I guess. Also, I want to try to get into writing creatively a bit more, I miss doing short stories. So I think I might take that up again.

That's all from me, have a good week everyone.

Well

It's been ages since I've posted, hasn't it? So much has happened, however I have the memory of a goldfish, so I can only clearly describe the past two days.

First being Friday. We switched our cable company, so we now have Verizon instead of Cox. I realize now that with different companies come different channels. Like, I have this one channel called YouToo which is like YouTube, but for television. They have this program, no joke, called 'Lol pets' and it is just a bunch of animals being cute!

I also just got netflix, which is cool. So I mostly just want to go explore that for awhile, which is why this is so short, apologies. I had an Envirothon meeting today, and these guys behind me had a sonic screwdriver. I was spazing out, but didn't actually go and talk to them. I'm like that a lot.

I like the topic of accents. I think it would be neat to hear all of us in the same room. I'm from Rhode Island, so we tend to add r's to the end of everything, i.e. "idear". The best example though of our accents is when my friends cousins from Ohio came and asked why we all spoke with British accents! That makes me laugh, because people mistake my sister for being English, Australian, and southern. None of which are right, but all equally hilarious.

I must go, and watch the original Star Trek, the first few episodes of Sherlock, Buffy seasons 5-7, and movies.

Bye♥

P.S. My sister and I ordered the Hunger Games off of this site called Alibris, and they came from England. The book uses metric so my sister keeps getting confused!

Super Powers For the Win

So I finished watching Sherlock this week, it was pretty darn amazing. I can't wait for more. I've also been reading a bit this week. I found this lovely book in our school library called A Map of the Known World by Lisa Ann Sandell. It was very touching and had a lot of good meaning in it. Be warned though it is quite a tear jerker, or at least it was for me.

I've also been really enjoying my art class so far, I'm glad I decided to take it. Especially because I already know that calculus is going to be difficult for me. I just wish my schedule would have allowed me to take art all through high school. Darn math or science always got in the way.

Since it's a long weekend for us my family is going to Thunder Bay and I'm hoping to go to the theatres to see Chronicle. I've been wanting to go see it for a while now. Campion I really liked your review; I also really enjoy super hero movies (and books) so that was part of the reason why I've been eager to see it.

I'd never really thought too much about the fact that there are different types of Irish accents, but it makes sense seeing as there are also different Canadian accents. I'm pretty sure I have a sort of more rural Canadian accent since I've lived in a small town my whole life, but honestly I can't really tell. Actually now that I think about it I think I have a blend of Canadian and American (I probably picked it up from the TV). In terms of the most stereotypical Canadian things to say: I do say "eh," I say "zee" not "zed," and I say "about" not "aboot" ("aboot" is really more of a Maritime thing).

I've seen Captain America a couple of times so I'm not sure what you don't understand about the ending, but I can explain it a bit. Spoilers ahead for those of you who haven't seen the movie yet. Basically Steve Rogers (Captain America) crashed a plane in the Arctic to stop the bombs on board from causing any damage to America. He ended up frozen there for like 70 years before the military finds him again. They set up this whole thing to make it seem as though it's still back in the 1940s so that it's not a huge shock for him, but he finds out it isn't, freaks out, and runs outside into the modern world. And that's basically it. Oh, and obviously he didn't age or die or whatever because he's Captain America so he can do that I guess.

Oh my gosh Kira, I haven't heard anyone mention Animorphs for years. I didn't ever read all that many of them, just a couple, but my sister was really into them so she would always tell me about them. I always liked the covers though. And I think I remember seeing a few episodes from the TV show. The animorph power is really cool in my opinion.

Just Another Thursday

This week has been rather annoying for me. It has been filled with lots of stuff to do and work to be done, but I honestly just want to sleep. And sleep. And sleep. I've been feeling kind of off the last couple of days, and now I am sort of catching a cold. It's rather bothersome.

I have watched a lot of movies this week, all of which have been really good. A few to mention are Eternal Sunshine, 500 Days of Summer, and The Dead Poet's Society. It's been nice to take time from life to just lay in bed and watch movies. I generally don't watch many movies unless it's a weekend and it becomes an occasion.

I finished The Fault in our Stars on Sunday. It was kinda the second time I've read it. The first time I had it read to me over Skype just after the book came out. But it is such a good book, I am so glad I got the opportunity to get a copy. I was thinking that I would have to wait for my birthday to get a copy.

As for accents, I don't really feel like there is much of a Canadian accent. I've been told before that there is a distinct accent, but none that I can thus far tell. With me it becomes a bit different because I speak some French, so that tends to blend into it some.

I didn't do much for Valentine's Day, except for a bakesale for our yearbook committee. I am not much a fan of the entire thing, probably mainly cause I have never had a boyfriend or anything to spend it with. Of course, all of the people that I would like to spend it with live far far away from me.

I really don't feel like I have much to say. All of my classes have started now, and I am not really liking philosophy. I start my work placement on Tuesday, after the family day vacation on Monday that I'm pretty sure only happens in Canada. (basically our way of getting a long weekend in February)

And so another day has gone

I swear that my titles are getting less and less creative. I think I'm gonna need to start using random word generators soon. So anyway, seeing as how I've developed a bit of a habit of doing film reviews for no apparent reason, I thought that I would do a review of a movie I saw today with a friend of mine. The superhero movie, Chronicle.

When I heard of another found footage type film, I pretty much dismissed it right away but when I heard it was a superhero found footage film I found the concept on it interesting enough and the trailers were absolutely brilliant so that got my attention enough to go and see it.

After seeing it, I now know that this isn't a found footage movie. Unlike other found footage films, this film opens with and closes with credits and we even get a title card, also the film isn't restricted to just one camera but others, such as security cameras or phone cameras. It's more of a point of view film, with the point of view being from various cameras throughout the film. Also, one of the characters in the film practices his tele-knesis on his camera, this means that often the camera will float through the scene, so every moving shot isn't incredibly shaky. Also this allows the camera to move more freely throughout the scene. I personally liked this approach, it was creative and wasn't as limiting as just one hand held camera would have been. I particularly liked the set up of one scene where two of the characters are floating in the air and they are levitating various phones, cameras and even laptops in the air around them, so we get to see the various points of views form the cameras in all of these which creates this beautifully setup scene.

After seeing the trailers, I thought that this film was just going to be a straight comedy. Sure, the trailer had a few bits which alluded to some darker moments but I thought that those would be few in number. But the film itself is actually a pretty dark film. There are some really emotional and even some heartbreaking scenes. Yes the funny moments from the trailers are in the movie and they are genuinely funny and enjoyable but a lot of the scenes (especially ones involving the character Andrew) are tragic and emotional, especially in the films climax.

One of the things I assumed form the trailers was that our three main characters were going to be a bunch of unlikable frat boys that just screw around with their powers. But the characters in the film were likable and they struggled with their powers as they got stronger and stronger. At first they enjoy their powers but as the film goes on, they get stronger and they find it harder and harder to control themselves. I really did like this movie, I'm a big fan of super hero movies and I love the spin that this movie puts on the genre. It was done well and I recently found out that this was the directors (Josh Trank) and writers (Mark Landis) first feature film. I look foreword to what these two can do in the future cos they're off to a great start, Josh Trank is the youngest director to ever have a film go to number one in the U.S and the U.K, he even beat Steven Speilberg and James Cameron.

Wow, that was long post.

So anyways guys have an awesome week

Homework, Chocolate, and Loud Music

So this week has been long. And tedious. And I'm really tired. But I'm eating chocolate and listening to loud music and procrastinating, so this particular moment is pretty good.

I...don't know what to write about. But I have a lot of time at this particular moment so I'm going to think of something...What about...Ooh, I know! Another random book review!

Have any of you ever heard of the series entitled "Animorphs"? They're pretty old, and in terms of literary merit, pretty bad. Last one came out in 2001 I think. I'm not too sure about that. They're okay for a fun read, I guess. Not really much to analyze. I still haven't actually read them all. I read most of them, and in a really weird order, because with this series it doesn't really matter what you do. I think it's a kind of sad series, if you think about it...

And Happy Valentine's Day! Even though it's really just a day that should probably be trademarked by Hallmark and Hershey's!

Kate, I hope you feel better. Around my area, this has been the mildest winter I've seen in my life. I've had one snow day in my life. That was the first snow day my area has had in the past 60 years. I always heard rumours about my new town, barely fifty miles away, getting a snow day for an inch of snow. So I was looking forward to that. Needless to say, we didn't get one, because the snow we did get has all been during the weekends.

Deidra, congrats on getting a signed copy of the Fault in Our Stars.

Oh, no, Campion, that title probably falls to me. By origin, I'm Indian, but whenever someone asks where I come from, my automatic response is Canada. I don't know anything about India.

Adam, your accent point made me think. Apparently I have a really strong Canadian accent, which I did not know. Seems strange, seeing as I have always lived about FIVE MINUTES from the border. I pronounced the letter z as zed, and everyone looked at me strangely.

2/13/2012

Snowdays Are My Favorites

I think our school district was close to calling a snowday today, but we weren't lucky enough.  Now everyone is thinking that Wednesday might be our last chance for a big snowstorm.  This year may be the first in decades to not receive a snowday.

On Sherlock, I have the last episode left to watch. And because people on the internet aren't very good at keeping secrets, I know what happens at the end.  I'm not really upset that I know, I actually think it'll make me anticipate/like the episode more.  I'm going through the same phase I did when I started watching Doctor Who....

Deidra, congrats on getting a signed copy of Tfios.  It's cool (and lucky) that you got the last one!

The point Adam made led me to think about different kind of accents.  I know Canadian and American accents tend to sound the same, but yet different regions tend to have different dialects.  So even though we live nearer each other, we may still have little differences in the way we talk.  ...And I guess that thought interests me.  I've always found the topics of languages fascinating.

Kate
(I may hopefully have time to watch the final episode of Sherlock tonight)

Food, Movies and Accents

So, back at college for another week. I was pretty sick over the weekend but I'm feeling okay now so that's good. Last week was hectic but I got through it anyway. On Sunday, I went out with a friend to a place called Eddie Rockets which as I found out recently is actually Irish. It's this restaurant which is done like a 1960's american diner, anyway the food is amazing if a little expensive, I got a BLT and an Oreo Milkshake, it was awesome. :D
My week was packed with lectures and labs and homework, I got a little bit of free time to go watch a film woth my friends but in general I couldn't do much. Hopefully this week will be a little better though, I have only one lecture on Monday so I can use all that free time to do my homework for the week, also I'm going to see a play on Monday, I'm really excited I haven't seen a play in years.
The film I saw last week was "Captain America", maybe I wasn't really into it but I didn't like it. I think I must have missed something at the end because I was like "THIS MAKES NO SENSE!". Oh, well if anyone else has seen it and listened closely at the end maybe you could explain it to me.
I was reading your posts during the week and all of a sudden I was like "OMG, everyone else has an accent!" I know I'm a little slow, it just didn't realy occur to me that everyone else would have an american, canadian or a new zealander accent. I guess I'm just easily amused. Ireland has a ridiculous number of accents for the size and population of the country. I could easily list off 10 different extremely distinct accents from the country, and considering the population is like 4 million, thats a lot I think. I think I have quite a generic Irish accent, people can never really place me. I grew up in a really posh area for a few years and then moved to a farm in the middle of nowhere when I was four. I think the two accents just sorta cancelled out. :P
Anyway, I think thats all the news in my life, have a good week everyone. :)

My Life Seems to Revolve Around Movies

Oh my gosh, was my week ever boring. Two of my second semester classes don't start until next week so I've had these spares that I have nothing to do in. I can't even work on stuff from my other classes because it's the beginning of the semester and we haven't really had any homework assignments yet, besides a bit of reading.

Hmmm don't really have much to talk about since not much has been happening lately. Oh yeah, I got accepted to Guelph university so that means I got accepted to all three of my choices. Now I'm just going to have to figure out where I actually want to end up going.

I really want to see that Kung Fu Cyborg movie now, just to see how ridiculous it really is. I like watching random super corny looking movies. I tend to lean more towards the horror genre, but this just seems like one I'm going to have to watch. Maybe this weekend if I can find it online.

Any of you guys see the Fright Night remake that came out in August 2011? I just saw it by chance this week and it was pretty good. David Tennant is in it, I didn't even realize it at first. Also the main character is played by Anton Yelchin, the guy who played Chekov in the latest Star Trek movie. And it was nice to see the whole classic vampire thing it had going on, much better than the Twilight vamps in my opinion.

Ciao,
Kayla

Well... I watched a certain film

Recently I've developed a hobby of watching bad movies and making fun of them with my friends. Kung Fu Cyborg is no different. It's bad but not as bad as films like Birdemic or the room, there are two good action scenes that are good enough to make the movie bearable. They were over top, fun and you could tell that 80% of the films budget went into these two scenes. I feel as though they shot these two scenes and then ran out of money sO they shot a bunch of random no sea to fill in the res of the film. The first good scene was a fight between two of the cyborgs, this fight kind of reminded me of anime with how over the top it was. Then the other scene was the two previous cyborgs fighting two more cyborgs who create a giant Kung fu robot thing out of scrap and fight the other two cyborgs.

But these only took up about 20 minutes of the film, the other 80 minutes was taken up with nonsensical stupidity and one particular scene that I will never be able to deal with without years of thearpy. In this one scene, one of the cyborgs pulls a can opener out of a drawer... then he turns his head into a can opener. It was weird but not to bad. But then he pulls out a can of Tuna and then his head turns into that as well. Then... It happened. He looks in a magazine and sees this guys bum... He the. Turns his head into a bum... that awe full image will remain in my mind for as long as a live. Why is there a guy with a bum for a head in a movie called Kung Fu cyborgs? I really don't want to know.

So anyway that was my opinion on Kung Fu Cyborg. And some of you guys were confused as to what a Haka was, it's this kind of war dance that the native people of my country do. It's used as a sort of challenge towards other people or sometimes to just intimidate people. Now it's usually performed at sporting events to challenge the opposing team or at cultural events. There are man different kinds of Haka and my school has its own. To be honest that's the extent of my knowledge on it, I'm pretty much one of the most culturally inept people you are likely to meet

Anyway have an awesome week guys

Short Week is Long

So not a lot going on this week. Second semester has started now, and it is very boring. Chemisty, Literature Studies, Philosophy, and co-op (a workplacement class). Chemistry, like any other science class, is very dull right at the beginning. I want to get into it and blow stuff up (not literally, but I want to experiment and stuff). Literature is on hold for me, as I don't want to do any work and am procrastinating. My philosophy class doesn't start until Monday, and I'm anxious to start it to see what it's all about. And I don't get into an actual workplace for at least another week, and the class itself torture. There are so many students and they are all loud and annoying and I feel like I'm the only sane one.

I hope you are feeling better, Kate. We've also gotten a lot of snow here in the past few weeks, and I think I am getting tired of it all. I want summer, I want out of winter boots and stuffy coats, and I want warmth! My feet seem to be forever frozen. I hope you were able to get Sherlock all loaded to watch it. The second season is brilliant. The last episode, though, was horrific and amazing and heart-wrenching and oh-my-god I want more!

Not a lot to say, so short post this week. I've been staying up really late like, every night, which has been fun but bad because then I am exhausted throughout the day. Hope everyone is doing awesome, have a great weekend, and don't forget to be awesome!

P.S - Oh dear, I almost forgot my best news! I finally got a copy of The Fault in our Stars! AND IT'S SIGNED!  =D   My mom and sister picked it on yesterday in the city, and I didn't think they would have any signed ones there/left, but they did and I got THE LAST ONE!! My excitement was extreme.

Well...

I've been lazy and tired the past few days due to some kind of illness.  Friday night I had gotten light-headed and nauseated.  ...That's not really an excuse for not knowing what to write about, is it?  I'm not sure what caused my feeling sick.  It could have been the extreme change in weather, allergies, or maybe stress.

Speaking of the weather... we finally got snow Saturday.  You know how the Vlogbrothers wouldn't be touring in the Midwest due to the bad weather-ice and snow?  Yeah, well... while the touring was going on, we were having amazing weather.  It was like spring.  A beautiful 55 degrees F and sunny skies with no snow.  But, of course, the day after the tour ends, we get this huge snowstorm that gave us a good 8 inches(at least) of snow.  I thought that was a funny coincidence.

I, too, have also gotten into the tv show Sherlock.  Though it stinks because I can't watch season 2 yet.  It is supposed premier in May here I believe.

That's all I can think to write for now, and I need to go practice for my school's musical.

"I'm not a psychopath, I'm a high-functioning sociopath."

FREEDOM!!!! Lol, only technically for like 3 days for me so it really isn't super fantastic, but I take what I can get. I got like 14 hours of sleep yesterday/last night. I didn't realize exams took so much out of me, but I was super exhausted. I didn't really do much today either. Just lazed around the house and watched some tv shows. I started watching Switched at Birth and Sherlock. Both are pretty good so far (especially Sherlock) so I definitely recommend checking them out.

I got some really good news yesterday though. So about a month or two ago my pokemon silver game stopped being able to save. I figured that was it for the game (which sucked because that was the game I had cuurrently been working on building an all poison type party and it got lost). But then I found out that you can fix it by replacing the battery in it, so that's pretty cool. I just need to buy a replacement and I should be able to fix my game.

Katie, I'm allergic to cat dander which means I'm also allergic to bunnies and horses for some reason. I also get allergic reactions to most caterpillers randomly. I'm pretty sure that's because I really liked caterpillars when I was little and let them crawl on my hands, so yeah. Smart litttle me was smart. Also I'm exactly the same in terms of social life, I don't really do anything outside of school. Mostly because there's not really much to actually do in my town. I'd probably go out more if we had like a bowling ally or a movie theatre or something. And yeah, coffee crisps are just coffee waffer chocolate bars, not really anything super amazing, but I really like them.

Campion, also wondering what a haka is. And that film looks pretty awesome, makes me want to check it out some time.

Deidra, finally I can say screw physics. *floats off the surface of the earth* Haha, I wish. But at least I dont have to worry about that for the rest of the year, just calculus and data management. And yes we need to
watch The Lord of the Rings. We should have started today, but whatever there's still time.

Sleep Zombie

Exams are officially over!! Well, they were over for me on Tuesday, after I wrote the Killer English Exam of Grade 12. Since then I have been extreme relaxing and sleeping and catching up on all of the awesome things that I haven't gotten to do since returning after break. I have slept somewhere around 20 hours since I came home from that exam. That has been nice. I've also read an entire book that has nothing to with English or school or boring stuff like that.

Kayla, you are now allowed to stab physics. (this pertains to a conversation about how much she hated physics). Relax and become sleep zombie and maybe we can get together to watch Lord of the Rings before the new semester so that you can stop pestering me about not having seen it.
Katie, I am thankfully not allergic to animals or anything lifey like that. The only thing I am allergic to is a weird medication thing, so it isn't something that really affects me. Also, don't feel bad about your lack of a social life. I am just like you. Except for Kayla, I really have no one else that I ever hang out with outside of school. And since she lives in the next town, we don't get to hang out much. Which is why the Internet is wonderful!
Adam, I am super jealous of all the awesome things you get to do. I can't wait to be done with high school and out of this town so that I can do something besides sitting in front of my computer, laughing at Tumblr.
Floccinaucinihilipilification. Really Kira. I had to go and search that to see if it was a real word, then do more searching to find what it means and how the heck to pronounce it. (which I still can't do, by the way).
Campion, I don't know how you can stand uniforms. The entire idea of a school uniform annoys me. I mean, they take away so much individuality. Also, they tend to always have skirts and weird girly shirts for girls, both of which I really hate. Though I think I could live with a tie. Also, what is a haka? As for the movie, it looks to be very interesting. Especially since the tag lines are cyborgs can fight, but can they love and hate? and why can't a cyborg question his creator like men question god? You will have to review it and let me know.

Tonight I am going to watch the movie In Time. I wanted to see it the first time I heard about it, but like all movies I forgot about it until I saw the trailer again for the DVD release. It kind of plays into the mortal/immortal thing I've been thinking about lately, so hopefully it will be good for that. Don't forget to be awesome!

P.S - three out of seven left-handers. I like these odds. =P

Kungfu Cyborgs exist...

Well, I just got back to school this week and well... it hasn't been to bad I guess. The first day was alright, only my year group (the seniors) and the first year students attended school on the first day. My school has a uniform and the seniors are required to black shirts as opposed to the gray ones that the other students. And while I will submit that the black shirts do look better, the color black has this horrible habit of attracting heat... especially in the middle of one of the hottest summers we've ever had. Anyway, in my school it's a tradition for the seniors to welcome the new students to our school... by scaring the ever loving crap out of them by performing our school haka. I'll admit that I did get some sort of pleasure out of scaring a bunch of little kids on their of high school.

Also, whilst browsing through the video the other day, I think I may have found a film with the best title ever. I have found a film called "Kungfu Cyborg".

A film called Kungfu Cyborgs actually exists. I rented this movie purely based on it's ridiculous title. With a title like that, it's either going to be the best film I've ever seen or the worst (probably the latter). I plan to save this movie for the weekend and I am (cautiously) looking forward to watching.\

Anyway I hope that you guys have an awesome week
