Summer Blues

Summer just keeps ticking away, and I am getting more and more bored. Seriously, I need something to do, something productive, something that I won't put off for another day. I've been doing that all week. I wanted to do some more painting, but kept telling myself I'd do it the next day. Here we are, Thursday once again, and I haven't started anything.

On the pre-school front, I finally ordered all of my textbooks, and will be picking them up tomorrow. Why are things so expensive? I mean really, something needs to be done about this.

Welcome back Katie! I'm so glad you had fun on your trip and visited so many places. Sorry to hear that the driving was a drag. I usually sleep on trips, so I'm not bothered by siblings or boredom. That or reading.

Adam, what is a J1? As for cities, I haven't really been anywhere in the US, but New York sounds like a lot fun. I've heard Chicago is a decent place as well.

Anyway, that's about all I've got. I just want school to start so that I can have things to do and things to talk about. Don't forget to be awesome!

Rambling

Hey, everyone.

My week has been tiring. I've had a lot of homework, and French has to be the most annoying subject in the world. Whenever I wonder why I take it, though, I remember that I don't have a choice. It's not even the language that I don't like - I actually love the language. I just really hate the class. I don't think there is ever a situation where you need to use all the tenses over the course of three minutes. Except for class.

On a brighter note, I have introduced Canadian food to several American friends. They didn't believe there was a such thing. Then I made them butter tarts and vegetarian tourtiere. For those of you that don't know, tourtiere is a kind of meat pie. Except I replaced the meat with soy. They enjoyed the food, which was good.

Deidra - I love A Very Potter Musical. And the sequel. And I'll probably love A Very Potter Senior Year.

Kayla, I hope you're enjoying university, and I hope your sleeping conditions are more comfortable now.

Katie, your road trip sounded awesome. You went far beyond my breaking point when it comes to heat. Kudos to you.

Adam, I'd say you should visit Boston. It's one of my favourite places in the country. Also, this is a Coffee Crisp.

And this is a bag of ketchup chips.

They both sound really strange, but they're both really good.

Well, enjoy your weeks, everyone.

Know What's Fun? Not Homework

I finally finished reading Huck Finn and they ending annoyed me.  The character of Tom Sawyer was just really unlikable.

I'm amazed Nebraska made the list of your favorite states. There's a reason we're the Nebraska Cornhuskers.  I've never been to the middle or western part of the state and Alliance is about 6 or 7 hours away I think, so I've yet to see Carhenge. And you did go to the Omaha Zoo? You must tell me what you thought of it.

Adam, Kansas City, Missouri has an awesome theme park called Worlds of Fun.  They have themed roller coasters and rides for different countries and cultures.  It's a bit expensive, but worth it.  They also have Oceans of Fun next to it which is a huge water park.

Allergies have been getting bad here.  A few of my friends and I all have runny noses, and I keep wanting to sneeze but can't.

Today was the start of the third week of school but it seems like summer never existed.  It's almost sad how fast everyone fell back into the same routine.

It's getting close to nine o'clock here and I've got to go downstairs and watch the new episode of Grimm.
Have a good week
Kate

8/26/2012

I post here sometimes.

Back to college in two weeks and I cannot wait any longer, I'm really psyched to get back and into the routine. I absolutely loved my first year of college and the long summer has been torture. College is just so much more exciting and interesting. Last Friday morning I had to register for my modules for next year. I'm not that keen on my modules in semester one compared to semester two. I have almost all of my math modules in the first and all my physics in the second.

My friends and I have decided that we want to go on a J1 to America for next summer. Any recommendations for cities to go to? I think my friends are set on going to NewYork.

Katie, your roadtrip sounded pretty cool, I had to use google to find out what 115 fahrenheit is in celsius. It's ridiculously hot, I think my melting point is 32 celsius (89 fahrebheit). Kayla, I hope you're enjoying your first taste of college, I'm sure it'll get awesome once you have a bed. :)

I hate to have to ask but what are coffee crisps and ketchup chips? I've never heard of them before but then again we call things differently over here.

I don't have much else to say, the football season kicked off here recently so my dad and I are pretty psyched. I'm also looking forward to the vlogbrothers 1000th video, I hope they do something big for it.

Anyhow, DFTBA

Oh! Hey!

Let me just start off by saying that I am not a very adventurous person, physically. Mentally I'm in a different dimension. So getting out of little Rhody was huge. I've traveled to New York and other surrounding states in New England and along the Eastern coast, but never really across to California and back into the mid-west. What an experience, I must say. I went to so many places and in, around and across 27 different states in four weeks. I've been to the boarder of Canada and Mexico and I would do it all again. Just not with the same people.

Never road trip with family. I swear avoid it with all your might. I love my sister and brother, but they don't like each other very much, and now it's worse. It's like freaking world war III around them. Before it was okay, they didn't get to each other that much, but no just the slightest hair out of place sends them to the battle field. They annoy the piss out of me. And don't get me started with my dad. Glad my parents are divorced so I get some peace. He's insufferable. All should be back to normal and fizz out in the next year.

Before I left I had the wonderful idea of sending postcards. And now I'm stuck writing forty, fifty cards. I've solved how to send them though. The people I see everyday, I'll just hand them the postcards and say "I missed you!" which is something they should expect from me. But being home is wonderfully glorious, even though I haven't gone outside since returning on Thursday. It's like I got drunk for so long I'm suffering from a giant hangover.

My favorite states had to be Utah, Montana, South Dakota, Arizona, and Nebraska. Utah was overall just a really nice day weather wise, and for me in general. Montana had this tourist trap of a shop. They made internet meme shirts! I almost bought a challenge accepted shirt, but settled for a shirt that says FREE HUGS that I now sport as pajamas. South Dakota was just beautiful, I really loved Mount Rushmore. Arizona is where my physics and chemistry teachers are from, and I loved all the scenery there. Nebraska was awesome. Not only because Kate lives there, but all the CORN! And the state forrest that took five minutes to drive through, the awesome diner in Alliance, my bus driver grew up there, the zoo was spectacular, and...CARHENDGE! Carhendge is like Stonehenge, but with cars. It was beyond awesome, and I left a Nerdfighter note there.

The worst of states you say? Indiana is literally hell on earth. It was around 90 degrees Fahrenheit, which was the hottest state we had visited yet and the mosquitos were on steroids or something. They were the size of dimes or a well-sized buttons, and extremely vicious. Then came Missouri. Really Missouri was awful. We broke down the second time we went through.  Then the 105 degree Fahrenheit weather in Oklahoma. I thought the worst of all was Texas, with it's 110-115 weather, but no. Nevada was 120 degrees Fahrenheit, only seven degrees cooler than freaking DEATH VALLEY. I can still feel my sweat soaked clothes. And even though those were the hottest states we went through, and my experiences were on the boarder of awful, I still have the most resentment for Tennessee. Stuck for four days because when the car was "fixed" in Missouri, it broke down at 10:00 at night on the side of a freeway, and had to get towed to Nashville four hours away in the back of a cramped tow truck with Larry the cable guy as the driver. It was torture because we were so close to North Carolina, where my dad lives, and we had a twelve hour drive to Rhode Island from North Carolina.

Leaving that aside though, it was a good trip. We had two theme songs. The main being Total Eclipse of the Heart because that's all my brother would sing, and Gaston from Beauty and the Beast. Once we hit places like Montana and Tennessee, they literally used antlers in all of their decorating. But enough of that, you guys! I missed you! Campion happy belated birthdays, even though I think it was you who didn't enjoy your birthday. I'm saying it anyway. Deidra and Kayla you're going to University! Kate, Kira you're all in school! Adam I passed a comic shop in Indiana that was called "Comic Books and Things" which just made me laugh. And you liking and getting into comics makes me wish I had stopped there. I missed all of the Olympics, but I heard it was good. I'm not too concerned though.

I have ten days until school starts and six days to finish three books. Two I'm almost done with, but I haven't started the mandatory chemistry text yet. I'm taking the honor course which means I have to read that or I'll be starting the year off on the wrong side of a good teacher. now I'm stressed. And I'm taking Spanish 3 and I suck at learning languages. I have a habit of stressing myself out way too easily. So I'm going to try and finish those two books and start the chemistry one. Until next week.

I can't wait to sleep on a real bed again.

Well, I guess I'm starting to get back into the swing of things a little. My slow and relaxing summer is over, that's for sure. Not that I'm complaining.

Since my last post I packed all my stuff at home. It took two days to go through everything and decide if I wanted to bring it, leave it, give it away, or throw it out. Deidra was a biiiiiiig help, even though I felt bad that the last time I spent with her this summer was doing that. (She swore she didn't mind, but I dunno). I also got my hands on a copy of X-men: First Class finally. And by Wednesday morning I was off to Ottawa. The trip was boring for the most part. There was a bunch of construction on the way there so we probably got delayed like half an hour.

Unfortunately, my bed won't be coming in until tomorrow so I actually ended up sleeping the past two days on a pile of cardboard and some blankets lol. It wasn't very comfortable at all, but I've slept in worse conditions. Tonight I (thankfully) get the air mattress since my parents are now staying at a hotel.

I haven't finished sorting my room out yet but that will get done over the next couple of days. My clothes are all put away at least.

I remember watching Rubber before, I quite enjoyed it actually. I think I just thought the whole thing was so funny and ridiculous because I mean, really, it's about a flipping tire. A tire that can apparently think and has super brain powers.

Kate, I can't think of any ridiculously named cities or towns around where I live really.

Fun fact of the day: Did you guys know that German Chocolate Cake isn't named that because it comes from Germany, it was named that because an American with the last name German made some chocolate thing that was part of the original recipe, so they named the cake after him. I didn't know that until a couple weeks ago.

I'll Be Transferred to PIGFARTS!

I think the only way I would ever be 100% committed to going back to school would be if I were going back to Hogwarts. I mean, how could anyone ever be sad or depressed or dejected about going to a castle in the wilds of Britain to learn magic. I bring this up only because I spent the afternoon watching A Very Potter Musical, and am going to watch A Very Potter Sequel this evening. Actually I am starting it now. It's been forever since I've watched them. In fact, I don't think I ever finished the sequel the first time I watched it.

I spent yesterday in bed because I was feeling sick. I woke up at 6am with an intense feeling that I was going to vomit. Thankfully I didn't, but it left me feeling terrible the entire day. I'm feeling a lot better today though. I don't know what caused it. My mother immediately made the joke that I was already homesick. I didn't find her humour particularly humorous.

Congrats Campion on finishing your exams. It's always a great feeling to be through with them. The trailer for The Amazing Bulk is just terrible and hilarious. I have no idea how you could have possibly watched it all the way through. On the subject of strange movies, have you ever heard of Rubber? I haven't seen it, and I actually thought it was a fake movie the first time I heard about it. But it's real. Made in France, apparently, it's a movie about a tire that has telepathic powers. I don't know, maybe you will like it.

Anyway, I think I am going to spend some time doing art and watching AVPS. Enjoy your weekends!

My Campaign

Well, my exams are over, which is a relief but unfortunately I was so bust with all the work that I had to do that I wasn't able to get as much done of my Pokemon D&D campaign. I have a decent chunk of it done and it should last us for the six hours that we are meeting for but I really hope that it lasts long enough and I'm off to play with my friends first thing tomorrow. So I hope that it goes well. I've learnt that being the game master for a table top is fun but it's a lot of work and really tiring to do. The campaign itself is set in the Kanto region after a massive earthquake hit and destroyed most of it.

I need to get back to writing now and before I go I'm just going to make a movie recommendation. There is a movie called "The Amazing Bulk". You know, I've seen a lot of crappy movies, but this one has to top them all. Yeah, this film beats out such gems as Kung Fu Cyborgs and Mega Shark Vs Giant Octopus. It's something that really cannot be explained. It's just bad, the amount that this film sucks boggles my mind.

Anyway have an awesome week guys

Too Much Energy

It has been a week since school started for me. I had forgotten just how scarily alike one of my friends and I are. It's really unnerving. We respond to people's comments or questions with the same rants sometimes.

I have physics first thing in the morning. My teacher is awesome because his voice doesn't put me to sleep. That's a good thing. French is actually a lot more fun this year than last. This year we actually do things. We don't go at, like, glacial pace. I need to learn things quickly, or else I'll become really bored.

Deidra, I appreciate the thought, but you shouldn't bother sending me Smarties. I live really close to the U.S./Canada border, and I actually spend a lot of time in Canada. I have access to Smarties. Did you know that the U.S. also doesn't sell Mars Bars, Kinder Eggs, Coffee Crisps, or ketchup chips? I find that kind of sad...

I have homework to do, so DFTBA,

I Came So Close To Forgetting To Post Today

On Twitter, Katie mentioned funny town and city names while she was driving not to far from where I live.  Her exact tweet was "There should be a contest for best town names. I nominate Wahoo Nebraska" and it made me laugh. I was wondering if there's any odd town names around the places you all live. Wahoo is the best one here.

Deidra... time goes at a decent speed during the school day, and now that volleyball tryouts are over, it'll be 11 hours or less each day. The only thing I really have a problem with is the lack of time to do things I want to do.  Thing that aren't homework, getting ready for school, eating, and daily hygienic duties.

Campion, it wasn't really the computer that cut me.  Once I nicked one finger with a different finger while typing.  And when I got up from writing the post to get water, not only did I scrape myself against a desk, I got a paper cut from a straw.  Probably the worst one was when I was grabbing some paper, and I got a paper cut under a fingernail.  I swear I'm not usually this clumsy of a person.

I really can't post much else.  It's getting late and I need to get ahead on my Huck Finn reading. I have 40 pages to read by my last class tomorrow, plus about 40 more by the next day.

As always, DFTBA

Only 5ish days until I move!

Basically my week has been, again, very uneventful. Minus yesterday and today.

Yesterday, I kind of passed out for no apparent reason and my parents freaked out and I had to go to the hospital. I was there for around 6 hours getting checked over and getting an IV. They weren't really sure what happened. It might have been dehydration or something, but who knows. I feel fine now though.

Today I went shopping for some clothes and such. I went out for supper with my cousin and her family. It was nice to see them again since we only meet up once or twice a year usually. Except we ended up staying in the restaurant for like almost 4 hours so that was kind of annoying.

Oh I've also been watching some movies this past week. Mostly comedy horrors because that's a pretty entertaining genre of movies to watch. I can't wait for you to finally watch The Avengers Deidra, then I can finally talk to you all about it.

Campion I hope all your projects and exams go well. Study hard! (But don't go overboard)

Mid Year Exams

I'm sorry that I wasn't able to post last week and that I couldn't post this yesterday, it's mid year exams for me this week so I was busy studying last week and my first exam was today, so I was too busy to write a post last night. My posts for the next couple of weeks will be infrequent, as my year is starting to end and I have a lot of massive projects that are due in the coming weeks. I'm sorry but I'm just really busy around this time of year. Also this post is going to be rather short as I need to go back to study.

Deidra, don't worry. We have Smarties here in New Zealand. Also I paint/draw and make films. Kira, I hope school goes well for you. Kate, how exactly did you cut yourself while using your computer? Adam, the comics you got sounded pretty good and they also cost a lot over here as well. They need to be exported from half-way around the world to get here. Kayla, I hope that Uni goes well for you.

So this short post took way longer than I expected. Guess that's what I get for procrastinating.

Anyway have and awesome week guys

Thinking Far Ahead

Did I mention that I am getting kind of tired of summer? Yes I did. Still, let me reiterate: summer is becoming boring. Don't get me wrong, I like being able to stay up late and sleep until noon, but there isn't really anything to do during the day. I have pretty much all of my pre-school stuff done, and yet there are still three week remaining until I actually start.

Things I have done this week include banking. I got a student line of credit, a credit card, and got an online banking account set up. And my student assistance money is all in order (had a mishap yesterday that gave me a heart attack) so I should have no trouble at all with paying for school. Seriously though, it is crazy expensive. Anyway, today I downloaded my printer software to my laptop, and figured out where on campus my classes are in comparison to my dorm. It's actually pretty good, as it's a small campus, except for one class in which I will have to walk across campus twice a week for 5:30pm. It's looks pretty good though.

So I have finally watched all of the Avengers prequels. Thor and Captain America last week, and Iron Man, Iron Man 2, and Hulk this week. Hopefully I can find a reliable place to what Avengers for tonight. I am actually quite excited. My favourite was, surprisingly, Iron Man. I like Tony Stark, probably mostly for his ego. I like that he wasn't all humble about his powers and brilliance. Also, the technology in the movie was kind of cool. I'm a sucker for cool technology in movies.

Kate, I do not understand how you spend that much time in/at school. 9-12 hours, a day. How can you stand that? I mean, since I took a bus in high school and stupid dual-school schedules, I left home at 7:30 and got home at 4:30, which was 9 hours, and it was torture (granted, 1 hour of that was spent on a bus, usually sleeping).

Kira, I cannot play even one musical instrument, so your ability to understand and play, even one, is amazing to me. You don't forget to be awesome. So, keep up with that. It's a cool talent to have.

And the rest of you, don't forget to be awesome. Try not to perish in the prison of school, don't shrivel up in boredom on your vacations, and generally have a good time with whatever you are doing.
-Deidra
P.S- It has come to my attention that they don't have Smarties chocolates in America. I don't know about Ireland or New Zealand, but either way I am making it my mission to rectify that. Therefore you should all e-mail your mailing addresses to me so that you can get a box (and a Christmas card, which will be why and when you are getting free chocolate from me)

Short Post This Week

Hey, everyone, I hope you had a good week. I don't have time to do a long post, or even one of moderate length.

School started today. It was okay, I guess. My chemistry teacher tried to force a bunch of metaphors, then gave up on it.

Deidra, compared with a lot of people I know, my ability to play multiple instruments isn't really very impressive - they play five well. I dabble in one, am trying to learn a second, and am good at one.

I have to be going now - I have a bunch of things to do, and not much time to do them in.

A Sigh of Relief

So I spent nine hours at school today.  The Freshman start at normal time on the first day while everyone else comes an hour an a half later. Tomorrow I'll be at school a bit over twelve hours, but I'm not to worried about that.

In my previous post I mentioned how I have all my hard classes this semester, but from what today was like, it seems like it won't be that bad.  I already have two hours less homework than I did last year.

My first class was Algebra 3. The teacher seems nice and we'll get homework everyday, but I'll be able to finish that in my extra study period. AP Psych is my next class.  I'm a bit worried for it. I know I will have to study, which I'm not used to doing, but I think I'll do better than my AP class last year.  Then I have orchestra followed by my study period.  My last class of the day is American Lit.  The teacher is cool and funny, and even though English is probably my least favorite subject, it'll be alright. Though, my reading of The Hobbit will be put on hold as we have started reading Huckleberry Finn already.
I'm actually excited for the school year.

I missed your birthday, Campion, but I hope you had a great one.

I have to go finish up paperwork from the school now and there's not much I can think to add in this post. Next week I should have more time to write.

Kate

PS: While making this post, I hurt myself about five times by accidentally cutting myself.  I've clearly had a long day.

Another Short Summer Post

I am sooooo tired right now. I woke up this morning at 6 o'clock for absolutely no reason and then (because I'm not really that smart) I decided that it would be best to just stay awake. Then later I had to wash our car. And after that I decided to go on an exploration walk that took up most of my afternoon. So I'm all tuckered out.

I basically only have one week of summer left before I have to go home, pack, move, unpack, go to uni orientations/101 week, and then start school. So I've decided to cram as much stuff into this week as I can to make up for me being so lazy for the rest of summer.

Kira I hope your first week of school goes well. Your school starts really early. This year I'll be taking general science/math courses since it's only my first year of university. Fall semester it's organismal biology, chemistry principles, technical report writing, calculus 1, and physics 1. Winter it'll be cell biology, organic chemistry 1, history and esthetics of cinema, geology: earth systems, and calculus 2.

Anyway I'm probably going to get up early again tomorrow to go yard saling so I'm just going to leave it at that and head to bed.

It's (almost) Avengers Time!

I have to be honest. I am kind of getting tired of summer. There is nothing to do, no one to do it with, and it's getting kind of boring. I just keep doing the same boring things over and over. I have been watching a lot more movies lately. I have watched Thor and Captain America in preparation of The Avengers. I just have the Iron Man movies left, and then I think I will be good to watch it with a better understanding.

Yay Adam! You are finally reading The Fault in Our Stars! It's really good, I loved it. I hope you haven't been able to figure out what happens in the end, at least not too much. It would be terrible if it were spoiled.

Kira, I am jealous at your ability to learn so many instruments. I think it's really cool. I took piano lessons for a year, and never went on after that. I can play a little bit now, but I've mostly forgotten. I will be taking a lot of English classes this coming year, since English is my major. I am also taking an introductory History, Education, Social Work, and Anthropology. I decided to make History my minor. I can't wait for first year to be over so that I can move on from stupid introductory classes and dig deeper into more specifics fields and time periods. I have an interest in mythology.

Happy Belated Birthday, Campion! I hope it was good. I remember last year you said you didn't do much, so I really hope it was exciting this year.

Kayla, you need to stop mentioning packing and leaving for university. I don't get to do that until the beginning of September. My move in date is the week before classes start. I am getting really anxious for it. I just want to pack up my room, and move into the dorm. I don't know why. I guess it's just a more permanent show that I am not going back to high school in the fall.

I hope the first week of August was good to you guys. Don't forget to be awesome!

Procrastination and Tea

Well, it's Tuesday and I have nothing at all to talk about. Seriously, nothing important happened this week. At all.

Deidra, I'm not much of an artsy creative person, but if music counts, I play the flute, the bassoon, and a bit of piano. I write a bit now and then. That sort of thing.

Happy belated birthday, Campion! Inspired by Deida, I shall give you a birthday cupcake.

So...I don't know what to talk about, but wrapping it up here would be truly pathetic, so I'm going to try and find something to talk about.

Next Tuesday, school starts, so my post will probably be about classes. This year, I'm taking English, history, physics, chemistry, math, band, and French. What are you guys taking?

I am really going to miss the days of lazing around and being kind of a couch potato, though I guess I'm probably going to regret not doing as much as I should have. There were a lot of things I wanted to do, but they weren't essential, and when I procrastinate on something that doesn't actually have a due date...Yeah. It doesn't get done.

I want to go practice my flute right now, but my sister is asleep, and her bedroom's right next to mine. If I wake her up, she'll kill me. Best to not practice.

On a completely different note, tea is a wonderful thing. I'm drinking some right now. It's in a pretty mug. There are few things that taste good at all times of the day and year and are good for you. Tea is one of those rare things.

Enjoy your weeks, everyone.

Another Post

Hello. I hope you all had a good week. Mine was pretty good. I saw "The Dark Knight Rises", I really really enjoyed it. I felt it was a very befitting end to the trilogy.

I finished fahrenheit 451, I found the ending a little strange but I enjoyed it still. It was a really interesting book to read, it reminded of 1984 in a lot of ways. I've finally started into reading TFIOS now, I bought it in my local book store. It's brilliant so far but I have a feeling I know how it's going to end. I've started trying to write my own stuff again, just for funs.

I went into the comic book store in Dublin and bought two comics, they're a bit expensive due to postage from the U.S. but I got Avengers vs. X-Men which is absolutely epic. And I got Captain Atom which is okay but it's not really my style.

I'm not sure if I'm still into anything that I was as a child, I think my interests are changing all the time so I never stick on any one thing for too long.

Being a mathsy person, I'm not terribly creative but I do try and write a little music and some short storys. It's not much but it can be relaxing from time to time.

I discover a thing on the internet called 52 projects which has these awesome project ideas. I'm doing one where I write notes to people and leave them in books I like asking them to do the same. I think these random little acts can make someones day because it makes that day different to all the others andputs a smile on someones face.

Anyway, that's me for another week :)

Yay Olympics!

Hey everyone. I've been having a busy week helping out at the day camp everyday and not being able to sleep in. I plan on sleeping as long as possible tomorrow to make up for it.

I have to pack up most of the rest of my stuff for uni sometime this weekend. I won't be going down for a while yet but my parents want it done now I guess. It'll be interesting to see how much I actually have to take (hopefully not super lots).

I've been watching as much of the Olympics as I can. I really don't care much for watching sports except for during the summer and winter Olympics (though I also prefer the winter ones over summer). My favourite events to watch in the summer ones are diving, gymnastics, and some track stuff like high jump usually. But all of it is cool to watch, everyone is just so talented. I'm pretty all over the place in terms of cheering. 100% for Canada if we're involved, but other than that basically it just depends on various random factors and my mood. I'm pretty much guaranteed to have cheered for every country at least once by the end.

Ah Kate The Hobbit is an amazing book, I hope you enjoy reading it. Personally, it was my favourite over the trilogy for The Lord of the Rings. Bilbo was just so entertaining to read about. And I don't know what it was but I just loved the whole dynamics of the story.

I don't really follow any kids series Kira, but I do have some books that I think are from the 9-12 y/o section in the book store and I still enjoy them. I'm usually semi embarrassed about the fact, but whatever I like the stories so who really cares.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAMPION!!!!! Hope you have a fantastic day filming or going to the ball or whatever ends up happening.

Deidra you pretty much know my answer to this already, but I'll say it for everyone else. I love to draw mostly with pencil or pen. Occasionally I'll use other stuff like pastels and whatnot. I don't paint that often, but I'd like to change that. I like water colour, acrylics are so-so and I really want to try out oil paints. I also write, but I rarely finish. Though I enjoy and finish poetry.

An Explosion of British Things

I can't believe it's only August! I mean, I guess most of my super fun vacation stuff happened at the beginning of the summer, and now it just feels like it's dragging on. Honestly, it feels more like it should be the beginning of September already. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm grateful that there is still a month left of relaxation for me. I just kind of want to start school again, jump right into that experience.

Speaking of which, I learned that I can only start moving in to my dorm on September 6th. Which is a lot later than I was thinking. I thought I would be able to move in during the final week of August, and be able to settle in and get to know the place. Apparently not so. And to make matters a little worse, my mum says we can't go up with my stuff until the 8th. This would give me two days to settle in and find classes and whatnot, as everything starts on the 10th for me.

I watched the opening ceremonies for the Olympics online, streamed, which meant no commercials or news cast interruptions. I thought they were brilliant. I am a big fan of the British, and I think they did themselves proud with everything. I am still sad that there wasn't much Doctor Who inclusion, but I guess there is still the closing ceremonies for hope. But come on, a forty foot tall blow-up Voldemort? That will be tough to beat. As for the sports, I find that I watch them a bit more than I used to. I don't find many them to be particularly interesting, but there are a few I like. Diving, swimming, and beach volleyball are among my favourites. I never really watch any track and field sports. Shame I missed archery, that would have been interesting. As for cheering, I like to spread it around. Canada first, and then Great Britain, Ireland, France, New Zealand, Australia, Russia. Although I don't really care who wins in the end.

This past week hasn't been entirely without interesting news. I finally completed all of my driving lessons, and passed both of the tests that needed to be done. I must say, the first one (including the skills and 'habits' learned in the lessons) proved to be more difficult than the second (a mock test for the next class of driving license). I am so thankful those are done with. They were getting to be quite bothersome.

I've thought about doing a foreign exchange as well, Adam. I might do one, also in my third year, though I was thinking of doing mine somewhere in the UK. I will be studying literature, and I think it would be cool to do a focus on Shakespeare in the country it was written in. I've also considered Australia.
Kira, I can't really say that I am keeping up with any series or books meant for younger people. I still buy books from a historical series called Dear Canada, which are fictional diaries depicting historical events in Canada. I haven't read any of them in a long time, but I still feel that I should buy them and keep the collection. Who knows, maybe they will be worth something someday.

Before I go, I have a question for you all. Do any of you do anything artistic? Paint, draw, write, compose, anything along those lines? I've been doing painting for some time now, and have finally finished my first painting I did for myself.
Anyway, enjoy your weekends! Don't forget to be awesome!

Well aren't I silliest person on the face of the planet............

I know that I said that I would give a review of Ace Attorney but........................................ as it turns out the film hasn't even been released on DVD in Japan yet.......... that's pretty silly of me. I really should have checked that before I said that. Huh, well I guess I need something else to talk about.

It's my birthday on Saturday. I'm not really going to do anything for it, I haven't really been excited about my birthday or really celebrated in the last four years or so but this year I'm actually going to do something (well sort of). My friend needs help with a film shoot that's he's doing on my birthday, so I was going to help him with that. Also, at the university that my girlfriend goes to, their having a ball on Saturday and she wanted to go with me. I usually don't like balls (I even skipped my own schools ball) but I guess that I need to get out of my anti-social behavior at some point.

Since the Olympics started recently (and everyone is talking about apparently), well New Zealand hasn't exactly had the best performance in the games over the years. We usually end up with about 8 or 9 medals total and it's evident that we're not used to winning a lot of medals because whenever we win a bronze that's all the news will talk about for several days. At this current point in time we currently have two bronze medals. Yeah, that pretty much tells you everything you need to know. I've never taken much of an interest in the Olympics myself, I just don't really care about sports. The last time that I did care about a sport was the rugby world cup and even then I barley gave a crap about that. I'm just not into sports, I know a lot of people are and I respect that but it's just not for me.

Well, as per usual my decision to write this at 12:30 at night has left me tired and exhausted.

Have an awesome week guys
