The Move (part 1)

Greetings from Ottawa! I got here around 7ish (we left at like 5:30 in the morning) and unloaded the stuff we brought into my apartment. It's the first time I'm seeing my apartment in person so it's pretty cool. My room has a bunch of built in shelving which will be excellent since I will most likely end up with another collection here. I don't have a bed yet though so I'm sleeping with my sister tonight. Hopefully I'll get one tomorrow.

There's a bunch of other stuff I wasn't able to bring down this trip so I'm going to have to get it later this summer when I come to stay for good. I'll only be here for about a week this trip, which means this will be the third Canada Day spent here in our nation's capital. I always like coming here for Canada Day because the celebrations are always way bigger than the ones back in my small town, it's much more fun.

Tomorrow I'm going to be meeting my sister's boyfriend for the first time. I'm actually not very nervous or anything which is kind of surprising, but I know him a little and he seems pretty cool and everything. From what my sister said it seems like he's way more anxious about the whole thing than I am (he's also going to be meeting my parents for the first time, but not until Sunday).

I finished reading Looking for Alaska and I am like 3/4 through Will Grayson, Will Grayson. Both are excellent books. I'm really liking WGWG so far, it's super funny and full of all these ridiculous quotes that make me want to go buy my own copy (I'm currently borrowing Deidra's) and highlight/underline/dogear the whole thing. I am 100% sure Deidra would not appreciate me messing with her copy. What's your guy's opinions on putting marks in books?

Katie, religion has always been somewhat of a grey area for me as well. I go to church every Sunday and I guess technically I could say that I'm christian, but I don't even know what I believe. I'm just like christian by default because of my parents. I actually decided I want to read through the whole bible recently. I'm only in the first book (Genesis) and already there's been a lot of death/murder/incest/lying. I really don't know what to think so far, I guess I'll just keep reading.

Kira, I have to agree with Deidra on this one when I say burning a book (even a really bad one) is a super horrible thing to do. (I know it was your friend that did it, but I would totally wince if I saw someone doing that to a book.) For my art project this year I had to make a journal and I ripped all the pages of a book out so I could use the cover. All the pages stayed together so the book wasn't technically ruined, but I still had a hard time doing it. Felt like I was doing some really despicable act or something.

Too Tired To Party

I was all set to write a nice, lengthy post this afternoon. I figured I'd get it done early so I wouldn't forget or be rushed about it in the evening. But then I turned on Supernatural, started a painting, and here we are. I'm super exhausted because I was up late last night and up early this morning, and I think I may have been getting a bit too much sun lately.

Anyway, was up late last night because Kayla slept over. Our final sleepover as high school students. We made chocolate chip cookies, ate lots of chocolate, watched Project X (insane movie), and then went out into my backyard to set off sparklers and play with glow sticks. It was extremely fun.

I was early this morning because I had to go in to write my final exam at 9 o'clock. It is the ILC one that I have been waiting ages for and complaining endlessly about. That was really easy, an hour and a half and about 6 or 7 pages of writing. Although, I wrote what is probably my best test/exam essay ever.

Katie, I am so jealous that you get to go to comic-con. Not really an area of expertise of mine, but the event sounds really fun. Hopefully you dress up, cause that would be cool. Take awesome nerdy pictures for us!
Congrats on your driving test, Kate. I have another lesson tomorrow that I am just dreading. I hate driving, it is way more responsibility than I ever want to have, but of course my parents don't care. And I guess it will be useful in the future when I have to be an adult or something.
Kira, the only thing I can say to you is NEVER EVER BURN BOOKS. I don't care how annoying they are, or how messed up studying them has made you. That is like, sacrilegious.

I am extremely tired, so going to leave it here. I have to get up super early again tomorrow to go into the city to take my lesson. Then I get two days of relaxation and then we drive down to Niagara so I can meet Hunter. I am so so excited. Anywho, happy 1 year of awesome. It's been super sweet blogging with you guys, and here's to another year!

Lighters At Five AM

Hi, guys. I don't have too much time today, so I'll see what I can do with this post.

Today, I received a very interesting phone call from a friend. She goes to a different school and we don't get to see each other often. The first thing she said to me? "Okay, girl, meet me at my house with a lighter."

I had to try really hard to find a non-terrifying reason as to why she wanted to meet at five in the morning with a lighter. Apparently, she had just taken her English exam and wanted to burn her copy of War and Peace. While I agree that it's a tedious read, it seemed a bit excessive to burn it...but hey, each to her own, right?

A few friends and I had a Harry Potter movie marathon. That was fun. I fell asleep and missed the death of Dobby, whose death I was more upset over than Dumbledore's. C'est la vie, I guess.

This post is very rambling. I am very distracted. I have to go finish packing so I can leave tomorrow. I'll take pictures for you guys!

My Week

These past seven days have been full of things.  Last Wednesday I went to see Madagascar 3 with a friend.  I thought it wouldn't be very good, but, boy, was I wrong.  I was extremely happy with the ending and a few scene were just extremely cool with the music and the animation, and *sighs* I just left that theatre really happy and the ending was just perfect.  Or at least I thought so.
On Friday another friend of mine wanted to go see Brave with me.  She had apparently been looking forward too it for a year.  I wasn't expecting much from the movie and it's commercials and previews never caught my interest, but the movie did end up being really good, though I did predict one of the main twists before it happened.  I also didn't cry at the end because it's a Disney movie, it had to have a happy ending... I do recommend you see it.  The animation was amazing.  Though I saw more naked butts in that movie than I see on Tumblr.
Sunday was my driving test which I am please to say I passed!!!
And today I went swimming, and it's easy to see the spots that didn't get enough sunscreen. Sun burns... they are annoying.

Kira, thanks for sharing the video with me.  It was brilliant.

Kayla, congrats on your test scores.

To answer the question you asked last week, Campion, the only kind-of-rumors that our school has... well, it's more of a prank.  At the beginning of each year, the upperclassmen tell the new freshmen that there is a swimming pool on the third floor.  Our school has no third floor.  Also, I agree with Deidra, no one should EVER feel bad for liking Pokemon.  A few years ago I had wished that they would make an MMORPG Pokemon game.  Like World of Warcraft graphics and world mixed with the story of the handheld Pokemon games. I still wish they would make that a thing because it would be Awesome.

My favorite animated movie is probably Finding Nemo, Deidra, and I don't really have any animated movies I'm looking forward too right now because I just saw Brave and Madagascar 3 this past week (both were really great!).

Katie, at first I, like you, thought I liked the idea of albums.  It was the first thing that came to my mind before I read your thoughts.  But then I gave more thought to it.  Albums tend to come with anywhere from 8-15ish songs.  There's a huge probability that I will never give some of those songs a chance and will never like all the songs on the album.  When a musician puts music out single by single, I feel as if I get more time to accept and eventually love the song, but it still seems like you get less music with singles.   Personally, I prefer EP's to albums and singles.  There are just enough songs on them to keep me interested until the next EP... usually.  I hope this explanation sounded halfway intelligent.

My week was good and I hope yours was too.

Struggling

I have prepared myself this time. I took a nap already, and am currently eating something that shouldn't be food. Defiantly not from nature. Summer is here and I have done absolutely none of the summer reading. My final grades haven't been mailed yet, so I'm waiting on them to start the reading. I'm planning on taking honors chemistry next school year, and I believe that there is a reading to correspond. Not looking forward enough to that. Overall I've had a really relaxing week, minus the one encounter that's turned my stomach inside and out.

Right, now it's 11:07. Where does the time go? Anywho, thanks for the thoughts on the album, I really enjoyed reading what you guys think! Also Regina Spektor is only one of the best humans ever. I also feel somewhat obligated to watch Supernatural. I'll get around to it, eventually. Pokemon. One of the many shows of my childhood and probably one of the only video games I tolerate. Not to say I don't enjoy them, I'm just not a huge gamer. Except for The Binding of Isaac. I don't know if you guys saw frezned's video, but I got the game and wow I love it. The only game besides Pokemon that I play. Even that's a bit of a lie, I guess if you count the occasional dabbling of Kingdom Hearts or Sonic.  Kira when I saw wallflowers flowers in the titles I thought you meant The Wallflowers which is a band and I had a bit of a nerd out. I'll be sure to put the book on my expanding book list.

That encounter I mentioned and feel the need to discuss was my old youth group instructor from when I was ages 5-11 (or 12). He was this really nice guy and has a kid my age. It wouldn't be so uncomfortable I guess if I had gone to church for the past two years. Religion is a tough, gray area, and apparently "very hard for a girl of my age in these times." I got an invitation to go back in the morning, and I don't know what to say. The advisor has been living in Germany for the last two years I've missed church. And how can you turn down the nicest human being I've ever met? I don't want my religion to define my beliefs, because they don't correspond at all. Eh, my troubles are annoying. Hopefully all goes well.

OH AND I HAVE HUGE NEWS! All though I haven't purchased the tickets yet, there is apparently a Rhode Island Comic Con! Hopefully I'll be attending. You can check out the guest list they've compiled so far, here. I'm so jazzed! They're hopefully announcing another guest soon, I can't wait to find out who!

And now having read that: http://geothebio.tumblr.com/post/25656336980/fagmander-nintendoggystyle-is-there-holy I find sitting in church will be a giggle fest. I'm so going to hell.

Here's hoping I didn't push buttons by discussing my religion problems! Dftba.

The Dots, Oh God They're Everywhere

Ah, man I am so worn out right now. Exam time is always so exhausting. On the bright side I only have one more to do on Monday and I'm done with high school for reals. And I already know I got an 88 in Calculus, which is nice. Not sure what I got for Chemistry, but I'm not too worried. I went in with like a 96 or something. Now I just have to deal with Data management which isn't usually all that hard.

I didn't have an exam today so technically I could have stayed home, except I couldn't because today was the due date for my Art ISU and I had to rush to finish everything up. I stupidly decided to do pointillism for my final project and honestly if I never see another polka dot in my life I would be fine with that. It was ridiculous to paint all those dots, but whatever I got it done.

My dad's retirement party was yesterday. I was originally planning on going, but it was mostly a bunch of older teachers and people that I didn't know there so my dad said I could stay home. He seemed like he had some fun there with my mom though, remembering the good old days and whatnot. My dad has been teaching for some 30 years though, that's pretty insane. I'm glad he's retiring though, teaching can get really stressful sometimes.

Katie, I tend to get a lot of random songs on my iTunes. Like, I'll just buy one from an artist and nothing else ever again because I only like that one song by them and not their other music. That being said, once I find a musician or band I really really like I'll buy whole albums from them to listen to. Some examples being Green Day, White Lies, and Regina Spektor (been a bit obsessed with her recently, you should check her out). I like albums and don't think they're dead. Musicians can tell whole stories with albums when single songs can only give you a glimpse.

Kira, I'm going to be traveling a bunch between home and Ottawa this summer as I move down there to get settled in. Other than that I don't really have any official plans, but there's a ton of stuff I want to do like catch up on reading, watch more Supernatural and Merlin, maybe learn the basics of another language, etc. I should really make a list so that I don't forget anything. Hope you have fun in Venice and Rome! Take lots of pictures!

Campion, I really like Pokemon too, although to be honest I'm more of a casual fan. I played yellow and silver a lot when I was a kid, but I never bothered getting any of the other games until Soul Silver and Black came out so I don't really know any Gen 3 or 4 Pokemon. And I haven't really kept up with the TV show or movies at all. But that game that you're working on seems like it would be really fun!

Deidra, let me just say this. DEAN HAS FEELINGS TOO!!11!!!1 He's not just macho tough guy, just look at that brotherly love, and when he beats himself up about their dad, etc, etc. *sobs and runs away* lol, but hey I don't mind you liking Sam, just means more Dean for me. (And no, sorry to inform you, but Dean is cuter.)

Stressful Times

It's that time of year again: exams. The only consolation is that these are my last highschool exams ever! And then, you know, I'll have university exams, but I am riding this happy ship until it hits the ground! I wrote my chemistry one today, and it was kind of bad. Like, I left first out of everyone, I was barely in the examination room for two hours. I don't have a good feeling about it, but thankfully my entrance marks are good enough that I will pass regardless.

I write my philosophy exam tomorrow, which is going to suck. It was an online type course, so all the studying is done by reading the content pages online. On the bright side, it's like 60% multiple choice. Other than that, I have my literature exam to do Monday (hopefully) and then I WILL BE FREE!

No more talk of exams now. I think my favourite animated movie is a tie between Monster's Inc., Finding Nemo, and Wall-E. I love Pixar. And I am most excited for Brave, it looks so amazing. Also, there is apparently a prequel to Monster's Inc. so I am super excited for that.

Sam is way better than Dean. Just saying. Sorry Kayla. Dean is too macho, tough-guy, hard-up for me. Also too much of a player. I prefer Sam. He's quiet, seems to think, and has a soft spot for every body. I kind of like that. Also, he's way cuter. *smile*

Thank you for sharing that video, Katie. I laughed a whole bunch. Also, it had some great advice. I wish we had a piñata at our graduation. You are so lucky that you get to see a real live performance of a Shakespeare play. I love Shakespeare, I would love to see one of his plays like that. As for the album, I wholeheartedly believe in them. I think that they are a good way to showcase hard work and dedication. I mean, anyone can write and produce a song, but it takes a lot to make an entire album. I also agree with the others, releasing singles is just trying to make them popular. I really don't like that Alex has decided to do that. Especially since he talks about trying to stray away from the mainstream music industry so much. It kind of defeats the purpose of all his talk.

Kira, I love that book! I read it a year or two ago. I agree, the characters weren't really relate-able, but I think that pushes the point of the book. Being a wallflower means you are on the outside of everything, misunderstood and alone. By writing characters that can't be related to, you show that everyone is different and that people can and are misunderstood. I don't know, that's my take on it anyway. Also, I can't wait for the movie to come out, it looks like it's going to be really really good. As for summer plans, I am taking a trip down to Niagara Falls at the beginning of July to meet my Nerdfighterlike boyfriend and his parents (don't worry, my parents are coming along too). Then I have to come back home, finish my driving lessons, and prepare for the wonderful world of university. *non-excited woo*

Campion, never feel bad about liking Pokemon. Never. Ever. Ever. I have been a Pokemon freak since I was a little kid. I am mostly into the first two to three generations, as I stopped watching the shows and movies after a while, and I don't have many of the games. However, about a year ago I went back and replayed through the Yellow version. I completed the Pokedex for the first time ever. It was pretty fun. This game also sounds interesting. I've never played D&D, but a Pokemon version sounds like something I'd be interested in learning more about.

Okay, I really have to go and study now. Not that I really want to, but I have to. I hope you all have good weekends. Don't forget to be awesome!
-Deidra

Pokemon is awesome

I'm just gonna go ahead and say it, I love Pokemon. It is one of my all time favourite T.V show and Video game. Ever since I was little I have been a die hard fan and play a game from every generation, hell I own nearly every game, I've seen all but four of the movies (trust me when the holidays roll around I'm watching them) and have completed the video games several times over. I'm am pretty much a hardcore Pokemon fan and will love the series until the day I die (or if they make a crappy film adaptation with Uwe Bowl directing............... isn't tat a complete nightmare). I have been with the series since Day one and love it to bits. A lot of my friends also love Pokemon almost as much as I do, in fact we have gotten a little group together to play a Pokemon table top RPG (it's like dungeons and dragonds but with Pokemon). The game itself looks pretty awesome and we are currently trying to set everything up, like creating characters, creating the world we will be playing in and writing the stories that we will be playing through. I guess the reason that we wanted to play this game so much is because the Pokemon games are awesome but limited because of their plots and while you can battle with your friends you can't go on an adventure with them, like you can on the show and I guess being able to write your stories that you can play through is also pretty awesome. Games like this require a lot of time and effort, due to the amount of work needed to set it up and play, so I realise that it is quite lame to put so much effort into playing a game which is like Dungeons and Dragons.... only with Pokemon (which makes it even lamer) but it should be a lot of fun so it doesn't bother me that much.

I think that my favourite animated movie would be (not a Pokemon movie surprisingly) Trigun: Badlands Rumble (anime counts right?). It's a difficult movie to explain unless you've seen it but it is a fantastic film and really funny and it features my favourite voice actor, Jonny Young Bosch (who was previously a Power Ranger, go figure). I just really like that movie. But if it was an American animated movie, then it would Kung Fu Panda hands down, I love that movie.

Also my filming went well, none of us got ourselves injured down there and we weren't killed by any gas leaks, so that's always a plus and none of the ancient dust down there hasn't given us any deadly diseases!! (yet). But my friends told me that after I had left (cos the bit I was needed for was finished), they went under another classroom and when they got down there they felt woozy and tired, they were really out of it. It turns out that there was a gas leak under that class, I'm glad that they managed to get out because they were about to take a nap before one of them wanted to go and get some fresh air.

Well I have a big assignment due tomorrow, so I need to finish this up

Anyway have an awesome week guys
DFTBA

P.S- Kyla, I know why you watched Mega Shark VS Giant Octopus, it's the same reason I watched it and the same reason that I saw Kung Fu Cyborgs, that ridiculous title is just to stupid to pass up, you just have to see how bad the movie is, that's how they sell them, By using stupid titles.

Strained Backs and Wallflowers

Hi, everyone. I am writing this post from a very uncomfortable position - flat on my back, my laptop held with one arm, and my other hand being used to type. I strained my back moving boxes of textbooks in class, so I'd like to lie down for a bit. On  the bright side, today was my last day of school so I'm out until August.

In a week's time, I will be going to Italy to spend a week in Rome and Venice. I'm super excited for that. Anyone have any plans for their break?

Campion! You're back! Good to hear from you. When it comes to rumours about my school...My school is relatively new, so we don't really have any building rumours. We have a lot of rumours about our teachers, though...

My favourite animated movie is Lion King. I really haven't seen many, though, so there isn't much to compare it to in my frame of reference.

Katie, I really like albums. I much prefer them to single songs, because people only buy albums if either all the songs or good, or they like the band. An album, as a whole, is a work of art. Single songs...just whatever is catchy, I guess.

I haven't done a random book review in a while, so I'm going to turn my head to my bookshelf and write about the first book that I see. The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Okay.

I thought it was very well written. The characters and the language were vivid. I didn't find the characters especially relatable, though, which was slightly disappointing. Also, I thought that the messages in the book were pushed at the reader a little too hard. I would have preferred it to be a bit more subtle.

Have a good week, guys, and don't forget to be awesome.

Responses

Hi guys, sorry I missed last weeks post. I do that sometimes. :)

I guess since I'm studying Theoretical Physics in college I should probably have a pretty strong view on the whole Hawking-Einstein debate. To me personally Einstein will always be the greatest physicist of all time. They both made huge impacts on the world of physics, which is obvious enough otherwise there wouldn't be an argument. Hawking published pioneering papers on Black Holes but he is given extra credit I think because of the fact he works with his illness. But, a young German man working in a patent office in 1905 published in the space of 5 months, four of the most revolutionary papers in the history of physics. To me, Einstein has to win. John Lennon would have been forever remembered for his work with the Beatles but then he added a huge solo career on top, for me that's a bit like Einstein, those four papers would have been enough to be the greatest ever but then he went a published over 300 more scientific papers on top of that.

My school was a boarding school in the middle of nowhere so it had loads of old rumours, mostly ghost stories, but there was one about a secret passageway that went underneath the lake and came out the far side. Probably completely false but when we were 12 my friends and I loved to chat about it.

My favourite animated movie is a close call between Wall-E and the  Lion King. And I don't know much about upcoming animated films.

To be honest, I don't think the album is dead, I really hope not anyway. I think the idea of singles will only ever appeal to pop culture which is usually just interested in the most generic catchy song as opposed to most other genres which are focused on the whole album as a work of art. One of my all time favourite albums even though I'm not into rap is "A grand don't come for free" the songs are good but put together they are far more than the sum of their parts. The whole album is a story and it works beautifully.

Anyway, theres not much new in my life. Summer is boring.
DFTBA
Adam

I started, fell asleep, and here we are.

Welcome to not Saturday. Sorry yet again for my absence, but it was the end of finals last week and I was in pain and....ramble-y stuff. I do not wish to talk about finals week or rather the grades of my finals which I receive on Monday. I failed at least two. However finals don't count against us, but teachers tend to work differently. The look of disappointment from my Spanish teacher might just kill me.

This week was almost like a free one, but not. Remember all that Newport Mansion Intensive stuff I mentioned a while back? Well that happened again with new topics about to choose from, I went with Shakespeare. We did a series of scenes from various plays including Macbeth. I mention Macbeth in particular for two reasons. One, I was the second witch, and two, actors. On Monday they had local actors who preform Shakespeare every summer come and do a few scenes for us and they did Macbeth, which is the play this summer that I might be going to possibly attend. The guy who played Macbeth was really great, and we were informed later that that was his audition. I think he got the part.

Happy graduation Deidra and Kayla! Sorry to hear that it was uncomfortable. It's kinda funny because Simon tweeted this video:
That might have jazzed it up a bit. Uh anyway...

Words.................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................I'm lost for words. I'm trying to come up with a sufficient argument for Hawking vs Einstein, so of course I went to wikipedia first. And Saw this (on Hawking):

That's not my point I just thought it was funny. Nothing to do with the argument I'm still trying to find. Thinking about it. Okay so trying to find out who is better than who is a bit difficult. We can say that The Beatles are better than One Direction, sure. But that's a band, a group of people who work together to create something. That doesn't work out with individual people though. If I were to choose which one of my IRL friends I liked more as person I would end up fighting them and myself and probably combust. This probably isn't the answer you were looking for Kate, but comparing two human beings isn't possible. Or at least, easy. However if you were to compare the work of said people it would be different. Unless you're like me. I still see that as a disadvantage or unfair to the two different people.  "Who accomplished more?" isn't really a valid question. People as humans, work at different paces or levels if you will. So to compare the level of thinking between two people is hard. I think in order to do such a thing you would need to understand the thought process of the people posed and then, from a critical point of view, decide what accomplishments meant (mean) more. And putting value to something is even more difficult. I mean sure we doing all the time, but with objects, not people. Then again I guess you could say I value John Green more than Maureen Johnson, but I don't really know them. And their accomplishments vary. Therefore I am unable to decided critically, or at all who accomplished more based on value. And then the fact that science is involved, and that I barely kind of passed physics throws me off completely. But if we discard the science from this problem I can work with it easier. I'm sure that you all are familiar with John Locke and his "Tabula Rasa" theory. Which brings science back. Right. Well if, and most likely we are, formed from what we experience than no two people can really experience one thing the same way. Just like how colors, like red, are seen in slightly different shades to everyone. I think what I'm trying to say is that I am not qualified to answer such a question or resolve such an argument, Kate.

I don't know if you guys read the second Forbes article about Alex Day, but I found it to be...weird. Particularly this paragraph
“'Albums are dead as far as I can tell,' says Day. 'I don’t mean physical formats are dead, but the concept of an album seems redundant when you can cherry-pick any individual track you like on iTunesanyway. Putting out singles means each song has its own artwork and its own video; it gets its time to shine; it makes me work harder to make sure the songs are good enough to withstand that light; and it’s more interesting for my audience, who are getting new songs from me every few months at the moment instead of once every year or two.'”
What is your views on the album? Personally I like the idea of an album, and everything that comes with it. I can understand the quickness of just releasing a song, but... then it's just a song. Something that by itself did well, or didn't. But an album that does well is a bunch of songs that a person would purchase because they liked all of the songs. No longer just a song, but a compilation of work that has done well. Thoughts?

I've never participated in paintball, but my brother has. I don't think it would be something I would try. My favorite animated film is... not counting Disney.... My Neighbor Totoro or How To TrainYour Dragon and one I would like to see is Brave. Because I started all this yesterday, fell asleep, I think this is all I want to say. DFTBA.

I don't care what anyone says, Dean is my new baby.

Almost forgot to post today even though I had the whole day off school. Or maybe that's the reason why... either way, my week has been so-so. Exams are coming up soon and I have two ISUs due as well. to top it all off I have been sick the last couple of days. But I think I'm over it now. I feel a lot better.

I enjoyed my day off today and my half day yesterday. I watched a bunch of movies, read some manga, suntanned a bit and even baked some cookies. Mostly I just slept lots to try and recover though.

Kate, comparing Hawking and Einstein is really hard. I'm not really sure who would be the better scientist, but I think I like Einstein better just because of reasons.

Kira, I've never actually played paintball before. It seems fun, but also something that I would be really bad at. I hope to try it at some time though.

Glad to hear from you again Campion. Good luck with your filming, I hope it goes well. I don't think our school has any rumours about it at all, it's pretty boring really. Sadly, I did not follow the advice you gave us a while ago and I watched Mega Shark Vs Giant Octopus. You were right it was terrible. But I had to watch it, just to see for myself.

Deidra, the animated movie I'm most looking forward to is probably Brave, it seems like it'll be a really good one. As for my favourite animated movie god that's a hard question, I like so many... well I do like Fantastic Mr Fox (stop motion animation) but I also like Howl's Moving Castle. Or WALL-E. Or Nightmare Before Christmas. Or a million others.

Oh yeah, I started watching Supernatural. I'm only on season two so far, about half way through. I used to watch episodes sporadically on TV so I kind of know some things that will happen, but I'm finally going to watch everything now. Sam used to be my favourite character, but now I'm leaning way more towards Dean.

I'm kind of randomly in the mood to write a letter to someone, but I wouldn't know who I should write to or even what I would write about really. I just feel like I haven't written a letter to anyone in a really really long time.

I Have Strange Feels for my Internet Friends

This is more than likely going to be a short post (or at least shorter than my usual super long posts). It feels like a Friday, since we don't have school tomorrow, and today was a really relaxing day. So yeah, my mind is set to Friday mode in which I don't do anything.

My graduation was last Friday. It was okay. Not really that exciting. Like Kayla said, very hot in the gowns. It was also long, or at least it felt long. And the worst part is that we still have school after the ceremony. Like, we have a week and a half, plus time for exams. It's not the greatest system.

So yeah, exams start next week. I've got three to write this semester. Three exams and I am done with high school. I seriously can not wait. I just want to write them now and get it all over with. There is no way I can fail, so I'm feeling pretty relaxed about them. Bring it on.

I have no opinion on the Einstein/Hawking debate. Really, I don't know that much about either of them. I don't think you can even properly debate the issue. I mean, Einstein worked the past, with much less technical equipment and knowledge than Hawking has. Give Einstein the tools that Hawking has, and I'm sure he would outshine.

Welcome back, Campion. I've sure missed you. Glad you got to post this week. To be honest, whenever someone misses a post, I get this weird anxiety that something bad has happened to them, and we won't ever  know. I'm strange, just ignore me. As for rumours about my school, I don't believe we have any. At least, nothing cool like that. Our's is about 75 years old, and it's severely breaking down. Despite the renovations that were done in the last year, it's still really terrible. We get cold air blowing in the winter, and the heaters run off and on during the spring/summer. I'm just glad I don't ever have to go back.

And that's about it. My brain is just shutting down. I want to curl up in bed and maybe watch some Supernatural (if my computer will let me). Have a good weekend, and don't forget to be awesome!
-Deidra
P.S- I feel like I should ask a question, since I didn't have anything interesting to write about. So, what is your favourite animated movie, and what animated movie are you most looking forward to?

My Internet is back up.............. for now at least

I'm sorry that I haven't posted anything for the past couple of weeks, my internet was cut off (I really don't know why) and it just happened to come at a time when stuff actually did happen during my week, go figure. Anyway, me and a few of my friends are going to be shooting a film that we have been working on and the location that we are filming in is this space that we found under our schools stage. There's a surprisingly large amount of room under there, more than enough of space for seven people to move around freely. At our school, rumours have been floating around for years about hidden underground tunnels and an old military bunker from world war two hidden somewhere, after finding the space under the stage me and my friends were excited about finding these and we went looking for them. We found the tunnels..... which just turned out to be a bunch of crawl spaces under the class rooms for maintenance workers and none of them were connected. We were a bit disappointed but we did eventually find the bunker....... which just turned out to be the space under the stage, which is cool but not as cool as a hidden military bunker. So the reality of the rumours didn't turn out as cool as we'd hoped but I was wondering, did your schools ever have any rumours like that?

Deidra and Kayla, glad that you guys went to your schools prom and that you guys enjoyed yourselves. My schools prom (we call them balls here) is on Saturday and I'm not going. It's really not the kind of thing that I enjoy doing and my family can't really afford it anyway. Also congrats on graduating. Adam, glad that your exams went so well. Hope that your drivers ed goes well for you Kate, I'm honestly too lazy to get my license. Katie, who's the best out of Steven Hawking and Albert Einstein? Well I really wouldn't know much about either of their work so someone uneducated like myself would have to say....... Steven Hawking, mostly because he made a cameo on Star Trek once. And Kira............. yes, paintball is one of greatest things known to man.

Well, I'm sorry that I missed my posts for the last couple of weeks and I'll just to try to keep up more.

Anyway have an awesome week guys

Repeated Head Banging

Okay, I am exceedingly tired. I've had quite a busy week, what with studying for finals, agreeing to host a French tutoring thing, and preparing for my friend's birthday. BUT I am going to not talk about any of that stuff that you don't want to hear about and find something that you might care about. Er.

Paintball. Paintball is one of the greatest games known to humankind. The other day, my friends and I decided that we would waste a huge amount of time and go to play paintball. I was killed, but it was the most fun I've had in a really long time. Not to mention I got a lot of help in math from one of my friends who is infinitely smarter than I am.

I am currently sitting at my computer, typing with one hand and drinking coffee with the other. I'm making a great deal many more typos than usual, but I have work!

Kate, I think that one video fits in very well with this topic - the Einstein vs Hawking rap battle. The one that I'm too lazy to insert a link to. An idiotic video with just about no relation to the actual topic, but entertaining nonetheless. I think Hawking has built on a lot of what Einstein has done, but Einstein laid the groundwork for him to do so. I don't think it's quite possible to judge which is the "better" scientist.

Kayla, Deidra, congratulations on graduating, glad you enjoyed prom.

Have awesome weeks,
-Kira

Operation Productivity Is A Go

First off, nice job on graduating Deidra and Kayla.  I'm sure the last days will either be painfully slow for you, or surprisingly fast. (Most of the time it's painfully slow for me).  Red Velvet cake is amazing.  For awhile an ice cream brand here had sold red velvet cake as a limited time flavor and that was delicious as well.

I'm getting the hang of driving.  Whenever I have to drive, at first I'm always nervous, but it's easy to get used to it and you relax, and yeah... I just hope I pass the test the first time.

A friend on Facebook and I have been having a debate of who was the better scientist: Einstein or Hawking.  It  started out as a joke, and it still is just with a bit more seriousness added to it.  I thought I'd like to hear your guy's thoughts about it?

For productivity's sake, I found this google chrome app "stayfocusd."  I set the app so that it would block all websites starting at 3pm each weekday for an hour.  Today was the first day of this little experiment and it worked pretty well.  The whole hour I brainstormed and worked on this writing project I'm doing.  Downloading StayFocusd was probably the best decision I've made all summer.

Semi-Officially Done High School

So my graduation was today. (A lot of things seem to happen on Fridays for me don't they?) It was pretty exciting I guess. I got a couple awards and I didn't trip so that's good. Most of all though my graduation was just really hot and uncomfortable. The grad gowns were so suffocating I felt like I was being roasted. The only thing that made them okay is the fact that they looked like wizard robes. The grad caps were not bad except for the fact that, if you didn't already know, I have really thick curly hair so it trapped all the heat in my head. It honestly felt like I was wearing a winter hat.

My sister made me a red velvet cake though so that was awesome. Red velvet is my favourite kind of cake. I also got a couple gifts from my parents, and my grandparents too even though they couldn't come to my grad. Like Deidra said, grad hasn't really sunk in yet really because I still have a bunch of stuff left to do at school.

Katie good luck on finals! Adam I'm glad your exams went well. Kate I do that all the time, I always feel like just lazing around and wasting time when I have stuff to do. Also good luck with Drivers Ed. Deidra wow it totally doesn't feel like it's almost been a year. I honestly have really bad memory and thought that we had started in like August or something.

PS - I can't upload a picture because my internet is being mean, but that's okay because I looked kind of dorky in the grad cap anyway.

In Which I am Out of Character

So like Kayla said, our prom was last Friday. All in all, it was a not bad experience. I wore a dress, and I admit I looked pretty damn good. It was uncomfortable though. Also, I danced, which shocked me a lot, considering I do not dance. What made it really awesome was that my boyfriend made scheming arrangements with my sister and mom, and he got me a corsage. It was really cute, and really surprising. Anywho, here is a picture of me:

Our graduation is tomorrow, and I am not really all that excited for it. I mean, sure, we are graduating, but after we still have a weeks worth of school and exams to write. I just want it all to be over now. Speaking of things being over, I have completed the required hours for my co-op placement, which means that I can stop going any time I want. I think I am going to go next week for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. I think I am going to find it difficult to leave those students.

So it's almost been a year that we have all been merrily blogging together. According to our archives, Kate wrote our first post on June 27. It really makes you think. It doesn't feel like it's been that long.

But I have a lot of work that I really need to get done, so I'm going to cut this post short. As usual, I hope you all have amazingtastic weekends, and don't forget to be awesome!

InARushSoI'mGoingToWriteThisTitleLikeThis

Sorry I missed my last post, I was otherwise preoccupied. This is going to be really fast because I have to go in about five minutes.

Bland week with a lot of finals prep, so moving on to important matters, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY, KAYLA! Glad it was awesome.

If I were to live anywhere else in the world...I don't know. I'm sorry, but not the U.S. Just...no. I love Canada, but I don't know exactly where in it I'd like to live. I really love France, so that's what I would have to say.

Awesome Tardis mug, Katie. Tea and Doctor Who? Awesomeness.

I really have to go, so see you, have good weeks, be awesome.

And She's Home

I get bored so easily, which is ridiculous. I have tons of things I could be doing.  I have portraits I still have to work on, I could be writing, reading, working on my scrapbook, or playing any of my instruments. Gaming consoles are set up and waiting to be play and there's also the internet.  I have absolutely no reason to be bored, but I just want to do everything at once, but I can't, so I do none of it.  And that's just dumb.  Do any of you ever feel this way?

My overly-organized brain like me to clean and organize my room every couple months, so that is what the majority of my day has consisted of.  I'm trying to create more open space.  It seems like my room can never be organized enough.

Drivers Ed started today, so I'm back to waking up early for the next two weeks. The class is at 8 in the morning so it's just like school, expect for the next two Fridays when the group I'm in gets to wake up even earlier to drive at 6 AM.

I've got to go now and catch up on sleep.

Kate

PS
I'm glad you had a cool birthday, Kayla.

White Album.

Hi everyone, sorry I missed last weeks post, I had a lot going on and I wasn't really able for it.

I'm not sure where I'd like to live, I think America always appealed to me because all my favourite TV shows and films are set there, plus I've never been. Other than that I sort of like Germany and the Netherlands. I'm hoping to go on a J1-visa to America next summer. It'd be really cool to work and live over there for a few months.

I'm listening to The Beatles White Album now, that's really just a great album.

My exam were great aswell, I'm really happy with them. I wasn't expecting them to be anything spectacular but I suppose I always have a pessimistic outlook on how my exams will go. I find I focus on the things I got wrong a lot more than the things I got right.

Happy birthday Kayla, I'm glad you had a good day. :)

I've started reading Tender is the Night by F. Scott Fitzgerald, it's pretty good, I don't think it's as good as The Great Gatsby but it's still alright.

Postjacker Part Two

I apologize but I have been working on an essay literally all day and I just finished. I don't want to be awake any more so I'm just going to rush in every way possible.

Kayla that sounded like the best birthday ever, and Deidra your presents sounded so made-of-awesome! Kate I'm glad your back home again, your summer sounds jammed.

I don't know if you guys have ever had to work with Prezi, but it's been making my life a living hell. I decided it would give off a cool effect if I drew the drawing I wanted to put in myself, and they're coming out nice, but I might need more time to finish them and they're due Tuesday. I only have two and a half done out of ten.

Finals are next week, and on Wednesday I'm going to a lecture at URI (University of Rhode Island) to hear someone talk about pollution and jazz.

Have awesome weeks.

~Katie

P.S. I will be back to the swing of things by the time school ends.

Super Special Birthday Post

Hey guys posting this at like really close to twelve again, but this time I have a good reason. I wanted to do everything, including prom, before I posted so that I could talk about it. I won't post pictures because half of them are on a friends camera, maybe I'll put them in a later post.

But yeah, so it's my 18th birthday! Yaaaay! I had a really good day actually. It was super full of stuff and super fun. First I had to finish decorating for prom, it turned out pretty good I think. Not as extravagant as some years, but still really nice. Our theme was A Starry Night. At lunch Deidra gave me her present, it was a bunch of manga, a painting she made of the Starry Night with the TARDIS flying in it, and this super epic awesome Tumblr card. I had no idea what I was going to get from her so I was super excited about her gift.

Then I did a bunch of school stuff and then when I got home I hurried to finish my Data Report, which I left until today because I'm stupid and was feeling really lazy. But I got it in with time enough for me to get ready for prom. (Though I had to rush a bit.)

Then we went to the dance. We had to do the coat check for a while since we are on student council but it was at the beginning when nobody was really dancing yet so I didn't mind. Once we were done we actually got everyone to dance with us. Everyone is really shy about dancing first usually so we just went right for it with several other friends and eventually we had a huge group going. And I don't really know how to dance at all, but I did anyway, just kinda bouncing around and stuff. And yeah we totally ended up dancing for like a solid two hours. My feet are killing me now. But it was worth it, this was probably the funnest dance I've been to. I think it's because Deidra was there so I didn't feel as awkward. It was really fun.

Also I'm going to Thunder Bay tomorrow to pick up my sister and to visit with family to celebrate my sister's birthday (day before mine), my birthday (today!), and my Papa's birthday (also today!). So that should be lots of fun. My sister is staying until after my grad so I have a couple days to spend with her which is nice.

DFTBA and have super awesome weekends,
Kayla
