I wonder if a tail would improve my balance

Hey everyone. Hope your weeks have been going well. Grad photos were this week, which I almost completely forgot. Besides our individual ones we were allowed to sign up for buddy pictures so Deidra and I got some done, we did the Nerdfighters hand sign in one picture.

I did manage to finally go see Chronicle last weekend. It was pretty good, not exactly what I was expecting to see, but good none the less. I think I liked it because if by some chance some teens got super powers in real life I could see them behaving the same way the guys in the movie did.

Our teachers just informed us today that there's going to be a field trip to Thunder Bay on March 2nd to go view a bunch of science and medical labs. I'm really excited about it because I'm going into biology for university so I think it will be cool to go see what everything is like. We're even going to be seeing a DNA lab so that's cool.

My sister just showed me this song and it's already stuck in my head. It's called Somebody That I Used to Know (feat. Kimbra) by Gotye. You guys should check it out. Oh, and I only just realized that Martin Freeman, the guy who plays Watson in Sherlock, is also playing Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit. It's kind of strange I didn't realize it sooner I think, but I guess it makes sense because I only started watching Sherlock a while ago. Also just randomly wondering, do any of you guys watch the TV show The Walking Dead?

Adam, hope your tests went well. I've never even watched a rugby game on TV or in real life before (mostly because I'm not really into watching sports, but also because rugby isn't really as big here in Canada usually everything is about hockey) so it will be interesting to see those pictures if you post them.

Kate, I've often wondered what animals think when they see humans. I mean we stand upright, we have no tails, and we have no head-to-toe fur. Whereas we're completely fine with how we look it's very strange to think about it from an outside point of view.

I thought a bit about your question Deidra and I think I would choose a prehensile tail. It just seems like it would be useful to have an extra limb that can grab and hold stuff. Runners up: wings, gills, and a turtle shell.

To Be, or Not To Be?

You know what I would love to be right now? Asleep. I would love to be able to sleep for the next week, undisturbed, with no consequences. It would help me so much. I have been staying up late every night this week to get homework done, and it is really taking a toll. So tonight I got all my work done super early so that I could go to bed early.

We have moved on in our English class and are now studying Hamlet. So far I really like what I have read. The plot is good, and it seems like it will be all the way through, but the characters are all so horrible. I mean, they are written very well, but they are just bad people. Hamlet is so indecisive and whiny, I can't stand him. Either kill yourself or get on with your revenge, never mind 40 line soliloquies thinking about it!

Yesterday was picture day, one of my least favourite days of the year. I don't really like having my picture taken, and never even get them printed anyway. Since this is my final year though, I decided to do something really different. As I am kind of against hair dye, I ended up using food colouring to make my hair blue. It turned out looking pretty cool. A little dark, since my hair isn't as blonde as it used to be, but still blue all the same.

I don't have one favourite mythical creature. I like them all. Some of my most favourites are the manticore, pheonix, centaurs, and valkyries. I love mythology and all of the creatures that have come from them. I like to hear new takes on old classics, which is also why fantasy is my favourite genre.

Are you guys going to do anything for Hallowe'en this year? Go out trick or treating, a party, or something? If so, (or not), are you dressing up? I am going to be wearing a pair of black angel wings to school on Monday, to be in the spirit. This year though, I am staying home and will probably just watch a movie or something.

As always, hope you all have had a good week and have a great weekend. Don't forget to be awesome!

Whatever happened to vampires burning in the sun?

Seems like most of us are stressed about school at the moment. I myself have a couple of things piling up in the homework department along with the fact that in about a month I have to apply to universities, which means that I have to choose where I want to go. I'm thinking University of Guelph will be my top choice since it has a good vet program and it seems nice overall. It will be pretty far from home though.

I ended up watching New Moon and Eclipse this week. Yes, I'm talking about the Twilight series. No, I don't actually like Twilight. I just watched them because they happened to be playing and I wanted to see for myself if the movies were any good or not. And at the risk of offending anyone here who likes Twilight let me just say, wow, how did this series become so popular? I already ranted most of my annoyances with Twilight to Deidra as I was watching the movies, but I just want to say one thing. How come when someone's talking on a phone in the same room as a vampire the vampire can't hear the person on the other end. It makes no sense.

Anyway, enough of that. If you share my feelings about Twilight and want a good laugh you should definitely check out Vampires Suck. I've seen it a couple times already and it still makes me chuckle.

Adam, Thanks Giving to my family is when we get together and have a delicious turkey meal with all the trimmings. We just enjoy each other's company really. I'm pretty sure traditionally it's supposed to be more related to it's name as in you're supposed to think of the things you are thankful for in your life and give thanks for them.

Katie, I think a genius is someone who thinks or sees things differently than the majority of people. It's like they think on a whole different level. They can see things and connect things better as well. As for classics, I don't really tend to read them, but I'm trying to change that. If only I had more time. I started Journey to the Centre of the Earth at the end of summer, but it's sitting on my desk half finished right now. It's not even that long and I was really enjoying it. Darn school.

Kate, hang in there. I'm sure you'll do fine in school. Remember to take some time off for yourself too even if you have homework and stuff. It's not good to overwork yourself.

Kira, don't feel too sad. Here's some pictures from near my house and from Thunder Bay too, hopefully they'll help. :)
