Classy

First off, sorry that I didn't leave any links but I haven't really gotten into any websites to link to. I might be starting a Youtube vlog next week so I'll keep you guys posted on that!

Deidra, I thought your question on classics was really interesting, and to be honest I'm not fully sure what makes a classic. My experience of classical literature tends to be that their appeal lies in the powerful use of language, compared to more modern literature (such as Harry Potter) where the appeal lies in the immersive plotline and relatable characters. I suppose both are perfectly acceptable interpretations of the art form of writing a book. If all else fails, I personally love the Mark Twain quote: A Classic is something everyone wants to have read and no one wants to read.

Kayla, your trip to Ottawa sounded really cool, what do you want to study in the university there?

The days are very long lately, I find myself thinking about college a lot..... It's all a bit worrying and overwhelming, I'd just love to know how my exams went......

Also, all my friends are gone to Oxegen (a big Irish music festival) today to see my favourite bands Arctic Monkeys and Foo Fighters and I couldn't go because apparently you need this stuff called money... but oh well, as the songs says  "L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N."

Anyway, it's my time to go for this week, but out of interest do North Americans have a stereotypical view of Ireland? I've always kinda wondered about that.

  1. i think the only stereotypical view of Ireland is the whole 'drunks' thing that comes from movies. that and the friendlyness. i only believe the latter part of that. love the irish accents though. :p

  2. The Irish accent is probably my favourite accent ever, as long as it's not too thick otherwise I can't understand what they're saying. But ya, Deidra said the only things I can think of for Irish stereotypes.
