Roar.

I am literally falling asleep at the key board, and its only 8:36. I can't think of much to type. I had a kinda bad week, on Thursday until today. Its fine though, I'll get over it! So Adam I think you should do the Doctor Who episode for NaNoWriMo, if you don't have anything else. Now its 9:43. I suck at this! There isn't much that went on. I've been really tired over the week. Like I would go to bed at nine, wake up at 5:30 and still be tired. When I wasn't at school I would sleep on the bus, on the couch, in front of desk. That's why homework's been such a hassle lately. And right before November. It better stop or writing 50,000 words will be impossible. I'm about to start this book called Num8ers. Not a typo by the way. That's the title. My mom got it from the library and it seems okay. I just really want to start The Odyssey, but the books haven't come in yet! Um....Have I mentioned how intimidating my new Spanish two honors teacher is? She's scary. I have a feeling I won't do so well with her. I mean she says the pace we're going at is too slow and that we have to speed it up. That scares me, because I'm not too good at learning languages. I'm going to go start Num8ers. I actually don't think its possible to love two classes this much. I have both History[or 'Humanities' as they call it] and English class with one teacher, and I have to say its a great way to start my day. I have those as my honors and so the classes are in the morning and he always seems to make our day better. I should first state that I'm not one of those people who think my teachers are attractive, that's way too creepy for me. That and he's gay [fact, not someone judging because they act different or because they are dumb.] Now that's out of the way, the reason his classes are awesome is because he gets excited about what he teaches, he makes jokes, and generally tries to keep the two hours we have with him fun.

So Kate has stress with school and Kira misses Canada, how can we fix both those problems with one solution...DANCE PARTY! *flails arms* Better? Probably not, but eh I can only do so much. [random change in topic] I love the classics. I was compiling a list for the English and History class classic literature. I hope my teacher lets us read A Tale of two Cities I own two different copies of the book and have been dying to read it. Now hold on while I think of something to write about... 

Oh okay I had gym for the first time this week and it was horrible. Nothing the teacher did, it was us [as per usual with kids I go to school with]. The first day we were doing this activity that involved bonce-y balls and one of the eleventh graders decided he would take the ball and not tell anyone [even though we soon found out.]. He's about sixteen or seventeen taking toys from a gym class. The next day it rained so we played this game thing where one person was blind-folded and the other person had to lead them. The object was to get the blinded person to pick up random tennis balls off the floor and into buckets that got circulated around the room. The hard part was once they picked up the ball the couldn't walk. So the same guy who took the ball last time had his partner throwing balls across the room due to poor directions. I swear I was hit like ten times! 

That was Wednesday and Thursday in a nutshell. I just finished dinner and its 8:36. I am posting this before five minuets after mid-night to avoid my English paper and am very happy with the way things have been coming about lately. Something I think would be interesting to debate is your opinions on the Occupy protests? Do you know what they are? Is it effecting you or anyone you know?

103 Reasons to love the classics

I'm sitting in the dark!

Or at least I was at seven o'clock when I started writing this! Aw this weekend has been very close to perfect it has. I didn't have to ride the bus with the annoying kids on Friday. Instead I was picked up by my friends mom and we drove to her house. Our friend who goes to a different school arrived later in the evening and we stayed up playing cards, eating popcorn, and having an all-round nerdy time. 

We talked about news, school, and things we liked/disliked. I really missed my friend. Whilst having such an awesome time, we planned for us to all go see a movie this afternoon. We ending up seeing Dream House, which wasn't all as 'scary' as the previews lead it to be. Now I'm not one for scaring myself with films, but this couldn't scare an eight year old. It was mostly really confusing, at parts. I guess the reason it wasn't so frightening was because we made it a laugh.

Adam, Thanksgiving is holiday, in which we give thanks to god or something. At least, that's how my family views it. The whole turkey feast between the Europeans and Native Americans is crap. Not sure what it means in Canada. I explained that really poorly, sorry. I'm not a big fan of the tradition, so I'm a bit bitter toward it. Oh well. I'm glad your song Bad Wolf is completed!:)

Deidra thank you for the feed back on my poem-ish thing. Glad you enjoyed it. I quite liked it myself. The RH Experience were one of my favorites from Stickaid as well. I'm personally not a big fan of granola bars myself. The texture is weird. Thank you again, for your lovely responses to the quote! I had pretty much the same feelings toward it. My next question thing is 'what makes a genius?' I actually thought of it earlier tonight while watching a John Lennon special. My mom said she thought John had gotten weird over the years, and it made me think he was a genius. Therefore geniuses are weird.

Speaking of which, Its John and Sean Lennon's birthdays today, as well as John Entwistles birthday. I thought that was very interesting. Them all having the same birthday, years apart. So I watched like three John Lennon specials in a row and it really disturbed me how Chapman thinks of himself as Holden from 'The Catcher in the Rye'. Something my mom and sister said was that many murders make references to the book, and I can't understand why. 

Speaking of old literature, do you guys read classics? Like Oliver Twist or Scarlet Letter? Just curious because my class is reading 'The Odyssey'. The non-honor kids in the class [small school, so we're mixed] read from book five and on, but because I'm honors I get to read the first book and on. What fun!! Though, I am looking forward to it! Its Getting Better All The Time...

A little better, since you've been mine. So this week wasn't the best week, but it was better.Yesterday was amazing, as well as most of today.  I still think some type of theme is in order, but I have no idea what. Except turtles. No reason really, I just think turtle week would be fun. My friend Anna finally read Looking For Alaska, and is on Katherine's [I made her a Nerdfighter, so I wasn't alone!]. Anyway the reason yesterday was so awesome was because I finally caught John doing a live show. He was answering questions from Twitter and he answered mine, which made me happy-dance. Something he said and I quote: "No idea why hackers chose your pants." So yea, it was great. Also, Doctor Who was quite amazing, I really enjoyed it. Today was good because I watched Savannah [http://www.youtube.com/user/savanamazing] on blogtv. Then I went outside with some books, my iPod, pillows, blankets, and drawing paper. I was out there from 3:00pm-7:00pm relaxing. What made it notsome was when these asshat collage kids honked there horn at me when the drove by. I didn't do anything to them, but lay in my front yard minding my own business. Oh I also made you this:

 

I think its one of my best. You can't read the bottom, but I named it Craig. Not sure why, just thought it fit. So that's Craig the dinosaur everyone. There is this cat in my neighborhood that my mom and sister say looks like my cat [same colors, but not breed]. I saw he/she next door in there back yard and had it come right to me. I pet he/she then went back over to my blanket. A few minuets later it was coming toward me. He/she came on my blanket, but got scared away by my dog. He was barking at this guy walking. It ran across the street and left, but it was the cutest cat. Here's a photo:

 

Glad you guys have had a good week, I have a question for you. I was asked to define what being a "hero" was this past week. So now I would like you to define "hero" and try and find someone to fit that definition. Mine was the Uncultured Project, because Shawn is made-of-awesome. Sunshine and Giggles and All-round Happiness

So I'm having a good Sunday. Not sure how tomorrow will go, or the next day, or the next. All I know is that last week sucked. It seemed that everyone [including most teachers] Forgot To Be Awesome. Now I'm not going to lie to you. My week was so bad, Saturday I spent the morning crying into my pillow [to which I fell back asleep I was so stressed]. I don't want you to feel bad, because you guys didn't do anything. My school is just...unfair to certain kids [being me]. Now I don't want to give detail because it upsets me, and I don't want tears on my key board. I just had a tough week, that's all.

However I'm glad you guys seemed to have had an awesome week! First off, Kate I follow you on Twitter and I'm glad for your new present! Kira I can't believe what happened to you, stuff like that annoys me to no end. Campion I know how you feel, sports don't really interest me either. Deidra I find it awesome that you get to read The Great Gatsby at the same time as the rest of Nerdfighteria. And Adam Happy early 18th birthday!!!!!! I hope it will be an awesome day for you!

You know something, I like doing is chores. I don't find them annoying. In my house I do the dishes, bathroom, living room, and my side of my bedroom. I also from time to time help cook. I like doing these things, they calm me down and help me to focus on doing one thing at a time, which is always something I need to do. Sure I complain a bit, but today that was because Savannah [http://www.youtube.com/user/savanamazing] was on blogtv and I thought Hey I can go watch and have fun. But then I was reminded of my chores and got a bit sad.

This week I didn't have any homework really and same for the next week. I have a lot of YouTube to catch up on, because I have such a long day. I get up at 5:30am and get home at around 5:30-6:00pm. A really long day compared to last year. So I on;y have enough time to eat dinner and do homework. The interwebs get left behind. I'll try and find a way to squeeze it in though. So the title lied, I didn't want you to read the title and go 'oh great shes in a bad mood' because I'm not. I just had a rough week, and an okay weekend. I will go and watch my sub box and draw some dinosaurs [I draw a mean cartoon dinosaur]. Until next week you lovely kick-ass people!

I Can Be So Dumb

I swear sometimes I think "If my head weren't attached to me, I'd lose it." This is 100% true and I have the most perfect example to prove so. Alright well I got my supply list for school on Friday, so me and my mom decided we try and get everything Saturday. We got me a haircut and everything I needed off my list and headed home. We realized we had bought the wrong calculator and had to return it to the shop. [I still actually don't understand how I got TI-83 mixed up for TI-30. That's not the point.] While at the shop on Sat. we saw the most adorable thumb drives [flash drives] on sale. They were thumb drives designed to look like animals, so I got one that looked like a panda bear. That night I unpacked and put together everything and placed it in my bag for Tuesday, except the panda drive [thought it was a cute name]. It had an option to make it a key chain, but my sister said it would be cuter as a necklace. So this morning I took it off my desk and tried to find a chain to fit it. 

I didn't have much luck so I set it on my bed and did other things. Being the worrisome person I am I checked my supply list again and realized I needed colored pencils for art. So I got mine out [spread them on my bed] and took out the basic colors that come in a package thinking that that would be enough. Not noticing that when I put the rest back, I picked up the panda too. After finishing that it was time for me to catch a bus to get to that shop and return the calculator. Its Sunday so the bus doesn't run as often, I had to wait awhile. I got home around four-thirty and started labeling the important things like the new calculator I had to buy [again]. I ate dinner and remembered I wanted to show my brother and grandmother the panda drive. 

So after dinner I went downstairs to my room to grab it. Not remembering I accidentally put it in with the colored pencils I started to panic and turn my room inside out. I retraced my steps and searched every inch of my room with the help of my sister. Now I did check the pencil bag, but I didn't dump it so I couldn't see the panda. Its been hours, at least five or so looking for this thumb drive. When my sister tells me to dump out the bin the colored pencil pouch was in. So when I got to the pencils I dumped it out and BAM my sister starts cheering and then calling me names because I made her search with me that entire time. So yea, I sometimes feel like I have no brain.

Most exciting Sunday post yet? And its not over! :o So things that make me truly happy, eh? Tough one. So much eaiser to think of things that annoy me. I'll give it a go:

1.Seeing someone I like after a long while of not seeing them.

2.Being alone in a nice place.

3.Listening to a song that fits any occassion.

4.Doing something good for someone because you can.

5.Putting clothes on right after they finish in the dryer.

6.Going out side in the winter, getting cold, then going back inside to warm up.

7.Knowing I did an awesome job on an assignment before I hand it in, and getting an A.

8.Being part of such an awesome community like Nerdfighteria.

9.Laying on the grass watching the clouds and feeling the earth move beneath me.

10.That feeling you get, right before you go to sleep.

Well, that's my list! I'm quite pleased with it. A very good exercise, to think of all the things that make you happy. I actually couldn't start school on Thursday because the hurricane took out the power at my school. So I start Tuesday! Tomorrow will be my last day of summer...sadness. I enjoy summers a lot, because of all the wonderful sleep. Though it will be nice to see my friends Irl and have a schedule to follow. I want to get to sleep so let me finish up real quick. I hate coffee and red bull, I hope your testing went well Campion, I haven't seen any or read Rise of the Planet of the Apes. I might, not sure. Last but not least I hoping moving out and moving in goes smoothly for you Adam!

So I managed to write about a panda thumb drive, happiness, more school, and you guys. Good.

Just Listening

Hiya.

Its afternoon here and its a pretty normal day. I'm on the computer in my basement waiting out hurricane Irene. Yup I live on the east coast and its ridiculous how serious [and not serious] people are taking the hurricane. I think it will be okay and nothing will go wrong. So I'm waiting for the hurricane to prove me wrong. Nothing so far. People are actually taking surfboards to the beach still, and are still on the roads even though it is highly suggested to stay indoors.

Okay so I just realized I didn't answer questions from last week in my post so I will do that now.

 I play the clarinet, guitar, piano, and I have tried really hard to gain a saxophone. I actually seriously considered buying one from Luke [http://www.youtube.com/user/LukeIsNotSexy] but I didn't have the money. I also play a mean glockenspiel. That's about all I can play, for now. Favorite Doctor Who, well most recently its "The Doctor's Wife" which is the episode Neil Gaiman wrote. I thought last nights episode was good, for the most part. it had a few good [even great] twists, but nothing I didn't already suspect would happen. Not sure if you guys caught it last night so I won't mention the parts I enjoyed or the ones I thought were, well eh.

Adam I'm glad you had a good time at the debs, you looked good, and "Prom King"! Glad the suit was all business. Campion your YouTube channel is awesome, I hope you keep making videos. Kayla sounds like everything is going awesome, and that's great! Kate and Kira I hope your classes do get better. Deidra I'm sorry about the whole prom situation, I'm not one for dances, though I still go to be with friends.

I've been doing a lot of listening and watching lately. Like right now I'm listening to Maureen Johnson read from her book "The Name of the Star" on blogtv. As for watching...well I have Buffy the Vampire Slayer on my computer.

I technically start school this Thursday, so I hope that goes well. And my favorite charity is A Wish Come True, which is like Make A Wish where they give a child  their wish. An example would be how A Wish Come True sent me to Disney World when I was eight. The same charity sent my second oldest brother to Disney World when he was four. So they were and are a big part of my life, therefor I deem them my favorite.

Twice I've Done This Today

Hey you lovely people, guess what?

The awesomeness that is my computer is BACK! So I'm happy. It returned to me this past Wednesday, and we have been together ever since! That sounded really weird...sorry. Anyway this means I can type as much as I want for as long as I want! So much awesome has happened within the past week, it was really hard to wait until today to tell you.

I don't know if you guys follow the awesomeness that is Evan [http://www.youtube.com/user/naveregnide] on YouTube. I do. Today he went on blogtv and played through his new album that is due to come out soon. It was great getting to listen to it before it released, so I knew whether or not I would enjoy it. Like how Alex Day has player's on his website so you can listen before you buy. Well I enjoyed it immensely, and will be saving the change from the couch cushions so I can have the songs myself.

 If you did watch that short, and very poor quality video I made about my vacation to North Carolina, I can confirm that it was actually that boring. Not sure if I mentioned if me and my sister actually got to the waterfall or not, but we didn't. By the time we turned back, and were almost out of the trail, [which, by the way was the most horrendous path ever. two miles of large rocks and nothing else. Not a path, paths are smooth not bumpy.] my dad showed up in his car and gave us a ride back to the cabin we were staying at. Apparently where we turned around was five minutes away from the stairs to the waterfall. The stairs however were like another mile...so either way that wasn't happening.

Oh and my scheduling went well. I will be in:

Honors English

Honors History

CP [College Prep] Environmental Physics

Algebra 1

And my after school activities will be Visual Arts [so art class].

I am very pleased with the classes, and I am excited to attend them. The down side was purchasing the uniforms. It cost around one-hundred thirty dollars.:(

Another important thing or things I guess is I got Twitter and a personal blog. Tumblr was a bit too...Tumblr. So I just got a blogger.

Oh another thing was how well this girl named Catherine is doing with her fundraiser for the ALS Association. She is well on her way to decreasing world-suck for people with ALS. If you guys want to help her reach her awesome goal of 2,000 dollars, share this video:

People Are Strange

This will be short, for I am tired. Its 12:23 in the morning on Sunday. You must be wondering why I'm posting so early, and that is because I'm in North Carolina visiting people and family. I want to say that deep down I like or possibly love this place, but that would be bullshit. I hate it here.
I would like to know where Adam went. Just wondering. Also happy belated birthday Campion! I know, but I would feel rude if I didn't say it. I'm a Microsoft gal. My reason: "Apple is so simple its confusing."-My dad. I decided against joining Pottermore early. Its For The Lolz and Stuff

Hello you wonderful people of awesomeness! I had a very okay-ish week. However I am in an awesometastic mood, so yea, rainbows and kittens and stuff...:D

I can never for the life of me remember what I was going to say or what you guys said that I want to address/answer. So this is going to be hopefully very long if I can remember/find it all. Lets start with my own excitement and move from there, shall we. I am bursting at the seams with joy for two reasons or more. 1. My friend went to camp in France, and she sent me a postcard! So lets count, that's mail from England and a postcard from France. I will hopefully be writing her back sometime this week! 2. I might be going to see Katie Costello LIVE! I'm not sure if you have heard of her, Alex Day blogged about her once, and I fell in love with her music.

Next, I'm not sure if we have any substitutes for Mars Bars that you don't have. I also have had a Kinder Surprise Egg one Easter when I was four. Not sure if they're still around in the states or not. Kayla I'm so excited to see the progress of your flower sprouts! I love growing things, sadly I don't have and can't start a garden. My dog would eat all the crops :( It would be lovely to fill my front and back lawn with a garden!

Kate I am currently downloading the first Doctor on my computer and I can't wait to watch past episode one. I have also made several scrapbooks. Two of them are from my Wish to Disney World when I was eight, one from several field trips to places like farms and museums, and one of them is of my animals which is mostly cats.

I don't have a favorite food. I'm a flexitarian, which is a part-time vegetarian. I really only eat meat on Thanksgiving, by force may I add because turkey is disgusting. I must say though, that I love pineapple. Also I don't plan on seeing the 3rd Transformer film. I didn't like the first one to begin with, just not my thing. I used to watch the show with my sister when I was younger, but even then it didn't interest me.

I do, however love Pokémon. I have the first 150 in card form, my sister has little figures, a monopoly game and the video games. We used to play the card game with the little figures to make it more real because we're just that dorky. And  Pokémon wasn't just me and my sister, it was my entire family of five children. Something I forgot and will mention now is that is there such a thing as Doctor Who Bear? I was wondering because my mom misheard my brother when he said Doctor Who and thought he said Doctor Who Bear, which is awesome. If it isn't already a thing I think we should make it a thing and have it be our mascot!

Excitement and things

Hello, and welcome to a two part blog post.

Part One: Excitement.

My sister's back from her trip to Australia! That's about it...

Part Two: Things.

I got Royal Mail the other day, it was strange because I forgot why. Then I remembered I order A Midsummer's Night Dream off Alibris, and that it was coming from the UK. It came with a bookmark that had the Morse Code Alphabet. Also, something that just happened, I ate a Mars Bar. We don't have them in the states, so my sister brought two back from Australia, that and Tim-Tams I think is what its called. Anyway I tried it, not sure I liked it too much. I was expecting it to taste, well different. It was really rich so now I feel a bit sick, death by candy. 

Moving on to Trock. I really like Nightmares, Traveling Man, Mr. Pond, Silence and the End of All Things, and Still Not Ginger. If I had to narrow it down it would be Traveling Man. Also, I think its cool you started a Trock band Adam, I can't wait to hear your finished album. Also I'm not sure if I know any musicians that you guys don't know...

Changing topics again to Harry Potter. I'm only on the third book, and have seen up to the fifth movie. Please don't spoil anything so I can enjoy the last book when I get there. So far Harry Potter really means nothing to me. I feel it would have been better if I read them as they were coming out or if I started earlier. I wish I didn't feel that way, but I do and there's not much I could do to fix it. 

I cleaned my room, and I must let you know this was a three day process. It got bad. Anyway I go through the effort of getting ride of stuff I didn't need, use, or want and my sister comes home and makes a mess of it. Just like she didn't appreciate anything I did to make it look nice. I mean you can't tell ALL the work I did because most of was organizing, but still.

I've been writing this throughout the day, I found it easier to remember what to write. SO I guess I'll go.

So I'm lying in my bed all ready to fall asleep, and I start thinking about better ways to do things. How to cut spending and be more efficient with time, energy, the usual. I can feel myself drifting off to rem sleep, and suddenly I say to myself, "fuck, I forgot to write a post." Yup. I really need to remember these kinda things better!

I went to the zoo on Friday. It was a different zoo, out of state that was supposed to have a wider range of animals. It was a lot of fun, because it was just me and my mom spending time together. I love the lions and tigers. I would show you a photo, but my computers being difficult.So here is one off Google, the tiger looked like this one so I  see no real harm.

Only one book comes to mind and that is Saving Max by Antoinette van Heugten. It's a thriller murder mystery kind of thing. I wouldn't knock it though. It was absolutely an amazing read. Also Deadline by Chris Crutcher. I'm really tiered, so I think I'll end with a question and go. What's your favorite animal at the zoo?

Its late and I'm not creative enough for titles, my apologizes.

Sorry its not going to be Sunday when you read this. My mom had the day off and made it the day-we-do-nothing-but-clean-because-I-say-it-is. I really hate these days. Anyway I'm going to address some of the things below now.

Kate the fourth of July seems ages ago to me, not sure about you! I have successfully found a math tutor who works really cheap, but thank you for the offer.

Kira I have never heard of the book Rebecca I would love if you could leave the author in the comments on this or in your next blog post, thanks!

Campion I'm jealous of the fact you got to play Pokemon under a desk during school, and the fact that you can find people still willing to play! I do hope you share your rap battle of Shakespeare's Henry the fourth part 1. 

Deidra I'm so glad you brought the whole classic thing to my attention. I have thought long and hard about my reply. A classic is something that can jump the barrier from old to new. Ex. Jane Eyre, classic love story. A love story that can cross between the old and new barrier and still be loved. Oliver Twist is one of my favorite classics.

Kayla your trip to Ottawa sounded really fun, and I would love to see photos.

And for Adam, some stereotypes. Drunk, catholic, red hair, freckles, bad temper, and leper cons[one word?]. I actually watched an Irish movie called The Race, that pretty much fit all those stereotypes, so feel free to defend your land!

I had a long, boring week, I can't wait until my sister gets back from Australia, and I think I'm done.

I'm bad with titles, so I'm not sure what to put? What day of the week is it again?

Hey, hi, hello! I'm Katie, the lovely person who writes on Sundays. I've currently only been awake for an hour, so I do apologize if I ramble or something. I think I'm going to start off answering the various questions.

1. How I became a Nerdfighter is a wonderfully weird tale. Being a fan of Doctor Who [and having a YouTube account] I decided to go on YouTube and see what content they had for Doctor Who. A few videos down and I saw a guy with red hair in the caption[Charlie], with the title Doctor Who? I watched it, liked, then didn't subscribe to Charlie for three months. After I did subscribe I found the vlogbrothers, and you know, BOOM Nerdfighter!  I told you it was weird.

2. Zombie's, Pirates, Purple, December eighth. 

Two facts about my birthday is, 1. John Lennon died that day [1980], and 2. Jim Morrison had the same birthday[1943]. So a positive and a negative, isn't that nice!

3. I have a cat named Kristal [yes, like the drink], a dog nicknamed Bear [full name? Grisly Bear Johnson Jones Adams Jr. the Third. My brothers dog.], a guinea pig [not sure how to spell her name, its from an Anime my sister watches.], and two leopard geckos whose names I never remember! 

I should probably let you know some general things. 

Music: I'm obsessed with The Who, and my friends tease me to know end. This year in school we had to do superlatives for the kids in our class [its a small school] and mine was near the end, and I didn't know what they came up with, so I was a bit worried. Most likely to be The Who's band groupie. I hate them for that! However that's not the only band or genre of music I listen to. I like music from the 1940s' to the 1990s'. From Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, and The Monkees. To Bon Jovi, Queen, The Presidents of the United States, and Madness. I'm not actually a big fan of 70s' music, its got a lot of soul. I do like some modern music, but the only thing that comes to mind is Lady Gaga. I also like classical composers like Bach and Mozart. I like YouTube musicians like Alex Day, Chameleon Circuit, Tom Milsom, and Hank. I've never really listened to Country, Rap, Hip-Hop, things of that nature.

Television: Doctor Who, Top Gear, Torchwood, Star Trek, How I Met Your Mother, Whose Line Is It Anyway, Invader Zim, and most recently Franklin and Bash.

 

Other things: I live somewhere in the U.S., I'm a flexitarian, a part of the Nermie Army, I ramble obviously, I like using random colors, I LOVE art, I'm terrible at math [need a tutor!], I'm fourteen almost fifteen, I've just reached five foot, and I'll see ya tomorrow Kate!
