For a Moment I Ruled the World

It's a little late, but I have a very legitimate reason. I was playing Monopoly with my older sister and brother in law. It took about two and a half hours, but I finally overtook them. Bankrupted them both, owned every single property, had over $5000 and many buildings on the board. It was really fun.

In other news, I won't be going back to school tomorrow, as was my original plan. My sister, niece, and brother in law decided to come down to visit for the last few days of the break, so I will drive back up with them on Sunday. A lot later than I wanted to, but I get to spend time with them. So a win-lose situation, but whatever. As long as I get to go and buy my new fish tank and fish.

Kate, I am so jealous of your Doctor Who hoodie (that work looks so wrong). Don't feel bad about not having seen The Hobbit yet. I have not seen it yet either, but am really hoping to see it in the next few weeks once I am back in Thunder Bay. Hopefully it remains in theatres long enough. If not, I will be kind of upset, and crossing my fingers that it will be on DVD rental by the end of February, since I am going to Ottawa to visit Kayla for reading week. I think I would prefer it that way because Kayla and I watched the trilogy together.

Adam. you have no idea how insanely jealous I am that you are going to get to see John Green. I wish he didn't have so many problems with Canada. It makes me very mad that he does. Sorry to hear about you being sick for your exams. That is one of the worst things ever.

I don't really make New Year's Resolutions any more. I realized that by making them so specifically for the New Year, I am mentally setting myself up for failure. Instead, I will just continue with the good habits I have apparently formed over the past few months. I have been eating a lot healthier and actually getting in real exercise each week (minus this Christmas break; being home doesn't agree with those habits). My procrastination issue will always need work, but in the last few weeks of the term I was doing exceptionally well with it. And I have been putting myself out there, especially with open mic nights, so boosting my confidence is going well. So, I guess my resolution is to just continue being awesome.

I can't wait to get back into the groove of a new year and a new school term. It will help with my sleep schedule, boredom, and ability to post on time. Just a few more days. Sometimes I think I'm insane for wanting school, but then I remind myself that I want to be a teacher. Anyway, hope you have all had amazing breaks, are all ready for the 'dreaded' return, and are continuing to be awesome.

The Move (part 1)

Greetings from Ottawa! I got here around 7ish (we left at like 5:30 in the morning) and unloaded the stuff we brought into my apartment. It's the first time I'm seeing my apartment in person so it's pretty cool. My room has a bunch of built in shelving which will be excellent since I will most likely end up with another collection here. I don't have a bed yet though so I'm sleeping with my sister tonight. Hopefully I'll get one tomorrow.

There's a bunch of other stuff I wasn't able to bring down this trip so I'm going to have to get it later this summer when I come to stay for good. I'll only be here for about a week this trip, which means this will be the third Canada Day spent here in our nation's capital. I always like coming here for Canada Day because the celebrations are always way bigger than the ones back in my small town, it's much more fun.

Tomorrow I'm going to be meeting my sister's boyfriend for the first time. I'm actually not very nervous or anything which is kind of surprising, but I know him a little and he seems pretty cool and everything. From what my sister said it seems like he's way more anxious about the whole thing than I am (he's also going to be meeting my parents for the first time, but not until Sunday).

I finished reading Looking for Alaska and I am like 3/4 through Will Grayson, Will Grayson. Both are excellent books. I'm really liking WGWG so far, it's super funny and full of all these ridiculous quotes that make me want to go buy my own copy (I'm currently borrowing Deidra's) and highlight/underline/dogear the whole thing. I am 100% sure Deidra would not appreciate me messing with her copy. What's your guy's opinions on putting marks in books?

Katie, religion has always been somewhat of a grey area for me as well. I go to church every Sunday and I guess technically I could say that I'm christian, but I don't even know what I believe. I'm just like christian by default because of my parents. I actually decided I want to read through the whole bible recently. I'm only in the first book (Genesis) and already there's been a lot of death/murder/incest/lying. I really don't know what to think so far, I guess I'll just keep reading.

Kira, I have to agree with Deidra on this one when I say burning a book (even a really bad one) is a super horrible thing to do. (I know it was your friend that did it, but I would totally wince if I saw someone doing that to a book.) For my art project this year I had to make a journal and I ripped all the pages of a book out so I could use the cover. All the pages stayed together so the book wasn't technically ruined, but I still had a hard time doing it. Felt like I was doing some really despicable act or something.

*Jumps on the Colour Bandwagon*

Like Deidra said, all the snow is pretty much gone here. It's insane. And there isn't even any snow in the forecast. I can't remember it ever being this warm here at this time of year. It's kind of nice except it is not helping me at all in terms of motivation to get school work done.

I didn't really celebrate St. Patricks Day this year. The most I usually do for that day is wear some green or something, but I didn't even do that much because I didn't have any green clothes with me in Thunder Bay.

My school week has been really busy and stretched out. I spent a bunch of time working on some scholarships and stupid calculus. Thankfully though most of that is done for now, and I can relax a bit. Except not really because I have a ton of other stuff to do, including top secret birthday preparations for Deidra. And just to bug you Dee: It's going to be super awesome I can not even tell you how excited I am about what I got you. >: )

I totally agree with you about being able to take a joke, Adam. The Canadian stereotype isn't really offensive in the first place though so I guess that helps in my case. Like, oh no, people think that because I'm Canadian I'm really nice, live in an igloo, and drink maple syrup by the bottle, lol.

Kate, yeah they had four bottle dancers in The Fiddler on the Roof. It was really really cool, it totally looked like the bottles were glued to the dancers' heads, but then they tipped them off at the end and caught it in their hands. That's really cool that your brother did that part in the musical. I wonder if it was very difficult.

Kira, I've always gotten along really well with my sister. Whenever my friends talk about not getting with their siblings I think it's really weird, but then I remember that (at least from my personal experience) I'm the one that's in the minority in terms of sibling relationships.

So I guess I'll ask everyone: what's your relationship like with your siblings? (I think I recall everyone having siblings, but if someone doesn't then: do you wish that you had some?)

I have a beaver tail every time that I go to Ottawa, they are so delicious. My sister actually had a job in the beaver tail shacks that open along the Rideau Canal during the winter. I highly recommend them if anyone here hasn't had them before. They're just one more reason to come visit Canada, haha. : )

Yes, I was the one that hasn't read all the John Green books yet. I hopefully will soon, but I always seem so busy so I'm not sure when I'll get to them. I think I'll read Looking for Alaska next.

And for Deidra/Hunter's question: I can't really remember a lot of the book-to-film movies that I've seen because of my terrible memory. However Ella Enchanted sticks out in my mind as a pretty terrible one. I think a good film adaptation of a book is one that does take a bit of creative rights in terms of how they show what happens, but it still stays true to the story. I read the book after seeing the movie, but let me tell you, they were two completely different stories. I always really liked the movie, so I was excited to read the book when I found it. However after reading the book I was really disappointed at how the movie was. I felt the book was much better and they cut out basically all the good parts or switched them to something else entirely. Pretty much the only thing they kept the same was the fact that the main character has the curse to obey people.

As for a film adaptation that I really liked I would go with Harry Potter just because I can't really think of anything else at the moment. The whole series stuck with the story, but there were also a bunch of little things that were added or changed, most of which I enjoyed or just didn't mind.

Its Getting Better All The Time...

A little better, since you've been mine. So this week wasn't the best week, but it was better.Yesterday was amazing, as well as most of today.  I still think some type of theme is in order, but I have no idea what. Except turtles. No reason really, I just think turtle week would be fun. My friend Anna finally read Looking For Alaska, and is on Katherine's [I made her a Nerdfighter, so I wasn't alone!]. Anyway the reason yesterday was so awesome was because I finally caught John doing a live show. He was answering questions from Twitter and he answered mine, which made me happy-dance. Something he said and I quote: "No idea why hackers chose your pants." So yea, it was great. Also, Doctor Who was quite amazing, I really enjoyed it. Today was good because I watched Savannah [http://www.youtube.com/user/savanamazing] on blogtv. Then I went outside with some books, my iPod, pillows, blankets, and drawing paper. I was out there from 3:00pm-7:00pm relaxing. What made it notsome was when these asshat collage kids honked there horn at me when the drove by. I didn't do anything to them, but lay in my front yard minding my own business. Oh I also made you this:

I think its one of my best. You can't read the bottom, but I named it Craig. Not sure why, just thought it fit. So that's Craig the dinosaur everyone. There is this cat in my neighborhood that my mom and sister say looks like my cat [same colors, but not breed]. I saw he/she next door in there back yard and had it come right to me. I pet he/she then went back over to my blanket. A few minuets later it was coming toward me. He/she came on my blanket, but got scared away by my dog. He was barking at this guy walking. It ran across the street and left, but it was the cutest cat. Here's a photo:

Glad you guys have had a good week, I have a question for you. I was asked to define what being a "hero" was this past week. So now I would like you to define "hero" and try and find someone to fit that definition. Mine was the Uncultured Project, because Shawn is made-of-awesome. DFTBA guys, I'll write to you next Sunday late at night, when its almost Monday!
Bye!♥
P.S. I really like Twitter. Way too much. Its not healthy...
