So my week was pretty crazy, but hopefully I won't be quite as busy next week. I'm going to Thunder Bay this weekend so I'm going to try to get some Christmas shopping done. I'm pretty sure I know what I'm getting for my parents and my sister, which is strange because I usually have trouble figuring out what to get them.

Anyway, like Deidra said we made an awesome Nyan Cat cake last weekend, here's a picture we took before eating it.



Adam, I love Yugioh Abridged Series! There are just so many things to love about it: the voices, all the stupid jokes, stupid internet references. I could write down a whole bunch of my favourite jokes from there, but I'll restrain myself and just say: I agree with you, everyone should definitely check it out.

Kate, I agree about the whole US congress thing. I laughed when I heard they were going to try to censor the internet. The whole pizza vegetable issue also made me chuckle a bit.

Good to hear from you again Campion, it's great your exams are done. I got to say, I definitely don't prepare for my exams as well as you seem to do so I hope you get super awesome marks.

A Sigh of Relief

   After today, I can finally breathe a sigh of relief. I have been working my butt off this past week to get all of the work on my independent study project for my English class done for today. I have worked about a total of at least 12 hours in the past couple days, and I never even ended up finished reading the second book. I can't say how good it felt to be able to hand in the rough drafts and whatnot today. It means at least a weekend free from working or thinking about it. FREEDOM!

   I have been thinking for a while on what I will do my Biology project on, though, since I have been so busy with this one. I have chosen symbiosis in nature, which is basically species who live together mutually and work off of each other. A cool example of this is the clown fish and sea anemones. The anemone provides the fish with protection, and the fish provides the anemone with a source of nutrition. Without each other, they would both likely die. I think it's a pretty interesting topic. At least one that I will not be bored looking into.

   Also this week I submitted my university applications. It was an easy process once I decided what programs I wanted. After I was done though, I don't know if I felt more or less relieved. I mean, I didn't have to worry anymore about doing them, or stressing about what choices to make. But all of sudden the reality that I am in my final year of high school, and in a few short months I will be leaving home to start this, was just all too scary. It was kind of a momentary panic as to what emotion I should be feeling. Makes me wonder what will happen when/if I get accepted.

   Kayla and I ended up watching Edward Scissorhands, which I must say was a really good movie. I laughed a lot, which means that it has to be good. We also made a cake. A NyanCat cake. It was awesome.
   Adam, the Father Ted clip was hilarious. Maybe over the Christmas Break I will watch some of the episodes on YouTube. They really seem like they are worth a look.
   Kate, you are so lucky that you have other Nerdfighers in your town. Other than Kayla, there are no other really nerdy people around here. Which is really notsome. Also, I laugh at the Internet Censorship idea. They can try, but I don't think it is quite possible. People will find a way around it.
   Kira, I am infinitely jealous of your five day weekend. We only got 3 days for our Thanksgiving. Also I had a ton of homework to do during that weekend, which didn't help the relaxation. I hope yours is relaxing though.

   I have a music recommendation for this week. It is Alice's Theme by Danny Elfman, from Alice in Wonderland. I have had the tune from this song stuck in my head all week, and as much as I love love love it, it has driven me crazy. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

I Need a Break ... But I'd Rather Have a Breakthrough

   Clicky the title for my music recommendation. It's basically how I feel right about now. I've been awake since 6 am, to travel to Thunder Bay for a neurologist appointment. It went really well, but the travelling took a lot out of me. It snowed last night, so the roads were kind of horrible, so it took even longer than it usually does to drive there. Then when I got home this evening I had to do English homework, because life is unfair in that way. Then I almost forgot to post.

   Thankfully the weekend is almost here! What would we do without them? Honestly, I would be insanse by now. That is the only way I can keep up with sleep and homework. Also this weekend I am hoping to be able to apply to university if I am not too busy, since I have been lately. I am both excited and not excited to do it. I want to apply, and go through with the whole beginning of the rest of my life thing; I mean, it is a big step, one that I have been waiting for forever. But also I am scared. Yes, the little chicken that I am doesn't want to leave home. I love my family and my horribly little home town. I don't know if I can function without them. Also to leave my friends. That will be difficult. I've grown so close to them, I don't want any of them to leave me. I'll get over it eventually, I know, and make new friends, but still. I don't think I want my life to change.

   I hope that all of your NaNo novels are coming along well. I know that school gets in the way, but keep on writing! I can't wait for the end of November to (hopefully) be able to read some of what you've written. I don't care if you think it's horrible, or if it's unfinished. I'll still want to see what comes from your minds.

  

   Adam, I'm glad to hear that you are coming up with more song ideas. When will we be able to hear the first one? I'm very interested in knowing how it turned out. Especially since it's about Bad Wolf.

   Happy Sweet Sixteen to you, Kate! Here is your cyper-birthday-cupcake, as per my apparent Group of Awesome Tradition. It looks so delicious, I just want to eat it. I hope you had an awesome day, and that you rocked some socks off with your orchestral performance.

Anywho, I am extremely tired, and now really need a break. So don't forget to be awesome, have a great weekend, and yeah that sorta stuff. =D

Whatever happened to vampires burning in the sun?

Seems like most of us are stressed about school at the moment. I myself have a couple of things piling up in the homework department along with the fact that in about a month I have to apply to universities, which means that I have to choose where I want to go. I'm thinking University of Guelph will be my top choice since it has a good vet program and it seems nice overall. It will be pretty far from home though.

I ended up watching New Moon and Eclipse this week. Yes, I'm talking about the Twilight series. No, I don't actually like Twilight. I just watched them because they happened to be playing and I wanted to see for myself if the movies were any good or not. And at the risk of offending anyone here who likes Twilight let me just say, wow, how did this series become so popular? I already ranted most of my annoyances with Twilight to Deidra as I was watching the movies, but I just want to say one thing. How come when someone's talking on a phone in the same room as a vampire the vampire can't hear the person on the other end. It makes no sense.

Anyway, enough of that. If you share my feelings about Twilight and want a good laugh you should definitely check out Vampires Suck. I've seen it a couple times already and it still makes me chuckle.

Adam, Thanks Giving to my family is when we get together and have a delicious turkey meal with all the trimmings. We just enjoy each other's company really. I'm pretty sure traditionally it's supposed to be more related to it's name as in you're supposed to think of the things you are thankful for in your life and give thanks for them.

Katie, I think a genius is someone who thinks or sees things differently than the majority of people. It's like they think on a whole different level. They can see things and connect things better as well. As for classics, I don't really tend to read them, but I'm trying to change that. If only I had more time. I started Journey to the Centre of the Earth at the end of summer, but it's sitting on my desk half finished right now. It's not even that long and I was really enjoying it. Darn school.

Kate, hang in there. I'm sure you'll do fine in school. Remember to take some time off for yourself too even if you have homework and stuff. It's not good to overwork yourself.

Too Much Stress

   Even though this week has been a short one, it has been extremely rough and stressful for me. I ended up having to go the hopsital yesterday because I had some sort of attack or something. I was in Biology, just sitting there listening to my teacher talk and explain the note, and all of a sudden I felt like I couldn't draw in breaths. It was really freaky.
  

   I spent 2 hours in the emergency room, and got an ECG. It was very annoying. They stuck theses little sticker things all over me, which were only necessarry for about two seconds. When I went to take them off, I discovered they were not exactly stickers, but stuck to me with this glue stuff. It was painful to take off. Then I had glue residue all over me. After all of that, my heart was totally fine. They also checked my blood sugar, which was fine, but painful because they stick you with a little needle-like thing. I hate needles. I still have the mark on my finger.

   They kept asking me if there was anything that was causing me stress, or making me anxious. They were trying to imply that it was a panic attack, or something of that nature, but I was completely fine before it happened, relaxed even. Nothing to cause me to panic. In the end, they said they couldn't figure out what happened, and let me go home. But if it happens again I will have to get more extensive tests.

   I really just want this week to be over. I only have done two full days of school, but the work and other things are just making me so tired. I come home after school and I don't want to do anything.

   Kayla, your advice on the inner editor is amazing. Some days I just want to kill him. I am doing homework, trying so hard to just get it finished, and the nagging feeling to go back and change something tends to make the entire process so much longer.

   *Places pillow upon the desk* Allow me to soften the blow of that headdesk, Kate. The weekend is coming up, so make sure you do some relaxing along with your studying. I tend to not study very well for exams, which causes a lot of stress for me.

   I adore the rainbow of colours, Katie!  ^.^ It looks so cool. I am just getting into classics this year. We are currently studying The Great Gatsby, and I absolutely love it. As for The Odyssey, I haven't read it, but I know a lot of the stories from it, as I am kind of a mythology nerd. And to answer your question, I think a genius is someone who is able to question things, and find answers where other people don't see questions or answers. If that makes any sense. It probably doesn't.

   I loved the title of your post, Adam. I can't wait to hear the song. As I have no knowledge of music, the chords you wrote about just baffle me. Also, you said that you don't go farther than 15 minutes from home each day. That seems just nuts to me. I have to take a half hour bus ride to and from school every day. Then again, that's also nuts to me. I hate the ride.

   Kira, don't be too sad. Canada misses you too. Here are some pictures for you. A winter picture from when I lived out at the lake, because we will soon be plagued by the demon cold snow. A deer, because I had it in my files and we have lots of them here. And my favourite sunset, to calm your homesickness.

I Be Distracted

   This week has been a short one for me, since I did not go to school today. My family and I went to the city to do some shopping, and also because they had some appointments to go to. It was mostly boring, as shopping usually is for me, but I bought a book that is surprisingly very good. It is called Boy Proof, and I am almost finished reading it already. I would be done if it hadn't gotten so dark on the way home.

   I don't have school tomorrow, but I still have to get up a bit early to do some work for my online World History course. I have to finish and submit an assignment that I have barely started, since it is due tomorrow. Also this weekend I have to study for a biology quiz, do English homework from today, and start the history assignment that is due on Monday. I really wish school would be over now.

   Craig looked a little lonely, so I drew this for you Katie. I copied the baseline from a Google image, not from my head. I am not that creative. But it is my favourite kind of dinosaur cartoon, because it is so adorable. Also, my definition of hero is someone that you can look up to and take strength and ideas from I guess. I've always been a bit sketchy with the idea of heros. I kinda prefer the term role model, or something of the like. 'Hero' is just a bit too fictional for my liking. I don't know.

  
   Campion I am extremely jealous that you got to see a Shakespeare play. I would love to see one, though I have never read Henry IV. I have only read Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, and The Merchant of Venice. Personally Romeo and Juliet is my favourite of those, but for different reasons than most people. It is the play that really got me interested in English, and one of the main reasons why I now want to study it in university. To see it in the Globe Theatre would be to die for!
   Kira, your story was funny and reminded me of my Wednesday. We were in the library doing our online courses, and a friend of ours decided to take a nap underneath the the computer desks. I mean, he was sort of hung-over, but it was still pretty random.
   Congrats Kate on being sorted into Ravenclaw! Also on being able to play the ukulele so quickly. I am amazed.  =)
   Adam I hope you have a good week and that college is exciting. Please tell us how those challenges went, I am interested in seeing how you did in them.
   Kayla, I will never look at pudding the same way again.

I Refuse To Grow Up

     This past week has been kind of weird. I have been frantically trying to change my online history course for a writer's craft course, and I don't know exactly what is going to happen with it. I am really really hoping to get into it, since English and writing are what I love (and history is just bleh). Also, I have been writing a lot of essays for English class, which has been wearing me down. Essays are not fun to write.

     I did do a fun exercise on descriptive writing, where I had to describe what I can see from my bedroom window. Since I live in the basement I thought it was going to be extremely difficult, but once I opened my blinds (which are always closed, it was the first time they had been opened in months) I found that it was actually pretty easy to describe what was out there.

Living Low

     Soft yellow light filters down through dusty window panes as the tips of dying blades of grass leisurely brush the glass. In the brightening sky jet black birds make slow smooth circles, their shrill calls piercing the tranquility. Rising, the remainder of the scene comes into view. The front lawn unfolds in front of me, a vast expanse of glistening green broken up only by a declining shrub. The small number of remaining leaves make the plant appear skeletal and lifeless. Beyond its twisted branches lies the cracked and faded road, void of people and purpose during this moment. The houses that line the street remain dark, only their faces illuminated by the glowing light radiating from the street lights. Dropping back onto the bed, the scene disappears from view, once again engulfed by the walls of the room.

      I had never heard of Starcraft before you mentioned it in your post, Campion. It seems like an interesting sort of game. I am not much of a gamer, but it looks like something that I might like to try. Anyway, a few days after reading your post, I overheard some guys in my school talking about it. Coincidence? I think not.
      Kayla, the only thing I have to say to you is read more of The Great Gatsby! I finished it on the weekend and am dying to talk about it with you. The beginning of the novel was a little dry, but the ending is what really makes it worth the read. Just keep going!
     Happy Belated Birthday Adam! I hope it was really good and that you celebrated it well. Here is your Internet birthday cupcake, do enjoy!  ^.^  Also, some of those challenges sound pretty scary. I would probably be too embarrassed or shy to do many of them.

     Sorry to hear that you had a suckish week Katie. But I expect to see a dinosaur at some point in the future, so that I have something to cheer me up whenever I have a bad week (since I cannot draw dinosaurs).

     Kate, I am jealous of your ukulele. Although I have no musical talents I would love to have one, because they are so adorable and awesome. Are you going to decorate yours and make it nerdy? Or just leave it like it is?

     Congratulations Kira on your acceptance into Gryffiindor! I also have always believed myself to be a Ravenclaw, but I would accept Gryffindor or Hufflepuff anyday. Slytherin on the other hand, I would not. =P

     I must now go and do more English homework. So I hope you guys enjoyed this post, because I used it to procrastinate my work, and that you all have good weeks. Don't forget to be awesome. Ever!

I realized I missed answering a question from last week! My favorite charity (besides for the This Star Won't Go Out) is Make-A-Wish.  Someday I hope to be a part of it so I can help make a child's wish come true.

I missed Maureen Johnson's reading because my internet wasn't working.  I can't wait until I read her new book.  It sounds amazing.
My first Volleyball game is tomorrow, though it's really just a scrimmage.
I've got to go now, still not quite done with homework.
