Expectations

     Aaaand just on time. While being a relaxing break, it has been quite a busy one. Last Thursday I was away from home all day on account of spending the day and night with Kayla and our friend Heather, and I blanked on posting. Guess my mind was hoping for an apocalypse. That was a joke. Glad we are all alive and not facing zombies or aliens or something ridiculous like that.

     Christmas was a-MA-zing! Spent a relaxing Eve watching Misfits and then going out with the family to look at the lights around town. They were a bit disappointed, but I really liked it. Living on campus doesn't really let you absorb that Christmas-time tradition. I ended up staying awake until 4:30, sending messages to all of my tumblr followers and many facebook friends. And then my mind was just everywhere and wouldn't let me sleep.

     I got exactly what I had asked for, including some things that surprised me. I have a gift certificate to get a new, bigger fish tank and new fish. My younger sister got me some t-shirts off of dftba.com, and my older sister got me pajamas and fuzzy socks. Kayla, my best friend in the world, got me not one but two beautiful pocket watches. And then, what really made it the best Christmas ever was finding out that my older sister is pregnant again! I am so excited, I am going to be an aunt again. She is due next August, which is the only downside because that means I have to wait so long.

     And now to spend the rest of the break relaxing. Which means more sleep, movies, and tv shows. I saw The Perks of Being a Wallflower last night, and it was really good. I hope to see The Hobbit once I return to Thunder Bay. I started watching the show Misfits and am already more than halfway through the third (of four) season. 

     And I will try to talk about it without spoilers, but I might slip up. About the Doctor Who Christmas special. I have many mixed feelings about it. The actual plot of the special was kind of meh, it really got lost among all the new changes and the companion plot. I felt that the instant relationship between the Doctor and Clara was too quick, and was all too similar to that of Amy. And the TARDIS, my baby, what happened there? I wrote a tumblr post about my feelings of it, but suffice it to say I really don't like it. 

     Well, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, and that you have eaten enough turkey and stuffing to last for another 364 days. My toes are freezing and I am itching to watch another movie because aaahhh freedom and time. Enjoy the rest of your holidays and don't forget to be awesome.

Is Anybody Out There?

     Another week gone by, and I feel like I have a lot of things to say today. I meant to write earlier today, but instead I lied in bed and listened to music. It was my alternative to napping, since I was up kind of late last night and then up early for class. 

     Doctor Who. I was at home this weekend and so ended up watching it with my mother and sister, which wasn't bad but not good either. I did cry, quite a bit, even though I have been waiting for Amy and Rory to leave. Well, more just Amy, but whatever. I didn't expect any of that, though. I though that they would die in a more action-y way, but the emotional ending was much worse. What I liked about it was that they are actually gone. Like, the Doctor can go and check up on his other companions (except Rose but she has her own Doctor), but he will never get to see Amy and Rory again. And now I can't wait for Christmas because then we will find out some more of the Oswin plot. 

     Sorry Adam and Kayla about all the work you guys have to do. Maths and science are rough programs when it comes to homework. I mostly get a lot of reading, and honestly I won't have that many assignments for the classes that I am currently taking. The true joys of being an English major. Speaking of reading, I borrowed A Casual Vacancy, J.K Rowling's new novel, from a house-mate. I'm less than 40 pages in, but it's pretty good. I will let you all know my recommendation once I am finished.

     Kate, you entered into what I call 'Walmart Time'. Basically, time does not pass the same as it does in the real world when you are in Walmart. It seems quick when you are shopping, when in reality a lot of time passes, and then seems slow when you are standing in line, when it takes forever and ever and ever and ever. At least here it does. I watched the movie for Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close during the summer, and it was fantastic. I was good then entire movie until the ending, and then I sobbed. I hope the book is even better than the film and that you enjoy it.

     Glad to hear you are enjoying your holiday Campion. In Canada we have our Thanksgiving this weekend, so I am hoping to get a lot of work done while I am home. I looked it up, and $40 New Zealand currency is $32.23 Canadian. I agree with you, it doesn't sound like a lot but any amount of money is good money. I don't think I am able to pick just one favourite fictional character. Between movies, books, and games, there are too many to choose from. I have a favourite from everything I have read, watched, and played, so I can't even think of a few most favourite ones. 

     So I was looking at the blog stats (because I do that periodically) and we have over 11,000 pageviews. I find that to be pretty incredible. I personally can't imagine anyone but us reading the blog. So my question is, if you are reading this and are not a writer for the blog, can you please comment? Or something, I just want to know if people just happen across here or if there are like, weekly readers. 

     Anyway, going home this weekend. It may or may not be fun. I hope you all have amazing weekends and weeks. Stay out of trouble, keep your noses clean. Don't forget to be awesome!

Plans for the Future Near and Far

I've been super super lazy all this week. I think I'm already in my summer mood, so I have very little motivation to do school stuff. Which is bad because everything is starting to get busy as prom and grad draws nearer and exams are in a month.

I did get to see the Avengers last weekend. I won't spoil anything, but I thought the movie was pretty great. I ended up liking Bruce Banner/Hulk and Tony Stark/Iron Man more than I thought I would. Originally I liked Thor and Captain America the best, but now I'm not too sure who's my favourite.

Thanks for your compliments on my Ood drawing. I did end up making another one, of the Silence, as a present for Deidra this time. I'm planning on doing more Doctor Who aliens, but there's so many that I want to do and like I said, schools getting really busy, so I'm not sure when/how often I'll be able to make them.

Kira, yeah my birthday's on the first. I'm really excited for it, but boy oh boy is it going to be a busy day. I have to finish decorating for prom that day, do a calculus test, hand in the written component of my data management ISU (which I will hopefully have done well before that day), do my post on here, get ready for prom, go to prom, ditch early so I can go home and celebrate my birthday with Deidra, and then if the weather cooperates and I can find our tent then we're going to sleep out in my yard. Lol I hope that's not packing too much into one day.

Deidra up until probably this grade I have always only ever imagined myself as living in Canada for the rest of my life, preferably not in Geraldton or Thunder Bay, but somewhere in Canada. I enjoy living here. However I have more recently considered the fact that I might rather live elsewhere. Definitely not the United States. Maybe somewhere like England (just because), Australia (also just because), Japan (always wanted to at least travel there for an extended period of time), or Finland (because it seems really nice and I have a lot of relatives there). Some other European countries sparked my interest as well. But in all honesty I'm not sure if I would ever be able to move so far away, to such a different and new place. It would definitely be an adventure.

Happy May Long Weekend

Hey guys, hope you're all fine and dandy. It's currently May long weekend since we get Monday off school for Victoria Day, but I also got today off because I had a dentist appointment in Thunder Bay. I hate going to the dentists, it's just not enjoyable at all to have people poking around inside my mouth. However the appointment was short and I got to do some shopping afterwards so I guess it was alright in the end. 

Not much else has really been going on, just the usual business from school and preparing for prom and grad. I did have a bit of free time (I say that but I was really just procrastinating) one night so I drew a picture of a possessed Ood. It turned out really well I think, and it made me realize that I really enjoy using ink as a medium.

Adam, my summers go from the end of June to the beginning of September. And a valedictorian is the person that has to do the farewell speech during the graduation ceremony. Typically it's the person that has the best grades, but for some reason this year they decided to take the top two people and then have a vote among the grads on who should be valedictorian. I had the highest grades so I was one of the nominees, however I was not chosen to be valedictorian in the end. Which sucks and bothers me immensely, but whatever. I'm trying not to dwell on it.

Campion, those puppets look soooo cool! And I definitely think there is an improvement from the first to the second one. Seeing those pictures kind of makes me want to go try making one myself.

Also since I'm in Thunder Bay for the weekend I'm hoping to be able to go see the Avengers. It's either that or Dark Shadows which I am also anxious to see.

Meelo is One of My Fave Characters

I'm in a really good mood right now and there is one single reason for that. I stayed home from school today. Just because nothing important was happening and I didn't want to go, so I just stayed home. And let me tell you, that is majorly relaxing. I ended up cleaning my room a bit and suntanning since the weather was ridiculously good until about 3 o'clock (good thing I wasn't cooped up inside school or I would have missed it). I was lucky though because my mom was out of town for work today so I just asked my dad if I could stay home and he didn't have a problem with it. If my mom had been here she probably would have made me go because I didn't have any real excuse to stay home.

Since the weather has been so nice I've been getting into my spring cleaning mood again. I just finished sorting through my clothes and holy crap do I ever have a lot of clothes. It was getting pretty crazy so I decided to donate a bunch that I didn't really wear anymore.

Oh! And like Deidra mentioned we went prom dress shopping and I also got my dress. It's teal and I really like it. Only problem is it has sparkles on it so whenever I wear it or touch it or move it around to much they get EVERYWHERE. (lol I was in the middle of cleaning when I took this picture, so don't mind the piles of clothes scattered around)

I've also been rewatching some of the 10th Doctor episodes of Doctor Who recently. It's been nice since I found that I forgot some of the things that had happened. Plus David Tennant, so yeah, need I say more?

Kate I really really really really want to see The Avengers movie too. For these movies I usually find that you don't really have to know much background on the superheros to still enjoy the movie. You could always google it though if you really wanted. Or watch all the previous movies, haha. And you should definitely try making some fruit tarts! We found a really easy recipe, they're not hard to make at all and they tasted pretty great.

Kira try not to wear yourself out too much with school. Campion congrats on your nerdfighterlike. That puppet you made sounds pretty cool too, you should show us a picture if you can.

Happy New Year!

So hello there it's 2012 and I actually managed to stay up! It's never anything special, but its nice to say I did I guess. I think it's because I could never make it as a small child. Either way. So how was the new years count down for you? Do you do it? Anything planed for the day or just a lazy I-don't-want-to-go-back-to-school thing? That's more me, because I might have school Monday and I'm not looking forward to it.

I do on occasion make a resolution or two, but this year I might have a few. 

1. Learn Ukulele

2. Actually try an make some kind of peace with my demon of a teacher

3. Find out my grades for the end of my trimester. Seriously it's not funny anymore.

4. Smile more

5. and to just be more positive. I always feel too negative.

Wow I made a list, neat! The first one is a big one, since I failed so much at the guitar. I recently acquired a ukulele this past Thursday. I now know c,e,d,f,g major, a, e minor (i think), c7, and the intro to Candy Floss by Alex. Which is nice. I'm quite proud of myself and hope to continue throughout the next year.

I want to make 'procrastinate less' a resolution, but it won't work. Thanks for the review on Tin Tin, I was considering it, and if I can I'll try and see it with some friends. Instead of Tin Tin, I saw Sherlock Holmes two on Friday. I have to say it was amazing. I never like sequels but this was just absolutely awesome. Defiantly a must see if you want to laugh. The ending is just B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L! What I liked the best was that I saw it with friends that I hadn't seen since we went to different schools. It was just so nice seeing them, we had a great time.

I thinks it's great that you disagree with me Deidra. I feel she isn't as badass as Rory though. Like he punched Hitler in the face, died and became a Roman, and I just don't see Amy as important to The Doctor. I really just want to see him change and deal without them. I liked her in the beginning, but I feel her time is almost up as a character.

Now I've just rested, and I need to see if I swore at all. I curse a lot when I'm tired apparently. Nope we're good! I don't really have any plans today seeing as it's new years day and it's a Sunday so everything is closed. Which means I wait yet another week to get my haircut. All because my sister just can't sit still long enough to do something I want. Anyways...It's going to be a pretty boring day so I think I'll go with that. BRB, going to eat more cake

So I decided to write my post a tad earlier than usual for no particular reason other than I'm kind of bored right now. I don't know when I'll be posting it though because the Doctor Who Christmas Special is loading on my computer right now so this might be posted after I've watched that.

Hope everyone's holidays are going well. Mines been very nice and relaxing. I've pretty much just been visiting with family and playing a lot of loz: Skyward Sword. I'm trying to beat the game before my sister leaves for Ottawa and takes it with her, which is in like 3 days or something so I have to hurry.

Other than that, I did go skating with my family yesterday. We go every year at this time because Tim Horton's hosts free public skating days at the arena all this week. I also did a bit of shopping, but not that much because I'm trying to save up my money for a little trip at the end of the school year. All I ended up buying was sweaters though, I swear I must have an addiction to sweaters or something, I never seem to have enough of them.

It was my mom's birthday yesterday so we went out for chinese food and then came home to watch The Blindside. My sister baked an awesome red velvet cake and I decorated it using this thing I got for christmas. It looked pretty awesome if I do say so myself, and it tasted even better.

An it's almost the new year, so Happy New Year everyone! Do you guys make New Year's resolutions? I don't usually make New Year's resolutions because I never seem to be able to keep them, but I might this year. Probably something like studying more for school, or maybe drawing or reading more since I've been kind of slacking off with those this year.

Kate, don't worry, I've put off doing all my homework until the week before school starts up again on the 9th. Campion, I was thinking of seeing the Tin Tin movie eventually, but probably not for a while since it's not on the top of my movies-I-want-to-see list. Good review though, makes me want to know what the crane fight scene is all about.

Your Inner Doctor

     Merry (late) Christmas everyone! I hope you all had an enjoyable holiday, and got to spend it with family and/or friends. I myself am having a wonderful holiday season. Our company left to go back home today, but we have had lots of fun while they were here. On Monday we all went down to the lake, and watched my niece ride her new snowmobile. It was really cute, because it is a small/mini one, and she is so tiny on it. She is really good too, especially for only being 3 and a half. Then on Tuesday we went to the arena for a bit of skating. We weren't there very long, thank god, or else I think my feet would have fallen off. I haven't been skating in a couple of years, so my ice skates were tight on my toes. It went well though, I didn't fall, which is a big accomplishment for me. I honestly thought I was going to hurt myself when I initially stepped onto the ice.

     I did some more drawing last night and today, and have put some pictures up on my DeviantArt account if you would like to see them. They aren't the greatest, but I like to think that I am getting better.

     I don't really agree with you, Katie. At first, I couldn't wait for Amy to leave the TARDIS and The Doctor, as I thought she was too clingy and dependent on him (sort of like Rose). Now though, I think I have spent enough time hoping that she lives and watching her be a bad-ass that I can't imagine it without her. I mean, Smith's Doctor has always been with Amy, there was no in between for either of them. I loved the special, though.
     Don't worry too much about procrastination, Kate. You aren't the only one trying to enjoy the holidays until the last moments. I have quite a bit of work that needs to be done before I return that I haven't even looked at. Congrats on your memorization though! Keep it up, I know you will do amazing. Just channel David Tennant, he's done a ton of Shakespeare.
     I didn't really have any hopes for that movie. The first time I saw commercials for it, I thought 'not another stupidly animated movie'. I don't particularly enjoy that kind of animation, and it completely puts me off from watching the movie. Also, the fact that it comes from a French cartoon kind of ruins it. It gives excuse to the stupid ending humour though. When in doubt, push someone off a bridge. I'm glad that you still enjoyed it though.

     I feel really lazy right now, but not sleepy. I was up really late drawing last night and then slept in, and now my internal clock feels all messed up. Hope you are all enjoying the holidays! Don't forget to be awesome!

Talk about ALL the things!

Today was pretty awesome. Two of my three teachers were away so we had supplies in for them. In biology class we ended up having a big discussion about pokemon and then a debate over what the plural of platypus is. Then in english we were reading the final act of Othello as a class and things just got really out of hand we ended up laughing so much and just having a bunch of fun. And it's the weekend now!

I'm hanging out with Deidra right now, sleeping over at her place to be more exact and we just spent the evening playing Twilight Princess and then we watched Super 8. Let me tell you Super 8 was a fantastic movie in my opinion. There was action, a little romance, aliens, mystery. The best part of all though was that it wasn't just another movie with the same old Hollywood actors. It was just a bunch of like teens that I hadn't really seen in any movies before (though they have been in a few, I looked them up).

Adam, your Swindon Town fanfic is going really well so far, I'll be sure to check in on it from time to time. I hope you keep it up because it's definitely better than a lot of the fanfiction that I've read on other things.

For Christmas my family has a sort of double celebration I guess you could say. On Christmas Eve we spend the evening at my Grandparents house for an awesome dinner (with ham not turkey) and then presents. Then on Christmas Day we open the family presents and have my uncle over for a second christmas dinner. We always get a real tree for our house and it's usually pretty tall so we have to use a ladder to decorate the top. My mom does a bunch of baking and we all pitch in to help. My favourite things we make are gingerbread cookies, shortbread cookies, and meat perogies. The food is definitely my favourite part of the holiday, but watching all the christmas tv specials comes at a close second.

Happy Birthday Kira! I hope you have an awesome weekend and an awesome birthday. And don't stress too much about school or anything just try your hardest and work your way through whatever they send your way and you'll be fine. I honestly believe that worrying about it will just make it worse than whatever it would have been.

Campion, it sucks you're limited in your bandwidth use. I don't know how it is with everyone else, but where I live, or I guess with the plan my family has, there isn't really a limit to how much bandwidth we use. I honestly never even knew what bandwidth was until like a couple years ago when someone was talking about it on a youtube video.

As for something that I watched before and got back into, all I can really think of off the top of my head would be Doctor Who. It played on cable for the Eccleston and like one of the Tennant seasons when I was younger and all I can remember thinking was that it was a really cool show. Then it stopped for some reason and I kind of forgot about it until I got into Nerdfighting. So I went back and watched all the episodes from Eccleston and onwards, and it's still as good as I remember.

Oh and I almost forgot, this week my school started a gardening club so I joined it. It seems like it'll be a lot of fun so I can't wait till we start growing things.

Woot December!

   Yay, it's finally December! Now, only 24 more days until Christmas. I'm kind of super excited, but more for the break part than the holiday. I have been so horribly busy these past weeks, and the next few will be annoying only because I'm now looking forward to the break. But my sister and niece are coming down to visit for a week to spend Christmas with us, so that will make it even better.

   I am also starting a blogging challenge on my personal blog. I will be posting a photo and writing every single day, which I hope I will be able to do. I am excited to do it, especially sincec some of the day's challenges are going to be really good. Except for tomorrow, which is supposed to be a self-portrait. I'm not a big fan of photos.

   I'm glad that your exams are all finished, Campion. I know the feelings of stress and anxiety that exams bring. I haven't seen Lord of the Rings, but I do intend to before my school year is over with Kayla. There just always seems to be something else to see when I am in the mood to watch a movie. Plus, they are really long, and I would want to watch them all together.

   Congrats on NaNo, Kate. I am assuming that you have finished by today, which is pretty amazing. Looking back, I would never have had enough time to get anywhere in a NaNo novel. Also, your kitties are adorable! This is my baby, Boots. Also one o my favourite pictures of her. She likes to follow me around the house, and even sleeps on te corner of my bed sometimes. I am going to miss her when I leave for school.  =(

   I've never tried tea, but your list of reasons may make me more inclined to do so one day, Katie. Until then, I will sit here and drink my hot chocolate while watching Doctor Who. I do celebrate Christmas, but there aren't many traditions that we have. I mean, we always do a special dinner with who ever is here with us, and decorate the house and such. The music, though, is something that I don't especially enjoy. It is just annoying for me, and it never changes. It isn't really fun or exciting, and years of stupid Christmas concerts growing up have really caused me to hate them.

   Happy early birthday Kira! I hope that you have a good day, and aren't plagued with homework or anything for the weekend. Here is your internet birthday cupcake, please wait until Sunday to enjoy though =P

I Need a Break ... But I'd Rather Have a Breakthrough

   Clicky the title for my music recommendation. It's basically how I feel right about now. I've been awake since 6 am, to travel to Thunder Bay for a neurologist appointment. It went really well, but the travelling took a lot out of me. It snowed last night, so the roads were kind of horrible, so it took even longer than it usually does to drive there. Then when I got home this evening I had to do English homework, because life is unfair in that way. Then I almost forgot to post.

   Thankfully the weekend is almost here! What would we do without them? Honestly, I would be insanse by now. That is the only way I can keep up with sleep and homework. Also this weekend I am hoping to be able to apply to university if I am not too busy, since I have been lately. I am both excited and not excited to do it. I want to apply, and go through with the whole beginning of the rest of my life thing; I mean, it is a big step, one that I have been waiting for forever. But also I am scared. Yes, the little chicken that I am doesn't want to leave home. I love my family and my horribly little home town. I don't know if I can function without them. Also to leave my friends. That will be difficult. I've grown so close to them, I don't want any of them to leave me. I'll get over it eventually, I know, and make new friends, but still. I don't think I want my life to change.

   I hope that all of your NaNo novels are coming along well. I know that school gets in the way, but keep on writing! I can't wait for the end of November to (hopefully) be able to read some of what you've written. I don't care if you think it's horrible, or if it's unfinished. I'll still want to see what comes from your minds.

  

   Adam, I'm glad to hear that you are coming up with more song ideas. When will we be able to hear the first one? I'm very interested in knowing how it turned out. Especially since it's about Bad Wolf.

   Happy Sweet Sixteen to you, Kate! Here is your cyper-birthday-cupcake, as per my apparent Group of Awesome Tradition. It looks so delicious, I just want to eat it. I hope you had an awesome day, and that you rocked some socks off with your orchestral performance.

100th Post

   I don't know why, but this week has been very tiring. I even went to bed really early one night, and that didn't help. I am so thankful that this weekend will be a three day weekend for me, because I definetely need it. Not only to sleep, but to get some work done.

   Stickaid was amazing. I woke up at 6:00am, to realize that I had messed up and gotten the time wrong. So I went back to sleep for an hour and half, and woke to see Myles snarfing a Kinder egg. It was a good beginning. I really liked the way it was done this year, with multiple co-hosts each with their own activities and such, as opposed to last year, where it was just Myles and Charlie and random people popped in and out.

   My favourite co-hosts were the RH Experience, Connor, Luke and Tom. They were just hilarious. I think I missed a segment of theirs, but what I did see made me laugh so much. It was funny to see them do the Kinder challenge together. I also loved it when Charlie did his challenges. It was like watching all of the videos over again, but with even more awesome.

   Thank you again Kayla for your awesome drawing. Oshawott would most definetely be my starter if I had that Pokémon version game. I have always been a water trainer. And Oshawott is the cutest of this generations starters. Snivy is alright, and so is Tepig, but they don't match up to the awesome-ness of Oshawott.
  
   Adam, the longest car ride I've taken recently was a 2-day car trip to Saskatchewan to visit my Grandparents. It was really long and boring, mostly because I was in the backseat with my sister the entire drive. Canada is really vast, and I would not want to drive the entire way. Also, good luck with your song. Keep at it, you will get it eventually.  =)

   Katie, that is actually a really good quote. I think it means that it is easier to understand others and their motivations, but it is difficult to understand yourself. It is easier to like others, and open up to them, but it is more difficult to like and accept yourself. I hope you are feeling better, and that tiny chickens aren't invading your head.

   I'm with you, Kate. I want the second half of the year to be here already. That is when my more interesting classes are, and it would also mean being closer to graduation. This semester just doesn't seem to be going by fast enough. Also, congrats at staying up and watching all of Stickaid. I decided to go to sleep at midnight my time and get up to watch the final hour and a half. It was worth it, as the last bit was amazing, and I wasn't as tired to do m homework on Sunday.

   Kira, I actually really like Granola bars. I don't find them dry or nasty. They are chewy, chocolate-y awesome-ness. And, woo French homework. Je t'aime français. I took it in grade nine and grade ten. I would have taken it again, but there weren't enough students to get a grade eleven class together. Oh well.

   Campion, that is a Granola bar. They are amazing, trust me. Though not as good as porridge and brown sugar. Don't worry about my schedule, it's a minor clock in my room that is set to NZT. My main alarm clock is still set to me time. Though personally I don't use clocks, I use my cellphone mostly to check the time and to wake up in the morning. Also, the weather here has been nice this week, which has been really pleasant. I hope your exams are going/went well.

   Anyway, I've procrastinated my homework enough with this post. I watched the last episode of Doctor Who, taking a break from Stickaid, and now I don't know what I'm going to do with my Saturday nights. Any suggestions? Don't forget to be awesome!!

Rainy Day Words

   The weather today has been so dreadful. Yes, dreadful. It has been raining all day long, and not even fun rain with lightning and thunder. Nope, just the endless, pitiful rain that makes me tired all through the day. Then of course, since I was tired all day I am no longer tired now, when I need to be. Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday.

   My week has actually been pretty good. Aside from some annoying poetry assignments for English class, my homework load has been pretty minimal. I don't have a math class this year, since I don't need it for university (I also really hate math), so I feel really bad when you guys get bogged down with lots of math work. I know I struggled with it the past three years. Heck, if it weren't for Kayla, I don't know if I would have done as well as I did.

   Stickaid is this weekend, and I am super-duper excited. This will be my second year watching it, but my first year actually staying up the full twenty-four hours. Or at least, I hope it will be. I stayed up all night once this summer, and it wasn't too difficult, but I didn't have school to think about or homework to do. Plus, I was able to sleep in later the next day, which I won't be able to this time. Oh well, Stickaid is worth it.

   We don't have a Homecoming here, but one thing that may get in the way of me watching Stickaid is the season finale of Doctor Who. It is playing on Saturday, and I want to see it soo badly, but I also don't want to miss any of the fun times. I will end up choosing the Doctor in the end, of course, but it is still a dilemma. I hope you have a lot of fun at your Homecoming dance, Kate. Although I've never been to a school dance, i hear they are great fun. =P

   Lately I have been having a bit of trouble remembering the New Zealand time difference. It is quite troublesome because I basically know the time for everyone else, but the conversion just doesn't seem to stick in mind for you, Campion. So to solve problem, I changed the time one of the clocks in my room to NZ time. So far, it has helped. It has also made me realized how annoying these time zones are.

   Katie, I think that what makes a region or nation powerful is the ability to make decisions together and act as one. A powerful nation is united, and has a system that works positively for the majority. The regions that I feel are the most powerful are probably Canada and the United Kingdom. They both seem to have things together, and the people seem to be content with how things are going. Also, they seem to have their problems under control. That is my answer, off the top of my head with no research and little thought. Sorry, I'm not really in a big thinking mood tonight. =)

   Sometimes I feel like I write too much. I look back and see what I've written, and think, "wow, nobody is going to want to read that monster post." But once I start writing, I don't want to stop. I could just keep writing forever and ever sometimes. Anywho, I do have other things that have to get done before bed, so have a good end of week, and don't forget to be awesome!

11. You Guys

Only a few more days until my summer is over, and I too will be stuck in the prison that is school. I am very much not looking forward to it. My summer thus far has been excellent, and I don’t want it to ever end. The year to come has a lot in store for me, as it is my final year of high school.

   I happen to have the same first semester as Kayla, with Biology, English and Math being our classes. I am not looking forward to the Math, as it is my least favourite subject, and the one I understand the least. My second semester consists of Chemistry, Philosophy, and a Studies of Literature. I wish I could just skip to second semester, but sadly I cannot.

   I recently found a blog with a post that I thought was a cool idea. '10 Things That Make Me Happy'. I decided to do my own, and post it for this week. It was actually harder than I thought  it would be. I mean, there are plenty of things that make me happy, but when I really think about them, these are the things that really make me feel good and happy through and through. I'd like to know what's on your lists, if you guys have time.

   I wish you good luck on the rest of your exams Campion. I know that a bit of my soul dies each time I write one, so try to keep your spirits up. They'll be over before you know it, and then you will have some time to relax. 
   Kira, I can't stand the taste of coffee or red bull. But I do love sleep. I stay awake by sheer will and determination. Or I just sleep and leave homework until the next day before class, but never that really turned out well for me.
   I hope you volleyball game/scrimmage went well Kate. I don't know very much about the game, though I played one year when I was in middle school. But I do know that it's fun!
   I fear knowing that you are near the hurricane Katie. I do hope that you are safe, and the it passes by you with no harm. The Doctor's Wife was a very good episode. I really liked that it showed more of the TARDIS than just the control room. The new episode was also brilliant, though I was kind of confused about it all. It seemd like Moffat just threw in a bunch of different elements to sew the story back together. I can't wait to see what he does next. Also, I hope your first day of school went good.  ^.^
   Adam, it looks like you had a lot of fun at the Debs, which is great. Congrats on being Prom King! The blank card deck sounds like a fun idea, can't wait to see how that turns out.
   Kayla, I hope you had a lot of fun when your sister was down visiting. I'm glad that you have decided on something for your future.

Just Listening

Hiya.

Its afternoon here and its a pretty normal day. I'm on the computer in my basement waiting out hurricane Irene. Yup I live on the east coast and its ridiculous how serious [and not serious] people are taking the hurricane. I think it will be okay and nothing will go wrong. So I'm waiting for the hurricane to prove me wrong. Nothing so far. People are actually taking surfboards to the beach still, and are still on the roads even though it is highly suggested to stay indoors.

Okay so I just realized I didn't answer questions from last week in my post so I will do that now.

 I play the clarinet, guitar, piano, and I have tried really hard to gain a saxophone. I actually seriously considered buying one from Luke [http://www.youtube.com/user/LukeIsNotSexy] but I didn't have the money. I also play a mean glockenspiel. That's about all I can play, for now. Favorite Doctor Who, well most recently its "The Doctor's Wife" which is the episode Neil Gaiman wrote. I thought last nights episode was good, for the most part. it had a few good [even great] twists, but nothing I didn't already suspect would happen. Not sure if you guys caught it last night so I won't mention the parts I enjoyed or the ones I thought were, well eh.

Adam I'm glad you had a good time at the debs, you looked good, and "Prom King"! Glad the suit was all business. Campion your YouTube channel is awesome, I hope you keep making videos. Kayla sounds like everything is going awesome, and that's great! Kate and Kira I hope your classes do get better. Deidra I'm sorry about the whole prom situation, I'm not one for dances, though I still go to be with friends.

I've been doing a lot of listening and watching lately. Like right now I'm listening to Maureen Johnson read from her book "The Name of the Star" on blogtv. As for watching...well I have Buffy the Vampire Slayer on my computer.

I technically start school this Thursday, so I hope that goes well. And my favorite charity is A Wish Come True, which is like Make A Wish where they give a child  their wish. An example would be how A Wish Come True sent me to Disney World when I was eight. The same charity sent my second oldest brother to Disney World when he was four. So they were and are a big part of my life, therefor I deem them my favorite.

Summer, School, Sisters and Stuff (Yay Alliteration!)

I actually have a couple of things to talk about today, all of them good. First of all, my sister is coming to visit for the weekend!!!! She decided last minute to fly up here for a quick visit and so we're going to pick her up from the airport later tonight. I'm really excited that she's coming, my sister is awesome.

Secondly, they were having a sale at Chapters on these language learning pack things so I picked one up cheap for Japanese, which is a language I've been wanting to learn for a while. I haven't started yet, but I will soon, I flipped through the book it came with and it looks like it'll be an interesting experience.

Thirdly, I'm not 100% on the idea yet, but I think I've decided what I'm going to aim to become when I'm older. A veterinarian. I really like animals and I'm good in all my science and math classes so I think it is a good decision. And I have to start out taking 2 years of general science courses in university before I can even apply for the vet program so it gives me time to get more experience with animals and fully come to my decision. It sucks a bit though because it means I'm going to probably have to take physics again this year which I was hoping to avoid.

Finally, this isn't really as big or exciting, but my mom just baked some pulla and it smells delicious so I think I'm going to go eat some right now. =)

As for Dr. Who episodes that I liked, well.... The Empty Child was good, Evolution of the Daleks was also pretty cool, Midnight, and The Idiot's Lantern was not bad as well. I also like the Ood and K-9, they're probably my fave non-human characters.

My favourite charity is probably the World Wildlife Fund because as I said before I really like animals and we humans can really screw them over sometimes. Two years ago my sister "adopted" a tiger in my name for Christmas and last year my parents "adopted" a polar bear in my name as well. Another one would be the MS Society because I remember taking part in the read-a-thons that they had for elementary school kids and I think that's great because it raises money for a good cause and gets kids reading at the same time.

I checked out your youtube channel Campion, it was fun to watch so I do hope you keep it up.

As for school I don't have my schedule on hand at the moment but I'm going to be in 12U English, 12U Advanced Functions, and 12U Biology first semester. Then 12U Chemistry, 12U Data Management, and 12U Calculus second semester. *12U means grade 12 University level if you were wondering* Like I mentioned above I may have to take 12U Physics as well and I was thinking of taking 11U Art for fun, but I might not be able too if I'm too busy with my other classes. I'm not looking forward to my English class because I have the same teacher that taught it last year and she made her last class write tons and tons of essays.

after a while, it gets... not good

   I'd like to start off by saying I was extremely tired and not in a good state of mind last week when I posted, and that is why I suggested the fall/autumn theme idea. When I woke up the next morning and reread my post, I face-palmed. Not my brightest idea. Forgive me? Anyway, as a reminder to the horrible timezones that separate us, Kayla and I came up with an idea that may help to remind us. Here is the story:
   On messenger, Kayla showed me clocks that she set up on her computer to show the time in Ireland and New Zealand so that she didn't have to remember it, like I do. But alas, I apparently had the time difference for NZ wrong. So I made the suggestion that we should put clocks, or something of the sort, onto the site, so that we (mainly me) wouldn't mess up the time differences anymore. So we searched and searched, and Kayla ended up finding the beauty that now sits at the bottom of the site. Not only can you look at our time zones, but every other possible Earth time zone you can think of. And there are some strange ones.
  
   Other than that, my week has been pretty tame. I've been on Ning chat a lot, which has been fun, and odd. Sometimes conversation on there can get a little wierd, but I've met some really interesting people there. Awesome Nerdfighters. : )    Also, I got Skype, which was something I didn't think I'd ever do, mostly because I don't have a functioning webcam, but apparently all you need is a microphone. So that has been pretty fun. Kind of awkward, since to anyone who walks in I'm just basically sitting here talking to my computer, but I'll get over it.

   Kayla, I would love to believe that going to the Hallowe'en dance would get me off the hook for prom, but I think my mom has other ideas. I'm starting to get the idea that if I don't literary handcuff myself into my room, I will be forcefully dragged to the dance. *sigh* Besides, you know more than anyone that I don't really like dressing up at Hallowe'en.
   Again Adam, congrats on your test scores! I can't wait to get some real news on your school, though I have a feeling it'll be good. I've been listening to a lot of Trock lately, but I haven't really heard much about the Bad Wolf episode, or about Bad Wolf in general. It was one of my favourite themes with Rose. All of the warnings, and yet the tragic end still happened. Thank god for Bad Wolf Bay. That had to be the saddest scene ever.
   Welcome back Katie's computer! It's great to fully hear from you again. I also am a big fan of Evan, though I don't really watch much Youtube anymore. Also, I haven't seen any of his liveshows lately, which sucks, 'cause I really want to hear his new music. I absolutely love The Limit as X Approaches Girlfriend. Mostly because I kind of understand most of it. Also, my favourite charity is the This Star Won't Go Out foundation, mostly because I loved watching Esther so much, and it was horrible when she passed a year ago.
   Kate, I love that you count down the days of school. I do that, but more toward the end of school, since it's easier. Though I don't know how that's going to go at the end of this year, seeing as it will be my final year of high school. I'm both excited for it to be over, and sad that it has come so quickly. It seems like it was just yesterday I was sitting down in my first ever high school class (which was art) and making friends that have lasted through these years.
   Kira, I know what you mean about homework. I also have been in all the advanced level courses in my high school, and with my procrastination, work tends to pile up until I am just ready to scream.
   I do feel sorry that you don't get snow too often, Campion. Snow is my favourite part of our winters, as it makes the world so much cleaner and quieter. That is, until snowplows ruin everything.

   Anywho, I don't really have anything else to write about. The title of this post is completely unrelated to anything in it. It was just something that happened. So don't forget to be awesome, and have a good week!

Its For The Lolz and Stuff

Hello you wonderful people of awesomeness! I had a very okay-ish week. However I am in an awesometastic mood, so yea, rainbows and kittens and stuff...:D

I can never for the life of me remember what I was going to say or what you guys said that I want to address/answer. So this is going to be hopefully very long if I can remember/find it all. Lets start with my own excitement and move from there, shall we. I am bursting at the seams with joy for two reasons or more. 1. My friend went to camp in France, and she sent me a postcard! So lets count, that's mail from England and a postcard from France. I will hopefully be writing her back sometime this week! 2. I might be going to see Katie Costello LIVE! I'm not sure if you have heard of her, Alex Day blogged about her once, and I fell in love with her music.

Next, I'm not sure if we have any substitutes for Mars Bars that you don't have. I also have had a Kinder Surprise Egg one Easter when I was four. Not sure if they're still around in the states or not. Kayla I'm so excited to see the progress of your flower sprouts! I love growing things, sadly I don't have and can't start a garden. My dog would eat all the crops :( It would be lovely to fill my front and back lawn with a garden!

Kate I am currently downloading the first Doctor on my computer and I can't wait to watch past episode one. I have also made several scrapbooks. Two of them are from my Wish to Disney World when I was eight, one from several field trips to places like farms and museums, and one of them is of my animals which is mostly cats.

I don't have a favorite food. I'm a flexitarian, which is a part-time vegetarian. I really only eat meat on Thanksgiving, by force may I add because turkey is disgusting. I must say though, that I love pineapple. Also I don't plan on seeing the 3rd Transformer film. I didn't like the first one to begin with, just not my thing. I used to watch the show with my sister when I was younger, but even then it didn't interest me.

I do, however love Pokémon. I have the first 150 in card form, my sister has little figures, a monopoly game and the video games. We used to play the card game with the little figures to make it more real because we're just that dorky. And  Pokémon wasn't just me and my sister, it was my entire family of five children. Something I forgot and will mention now is that is there such a thing as Doctor Who Bear? I was wondering because my mom misheard my brother when he said Doctor Who and thought he said Doctor Who Bear, which is awesome. If it isn't already a thing I think we should make it a thing and have it be our mascot!

Harry Potter, Trock and More Great Things

My thoughts on Harry Potter, for those who want to read them, are here. SPOILERS!... Yeah, so I decided it'd be fun to start my own personal blog so you can check that out if you want.  I really do think that you have to have read the books to be really attached to the plot and the characters.  When I was younger, like 7ish, the movies used to scare me.  I did finally start reading the books when I was in 5th grade and I finished the 6th in 6th grade.
Then I had to wait for the last book to come out... and I'm not good at waiting.

Deidra... I like all of the songs on Still Got Legs and it is soo hard to choose which I like best.  Though I would have to say Nightmares and Kiss the Girl stick out to me the most.  I love Liam's voice (all of their voices are good).
Adam, I can't wait to hear your songs and How I Met Your Mother is one of my favorite tv shows.  I'm not sure which bands aren't well known internationally, but Rascal Flatts is the best country band, I think.  There's also this singer that I like, Clueso, but he's from Germany.  My friend, who was a foreign exchange student last year, showed us a music video in class.  I can't understand German but I look up the translation of the songs and it just makes them more great.

Today my father and I went to this craft store and started to look in the scrap-booking section and that got me really wanting to make a scrapbook.  I was wondering if you guys have ever made a scrapbook.  That will be my question...

In more Doctor Who related stuff, I have made it to the 11th episode of the Season 1.  Since I can only watch it when I'm at my mom's, it'll probably take me a long time to catch up, and that's a bummer.  My favorite quote of the series so far is "Just this once, everybody lives" which Charlie also says on "Travelling Man."

I Solemnly Swear

   Only one more day until the awesome-ness that is Harry Potter! Kayla and I are going to see it tomorrow night, and I am so excited for it. At the same time, I'm also hoping time will slow down a tad and make me wait a bit longer, because I don't want all of it to end. I only read the books last year, in the summer before a watched the first part of the last movie, but I've always liked the movies. And now I've become a real Harry Potter fan, I feel like watching the last part will be both amazing and sad.

   I haven't really done much in the past week. The only really interesting thing is that I've been watching Torchwood, and I really love it. Not as much as I love Doctor Who, but it's still really good. I'm about halfway through the second season, and am hoping that I'll be caught up soon to be able to watch the third episode of the new (fourth) season on tv. Since the third season is only five episodes, and I watch two episodes every night, it shouldn't be a problem.

   Thanks for all of your opinions on my classics question. It helped me to put that into a different perspective. I especially liked the quote Adam gave: 'A Classic is something everyone wants to have read and no one wants to read.' That's especially true with me. I want to read Wuthering Heights, because I heard it was a good read, but I tried and I don't know if it's really something I'll enjoy. So I put it back on my shelf for now, and I'll try again later.

   Adam, the fact that you are going to college a year early scares me. I barely have an idea of what I want to do in my last year of high school, let alone after that. So why are you going a year early? Did you skip a year when you were younger?
   I feel bad for you Katie. I hate being told to clean. That's probably the only reason why I keep my room tidy. It's good to hear you found a math tutor. Like you, I'm also not a fan of math. It's my least favourite subject, but I'm not too bad at it.
   A thoughts from places sounds like a wonderful idea, Kate. It would be really cool to see the area you come from and hear what you think about it. I've never tried kettle corn, is it some sort of candy, or like a popcorn type of thing?
   I hope you feel better soon Campion, and please leave us a link to your YouTube channel so we can all see your epic Shakespearean rap battle! We are all really interested in seeing it. Also, what kind of books do you like to read? I'm more of a fantasy reader, so if you aren't into that sort of stuff, my recomendations won't be very good.
