*Jumps on the Colour Bandwagon*

Like Deidra said, all the snow is pretty much gone here. It's insane. And there isn't even any snow in the forecast. I can't remember it ever being this warm here at this time of year. It's kind of nice except it is not helping me at all in terms of motivation to get school work done. 

I didn't really celebrate St. Patricks Day this year. The most I usually do for that day is wear some green or something, but I didn't even do that much because I didn't have any green clothes with me in Thunder Bay.

My school week has been really busy and stretched out. I spent a bunch of time working on some scholarships and stupid calculus. Thankfully though most of that is done for now, and I can relax a bit. Except not really because I have a ton of other stuff to do, including top secret birthday preparations for Deidra. And just to bug you Dee: It's going to be super awesome I can not even tell you how excited I am about what I got you. >: )

I totally agree with you about being able to take a joke, Adam. The Canadian stereotype isn't really offensive in the first place though so I guess that helps in my case. Like, oh no, people think that because I'm Canadian I'm really nice, live in an igloo, and drink maple syrup by the bottle, lol.

Kate, yeah they had four bottle dancers in The Fiddler on the Roof. It was really really cool, it totally looked like the bottles were glued to the dancers' heads, but then they tipped them off at the end and caught it in their hands. That's really cool that your brother did that part in the musical. I wonder if it was very difficult.

Kira, I've always gotten along really well with my sister. Whenever my friends talk about not getting with their siblings I think it's really weird, but then I remember that (at least from my personal experience) I'm the one that's in the minority in terms of sibling relationships. 

So I guess I'll ask everyone: what's your relationship like with your siblings? (I think I recall everyone having siblings, but if someone doesn't then: do you wish that you had some?)

I have a beaver tail every time that I go to Ottawa, they are so delicious. My sister actually had a job in the beaver tail shacks that open along the Rideau Canal during the winter. I highly recommend them if anyone here hasn't had them before. They're just one more reason to come visit Canada, haha. : )

Yes, I was the one that hasn't read all the John Green books yet. I hopefully will soon, but I always seem so busy so I'm not sure when I'll get to them. I think I'll read Looking for Alaska next.

And for Deidra/Hunter's question: I can't really remember a lot of the book-to-film movies that I've seen because of my terrible memory. However Ella Enchanted sticks out in my mind as a pretty terrible one. I think a good film adaptation of a book is one that does take a bit of creative rights in terms of how they show what happens, but it still stays true to the story. I read the book after seeing the movie, but let me tell you, they were two completely different stories. I always really liked the movie, so I was excited to read the book when I found it. However after reading the book I was really disappointed at how the movie was. I felt the book was much better and they cut out basically all the good parts or switched them to something else entirely. Pretty much the only thing they kept the same was the fact that the main character has the curse to obey people. 

As for a film adaptation that I really liked I would go with Harry Potter just because I can't really think of anything else at the moment. The whole series stuck with the story, but there were also a bunch of little things that were added or changed, most of which I enjoyed or just didn't mind.

So Much Snow

     It has been snowing a lot here this past week, and getting colder, which has made walking to and from the bus each day quite annoying. I have been thinking of making a video or something walking around outside, just to show my faraway friends what everything looks like. Maybe I will do it this weekend if I have some time or feel like procrastinating.

     We are slowly finishing up our first semester, and I feel like each day is just dragging on. Exams are a little over 2 weeks away, and even though I don't want to write them I want them to come faster and be over with. I don't particularly enjoy that we have to return after Christmas break to the same classes and routine. I would much rather begin second semester now, since it is a new year and everything.
     Well Adam, I hope all of your traveling went well and that you didn't miss a flight or take a wrong bus. Germany sounds like an interesting place, especially if you've got friends there to show you around and hang out with. Hopefully you will take some video while you are there. It would be cool to get to see some of your adventure.
     I agree with your points, Kayla, and still truly believe that Ron is a Gryffindor. I think that I was more thinking along the lines of if he could be in a different house, as opposed to if he deserved his place. I mean, without a doubt he a Gryffindor, but there are some good points to be made that he could belong somewhere else. Then again, that could be said about anyone, as people aren't really defined by only one trait. Of your reasons though, I think the Yule Ball robes was my favourite.
     Congratulations on your grades, Katie. It sounds like you worked hard, especially in history considering your mid-course transfer. I liked the elephant fun facts. Here is another: elephants prefer one tusk over the other, just as people are either left or right-handed.
     Good work on your grades as well, Kate. Hopefully mine turn out as well as yours. Don't worry too much about chemistry, it sounds difficult but it usually isn't.
     Robotics sounds really fun, Kira. I hope you make a really awesome one and win some tournament that I am assuming you are going to enter. As for Percy, I think he belongs where he is, just like Ron. While he may be cowardly at times, and not trust in what he is told, he did go back to his family in the end and apologise. I think that would take a lot of courage, especially since he left them in such an important time, and the family is so big I would be scared of them. I did a bucket list for my tenth grade careers studies class, but the stuff that I put on it was more interesting things that I would like to see, not really things I want to do. I think that making an actual list to follow would be tough, especially if you weren't able to complete something. I am the kind of person who likes to cross things off a list, and be able to say that I have finished them, so that fear would bother me. I think I would prefer short-term lists.
     Campion, congrats on passing your year. I was quite confused at first that you have received results for last year, but then I remembered that your system is different than ours. It seemed weird that they would let you do an entire half year of school before telling you if you had passed the previous year. I hope you are enjoying your time off, despite being sick and all. Feel better!

     As for the question on time travel, I think it would be extremely fun if it were possible, but there are too many possible repercussions. Every action, no matter how minuscule, would have a consequence that could change history. I mean, eating an apple in the 1600s might result in you not being born. It could have been the apple that saved your ancestors life, or the reason they met their significant other. Like John says, "If only we could see the endless string of consequences that result from our smallest actions. But we can't know better until knowing better is useless." As much as I would love time travel, I would be too afraid of messing something up.
     The contact lenses with Internet sounded really cool, but I'm not quite sure how I would feel if they were real. Like anything, they would be a great technology, but would be put to evil uses fairly quickly. We would end up using them in war, and even against each other. While the idea of knowing everything about a person before even knowing them might be nice at times, I think I am still too much of a fan of spontaneity and chance for that. Getting to know someone would take on a different meaning, and nothing would be private anymore. Also, as a last thought, I don't like the idea of putting regular contacts on (which is why I have been wearing glasses for almost five years).

White Christmas

So school is finally out today, it was pretty pointless to even be there seeing as we didn't do any work really, but I guess the free pancake breakfast made up for it. A little bit anyway. But now that's done (even though technically I have two essays and some math to work on, but I'm not thinking about that right now lalalalalala) and I'm in Thunder Bay for the holidays as per usual. We still have to decorate and finish wrapping presents since we just got here, but we have time and it'll be fun. My sister is back from Ottawa so that's nice, too. We're planning on doing a lot of fun stuff while she's here like baking, skating, making a snowman, and maybe skiing.

Campion, I honestly can't even imagine Christmas without snow, it just seems so wrong to me. Christmas is the time of year when its cold out with tons of snow so you have hot chocolate and play outside while being bundled up so much it's hard to walk, and toboggan down huge hills. We already have maybe a foot and a half of snow here.

Adam, I consider myself Canadian first and I also consider myself an Ontarian, but more than that I consider myself a Northern Ontarian because our province is so big and southern Ontario isn't really the same as northern Ontario. If that makes any sense.

On a completely different note have you guys seen the trailer for The Hobbit? I was so excited when I saw it, it feels like I've been waiting forever for the movie to come out (because of all the stupid delays and setbacks) and I still have to wait one year to see the first part, but that's better than before.

So yeah, Merry Christmas! DFTBA! And I haven't really seen anyone say that they don't celebrate Christmas, but if you don't (and for our readers who don't) Happy Chrismukkwanzaadan!

Nine Days Till Christmas

Well my week has been pretty relaxed, probably since Chirstmas break starts soon. Today has been pretty epic though. I just got early acceptance to both the University of Ottawa and Lakehead University! I'm really excited about it. I'm not sure where I'll go in the end (I also have yet to hear from the University of Guelph), but I have like almost half a year to decide, so that's good.

The second sunflower plant finally bloomed yesterday and guess what? It's orange! I'm so glad that it made a flower. It actually grew a lot too and now the flower is too heavy for the stem, so I have to figure out a way to hold it up straight.

Tomorrow Deidra and I are going to go see the Nutcracker ballet. I'm really happy that we're going to see it because I've never actually been to a ballet before and I'm sure it's going to be amazing.

Adam, hope your finals are going/went well. Also, I haven't really been on youtube for a while so I completely forgot about P4A. I'll have to make sure to check it out tomorrow to show some support.

Wow, Katie. 7 hours of sorting is super intense, I would definitely not be able to do that. Also intensives sound pretty interesting and I think I played that game before, but I'm not very good with doing math games like that.

Kate, that's good that you get to see your brother again. Hopefully you'll be able to make a P4A video, too.

Kira, it's been a pretty mild winter so far to be honest, but we have had a bunch of snow so I took your advice and I was able to make a snowman a couple days ago, carrot nose and all. As for Christmas plans, just the usual relaxing and visiting with family with the potential for some fun stuff like skiing with my sister.

Campion, that sucks that the weather has been so bad, mother nature just likes to do that to spite everyone, eh?

PS- I just found out that the sequel to this book I really love finally came out. I've been waiting for it for over a year so this is really exciting. I'll have to try and get it ASAP. Today has been amazing, hope your days are going as well as mine!

Every Time

   So I spent today doing the most annoying task ever created: Christmas shopping. And for some reason my family always leaves it until really late in the month, and I'm stuck going through stores filled with what seems like hundreds of other people who don't know what to buy. Really, I just want to get in and get out. But I did get everything I needed, which is great because there is no way I would go back now. Something interesting I noticed today though: it seems like every time I go into the city with my family, it's on a Thursday. And then I have to come home and post, kinda late, before I can go to sleep.

   I think I have heard of that game Katie, or at least some variation of it. All I know is that I would be horrible at it, as I truly hate math. Since I'm not taking it this year, I've sort of just given up on it completely. I also don't really understand what these intensives are. But if they mean you get to visit awesome places, then they sound way better than community hours.

   Kira, I don't see why you would be upset about missing snow for a cruise. That is a trade I would make any day. As much as I love snow at Christmas, I think I'm getting a little tired of it. Also, I don't really know why people apologize for things they can't help. Probably just to sympathize with other people, and make them feel a bit better about their problems. As for mine, I gave up and changed outlets. It means having my laptop at the opposite end of my room, but no more annoyance.

   Adam, pretty please share your YouTube channel with us! I can guarantee you would have some more subscribers if you did. Also, I hope that your finals are going/went well. I'm sure you will do fine, as long as you studied and whatnot.

   I am still writing on my own blog every day, as per the December Challenge. Since I must still do that, this post will be cut short. Don't forget to be awesome!

11:11 11/11/11 Make A Wish

Well the snow is finally here, and I think it's going to stay, but I guess we'll just have to see. It was pretty warm out and I was in a good mood so I ended up shoveling our deck off. I tried to make a snowman afterwards, but it wasn't sticky enough so I'll have to try again some other day.

Today also happens to be Remembrance Day here so we had our usual ceremony at school. This year the students from the elementary school came to our ceremony as well. One class read In Flanders Fields and another sang a song. They were so cute and little. And for once my poppy didn't fall off in the middle of the day.

Movie suggestion: The Eagle. I probably wouldn't have seen this movie if my dad hadn't pointed it out in the store, but it was surprisingly good in my opinion. It's set in Roman times where a man tries to restore his family's honour. The main character is Channing Tatum so that was a bit of a plus.

Katie, I hope your lower back is feeling better. Adam, I cannot think of a more perfect name for a Doctor Who song than Tardis Blues, I'm glad your music making is going well. Kate, Happy Birthday! Hope you have/had an awesome day! Also congrats about sticking with nano until this point, I don't seem to have that sort of capability.

Power, that's a toughy. I think I'll have to agree with you Kira. Knowledge is power. And congrats on your awesome mark. Hope exams are going well for you Campion, hang in there.

after a while, it gets... not good

   I'd like to start off by saying I was extremely tired and not in a good state of mind last week when I posted, and that is why I suggested the fall/autumn theme idea. When I woke up the next morning and reread my post, I face-palmed. Not my brightest idea. Forgive me? Anyway, as a reminder to the horrible timezones that separate us, Kayla and I came up with an idea that may help to remind us. Here is the story:
   On messenger, Kayla showed me clocks that she set up on her computer to show the time in Ireland and New Zealand so that she didn't have to remember it, like I do. But alas, I apparently had the time difference for NZ wrong. So I made the suggestion that we should put clocks, or something of the sort, onto the site, so that we (mainly me) wouldn't mess up the time differences anymore. So we searched and searched, and Kayla ended up finding the beauty that now sits at the bottom of the site. Not only can you look at our time zones, but every other possible Earth time zone you can think of. And there are some strange ones.
  
   Other than that, my week has been pretty tame. I've been on Ning chat a lot, which has been fun, and odd. Sometimes conversation on there can get a little wierd, but I've met some really interesting people there. Awesome Nerdfighters. : )    Also, I got Skype, which was something I didn't think I'd ever do, mostly because I don't have a functioning webcam, but apparently all you need is a microphone. So that has been pretty fun. Kind of awkward, since to anyone who walks in I'm just basically sitting here talking to my computer, but I'll get over it.

   Kayla, I would love to believe that going to the Hallowe'en dance would get me off the hook for prom, but I think my mom has other ideas. I'm starting to get the idea that if I don't literary handcuff myself into my room, I will be forcefully dragged to the dance. *sigh* Besides, you know more than anyone that I don't really like dressing up at Hallowe'en.
   Again Adam, congrats on your test scores! I can't wait to get some real news on your school, though I have a feeling it'll be good. I've been listening to a lot of Trock lately, but I haven't really heard much about the Bad Wolf episode, or about Bad Wolf in general. It was one of my favourite themes with Rose. All of the warnings, and yet the tragic end still happened. Thank god for Bad Wolf Bay. That had to be the saddest scene ever.
   Welcome back Katie's computer! It's great to fully hear from you again. I also am a big fan of Evan, though I don't really watch much Youtube anymore. Also, I haven't seen any of his liveshows lately, which sucks, 'cause I really want to hear his new music. I absolutely love The Limit as X Approaches Girlfriend. Mostly because I kind of understand most of it. Also, my favourite charity is the This Star Won't Go Out foundation, mostly because I loved watching Esther so much, and it was horrible when she passed a year ago.
   Kate, I love that you count down the days of school. I do that, but more toward the end of school, since it's easier. Though I don't know how that's going to go at the end of this year, seeing as it will be my final year of high school. I'm both excited for it to be over, and sad that it has come so quickly. It seems like it was just yesterday I was sitting down in my first ever high school class (which was art) and making friends that have lasted through these years.
   Kira, I know what you mean about homework. I also have been in all the advanced level courses in my high school, and with my procrastination, work tends to pile up until I am just ready to scream.
   I do feel sorry that you don't get snow too often, Campion. Snow is my favourite part of our winters, as it makes the world so much cleaner and quieter. That is, until snowplows ruin everything.

   Anywho, I don't really have anything else to write about. The title of this post is completely unrelated to anything in it. It was just something that happened. So don't forget to be awesome, and have a good week!

Happy as a Clam

Hello, how is everyone doing today? I had a pretty nice week so I'm in a good mood right now. I spent all day cleaning my house and breaking in my new awesome boots that I bought. I also spent some time outside watching at least 6 hummingbirds fly around and play with each other. They were really cute. We set up a hummingbird feeder every year and this is about the time that the babies are big enough to fly so they're always hanging around. I also got back in a writing mood and managed to write out another page for my short story. Also they were having a sale on classic novels at Coles yesterday so I bought 3 and started reading Journey to the Centre of the Earth. It's pretty good so far.

The closest thing my school has to a debs is what Deidra said: prom. I went in grade 9, skipped 10 and 11, but I plan to go this year. Our school is so small though it's really just a fancy dance with food trays and punch. And yes Deidra you are coming with me whether you want to or not. We don't even have to stay for the whole thing, but you have to be there for some amount of time. The only way I see you getting out of it is if you go to the Halloween dance instead and then we can just have our anti-prom as per usual.

I hope your computer gets fixed soon Katie and have fun at school! Kate good luck with volleyball practice and school starting next week. Kira I spent 7 or 8 years learning to play the piano. It was fun at first when I was younger, but as I got older I just kind of stopped liking it (also I realized I hate being in front of people speaking or performing...) so I quit. I can probably still play some things on there, but it's been about a year since I last played so I'd probably be a bit rusty.

Campion your excitement over snow makes me smile, mostly because where I live we get snow for about 6 months of the year. It's cool that you had so much fun with it though. : ) I'm glad you had such an awesome day.

Theme weeks sound good to me, we should just choose someone to start and they can come up with the first theme. Then the next week the next person in line can choose the new weeks theme. Also I don't think the themes have to be about fall, it could be anything like a movie week, book week, pet week, nature week, food week, hobby week, family week, etc, etc. It could really be anything and we would all be free to write whatever we want about that theme.
